I am so so soooo happy to announce that I have received full funding for my PhD by
@Midlands4Cities
. I stared at the email for ten minutes in complete shock cause I couldn't believe it was true 😂🎉
Please enjoy this completely authentic and not staged at all picture of me presenting at
@britgrad
. Was a pleasure to be surrounded by so many talented scholars and practitioners 🙏

Was just in a cafe & a lady saw my Shakespeare books & proceeded to tell me how: Shakespeare is not real, he was 5 people, including Francis Bacon & the Earl of Oxford, who are in fact the children of Queen Elizabeth I, & the real Shakespeare was too ✨common✨ to write so well
That feeling when you find what looks like the PERFECT play for your PhD chapter, but then you realise it had the AUDACITY to be lost… Anyone want to join me on some graveyard digs to find it? 💁🏻♀️⛏
We open tomorrow!! Come and see the first performance of this Ben Jonson play in nearly half a millennium! I know I’m biased, but I cannot stress enough how funny this play is. It’s such a shame it’s been this long since it was last put on !
Our next production!
For the first time since the 1600's,
#benjonson
's farce, Every Man out of his Humour, shall be performed
@The_Bear_Pit
27-30 Sept. Directed by
@JoshCaldicott
- this promises to be a night of historical ridiculousness.
Tickets:
This week I got to achieve my very nerdy dream of doing PhD writing under the library Christmas tree at St. Pancras. Dream small people, and your dreams will come true. 📚✨
Excited to be part of this Jonson play that, as far as we know, hasn’t been performed in 500 years! Directed by the wonderful
@JoshCaldicott
, and on at the Bear Pit in Stratford-Upon-Avon from September 27th-30th, this is one not to be missed!
#benjonson
Today I got to run a workshop on Macbeth for the 18-25 summer school at the RSC. The whole session focused particularly on the importance of interdisciplinary learning and how thorough literary dissection of text can give the actor more power in their craft. It was a pleasure.
Had a fab time presenting at Britgrad today in a panel alongside
@pea_green_boat
and
@sillymoo_
.
So excited to hear the final panel of the day and then try and make sense of the myriad of notes I’ve made 😂
#Britgrad2021
Well done to the
@britgrad
committee for pulling off such a brilliant conference 🎉👏🏻🎉👏🏻🎉👏🏻! My brain is still processing all the incredible info shared so I shall be in a discombobulated state for AT LEAST the next two weeks 💁🏻♀️
#Britgrad2021
Thank you to
@EzraHorbury
and
@ThingofBlood
for yesterday’s trans embodiment conference. It was such a treat to meet other people doing queer theory related research in the period. I was wowed by everyone’s research. Bring on the queer takeover of early modern research 🌈 🏳️⚧️ 🏳️🌈
First non-zoom show since Covid complete. I had the most wonderful time being involved with Shakespeare Institute Players show All’s Well That Ends, a series of SNL style skits in which we “fucked with Shakespeare”. ✨
Digital performance, musical theatre, pop, memes, the lives of the King’s Women and a sprinkle of Taylor swift: Day One of
#Britgrad2021
has been a treat. Gutted I can’t make any more panels today. Bring on Britgrad Day 2 🎉👏🏻🎉👏🏻
Hi I’m coming out of Twitter hibernation to tell you all I can’t stop making memes out of this photo from a production of Midsummer I was recently in. It was only a matter of time until the nerdy memes begun…
Have thoroughly enjoyed my first BSA, getting to be a part of the Rewilding seminar led by
@LostPlayhouse
was truly a treat. So blown away by the incredible scholarship I saw.

My research assistant (Emeritus Professor Paws) for the week seems to have decided that it is time to call it a day, can’t argue with a professor 💁🏻♀️
We have the climate crisis, the cost of living crisis, but i’m really glad Rishi & his friends are focusing on important issues like removing all dignity & decency for trans women & warping science to fit their agenda. Is it just me or is the UK going in a fascist direction?!
Despite writing about witches for the past year, it has only recently occurred to me that the fact I have a birth mark on my ankle that resembles a bear would have likely got me into serious trouble 500 years ago…

