(1) Meet Tariq. There's a 5-day gap between the first photo (on the left) and the second one (on the right). Tariq lost his classmate, Lutfi Huwaiti.
Today, I found him seated at the Jenin camp’s cemetery, besides the grave of his martyred friend.
(2) The once radiant smile that he used to greet me with has faded away. When I asked him what he was doing, he responded, "I’m talking to him and sharing my burdens and worries." What burdens does this child carry? What wrong has he done to bear the weight of loss and grief?
(3) Why is he sitting by his friend's grave instead of playing together and engaging with passersby? What are the children of Gaza, the camp, and all of Palestine guilty of to make them victims of such grief?
@ShazaAbed
Im sorry to hear this, yet I am happy he is talking to his friend. People live on in our hearts and minds. He is wise to know this.
May it bring him some comfort.