Huge life announcement! Today is the day that I managed to read Derrida without getting more confused and/or crying 🎉 I must admit, I’m a bit emotional- I would like to thank my cat, Delilah, my cat, Delilah, and most importantly, my cat, Delilah 🐈⬛ 💖🙌🏻
@SussexUni
dangerous transphobic narratives. Her opinions are not “academic freedoms”, they’re hate speech. This is not a matter of opinion, it is a matter of human rights. It is shameful that Sussex University are defending her absolute violation of fundamental human rights.
Thinking about the time me and my mum found one of my grandmother's old notebooks and were incredibly moved and impressed by her poetry. Only to then later find out that she had in fact written down the poems of a not very well known poet called William Wordsworth.
Managed to sneak in for the end of
@bkadams
' brilliant talk on magic books in Friar Bacon and Friar Bungay! The talk got me very interested in the paradox between magic as both a mysterious unknown and a physical material object (book) that is formulaic in nature ✨📕
Mum I’m famous! Alternative caption: Nepotism. Alternative caption: my girlfriend of 2 and a half years forgot how to spell my name. Alternative caption: she is forgiven because she chose me as her Shakesqueer contact and wrote a really cool article.
🪶Presenting at BritGrad, or another conference, this year? Read this blog post by Co-Chair, Saraya Haddad, which takes you through all the tips and tricks for giving a great presentation. To read the whole thing, visit this link: 🪶

My first blog article is up! I’m excited to write on more queer topics in the future ✨🌈As a massive side note, I am VERY PROUD of the name, the name alone may be my best work potentially ever

Our 2024 Call for Papers has now closed. We are thrilled to announce that we received a record breaking 97 abstracts! Thank you to everyone who submitted.🪶
The skies gave us a rainbow here in Stratford-Upon-Avon to mark the occasion.
P.S. stay tuned for auditor registration👀
Rehearsing tomorrow’s workshop

You will not believe how this BRILLIANT duo (

and Adam Diaper) delivers complex legal text!!! ⚖️

to every trans person still questioning and learning about themselves. I can't wait for you to live freely as the person you were always meant to be 🏳️⚧️
Also the real Shakespeare apparently "worked at the Globe stables" as he was "a simpleton and a drunk". It was giving conspiracy theory with a healthy dose of ✨elitism✨ for an extra little bit of spice 🌶️
Once upon a time there was the Duchess of Malfi.
Once upon a time there was a big, bad, wolf.
A woman who wants to do as she pleases. A man who wants to stop her. A story as old as time.
Come and see The Duchess of Mali at the

My decision to surprise my mum for Christmas (don’t worry, she doesn’t know how to use Twitter) with a printed family tree has been rather more interesting than I was expecting. Imagine my face when I found out one of my ancestors is William Underhill, who owned New Place (1/2)
So proud of
@itssophieperry
for setting up such a brilliant and important space for LGBT+ journalists to connect. If you’re a queer journalist, join! ✨
After thinking about it for a while, decided to make it a real thing:
Welcome to the LGBTQ+ Journalism Network!
I hope this group will be a supportive community for LGBTQ+ journalists in the UK

Anyone else need disco lights and/or fairy lights in order to study effectively, or is this just me?!… 😂 Im 99% sure some of my best work was done this week simply because the cafe I was in had nice fairy lights ✨
#MOODLIGHTINGFANATIC
The Kenergy of this is incredible.
Ngl, when I found out the quarto wasn’t about horses, I lost interest anyway 🐴
Nevertheless, thanks to Barbie, all the problems of the quarto have been solved 💅 👛🌸💖
Ageing is realising that Tamagotchi’s are now considered so ✨retro✨ that they are sold in urban outfitters. Us 90’s kids might as well just put ourselves on Antiques Roadshow. 🏺
✨ Really enjoyed getting to speak on alleged early modern witches as a vehicle of disease 🧙♀️ Thank you
@brumby_hannah
for hosting such a wonderful symposium!
🚨 JOB NEWS 🚨
In January I will be starting a new position with
@PinkNews
as a News Reporter 🎉
Bittersweet to leave the great team at

Side note, don’t think I’ve managed to go a day the past few weeks without doing an Anna Delvey impression. I may be developing a problem…
Got to feature in another one of
@itssophieperry
‘s brilliant pieces. We have talked for the past two years about how much this article needs to exist; I’m so happy it finally does. Unrelated but if you haven’t watched Heartstopper, watch it!!
First book of 2022 down. I loved how
@biminibabes
discusses ways drag can be misogynistic and how their drag, as well as that of their favourite queens, works to tear down (in killer heels, no less) the western gender binary. As Bimini puts it, they are a ‘cis-tem offender’ ✨
So honoured to be featured in
@wickedleeksmag
discussing how creative mediums can be used to make narratives surrounding the climate crisis more accessible to less-scientific thinkers (like me 😂) ✨🌏
“We need to consider the climate crisis and food system issues from an inter disciplinary basis and invite people from different backgrounds."
@SarayaHaddad
Great piece in
@wickedleeksmag
on our Participatory Action Research project with young people.
Missing my Cypriot study buddy today. Pistachio when I look up at the stars and think of you, do you also look up at them and think of me(ow)? 🌌 ♥️

On a scale of totally normal PhD behaviour to cuckoo-bananas with a sprinkle of ✨delusional✨, how far along is one when they have their emotional support platypus helping them through? Asking for a friend.
In the past few days our so-called Prime Minister has reduced the very real lives of asylum seekers to a personal bet AND made a transphobic “joke” in front of Brianna Ghey’s grieving mother. The OED should change the definition of “deplorable” to Rishi Sunak.
Disgusted to hear Rishi Sunak make a transphobic jibe in the Commons, even as Brianna Ghey's mother is in the public gallery.
Brianna's horrific murder – which was confirmed as being motivated by transphobia – should have finally taught politicians not to spread this hate.

Hey I definitely feel like this a lot! Totally agree with the others: humans are not designed to work 8 hours continuously cause we will reach burnout. I have found that 3-4 hours is my ideal working time in a day, anymore and what I do is no longer productive!
(3/3) Hamlet and King Lear (even tho it probably didn’t cause I imagine everyone was poisoning everyone back then). But long story short, to say I was ✨shooketh ✨ is an understatement. I will now be declaring New Place as my ancestral home 💁🏻♀️
@ShakespeareBT
Seem to be, rather uncharacteristically, spending the evening at an ice hockey match. An ice hockey puck really isn’t the kind of Puck I am used to 💁🏻♀️
Stunned to be nominated for a
@Bruneluni
Alumni of the Year award😲
Turns out my lovely pal Steph (who I met in 2014 in our first
@EnglishatBrunel
lecture) nominated me in secret!
Any votes from Brunel student, staff or Alumni would be appreciated!
Reminds me of when I was at drama school and a fellow student said the exact same thing about Syrian people. It's clear, everyone is for "peace" until those being ethnically cleansed are not white. It's funny how many of the "justice for Ukraine" lot are quiet about Palestine 🤔
Currently in hospital for treatment and a man is sat talking loudly about how all Palestinians are terrorists and the only way to deal with them is 'his way' which is to 'bend them down on the ground and shoot them in the back of the head'... he's currently chuckling...
You can only imagine my shock when I turned on the TV yesterday to find 2024 is in fact going to be my year. Turns out I’m team captain on University Challenge for Imperial. My god, I had no idea I was so good at science. 🧪 🧬
Academic thought of the day: Love island, but with all the character of Midsummer, and then the entire character list of Twelfth Night for casa amor. All i'm saying is, movie night would be spicy🍿
So excited to be a part of this! Two live shows at the SI hall, and a third which will be screened so those who can’t make it and would like to see it can watch from their homes ✨
Not me, a 26-year-old, getting a belly button piercing and feeling like a rebellious 16-year-old who did it without her mum's permission. Twitter this is our secret, no one tell her. Thankfully she doesn't use twitter.
Good morning twitter. This morning I am being plagued by memories of when my mum (a total stage mum) convinced 4 year-old me to sing for the vicar and congregation and I choose "I'm just a girl who can't say no" from Oklahoma, obviously oblivious to what the song was about...
Book 2 of 2022 down. Everyone needs to read this book. It debunks all the myths surrounding veganism and is full of nothing but facts.
#Vegan
Favourite quote: ‘Going vegan really is our best chance to save the planet’ 🌎
Any one else applying for BSA nearly accidentally sign up for this instead?... Is it bad I lowkey want to go and pretend to be an expert on buildings....
Not me only realising today that the handkerchief in Othello must be a symbol of infection because handkerchiefs are often used to wipe runny noses. I feel like the only reason I have realised this now is due to me wiping my nose thanks to getting the 21stC plague.

Tomorrow’s gonna be exhausting. I’m spending the day at a work event, which means dancing, canapés, the odd game of croquet with my Eton chums… I mean colleagues… and a ridiculous amount of champers 🍾
#BorisJohnson
(2/3) and sold it to Shakespeare. Not to mention his son poisoned him to death in 1597 and his other son had to finish signing over the house to Shakespeare. I know it’s unlikely, but I am gonna indulge myself in the fantasy that this good ol’fashioned family poisoning inspired
Well the cat is out of the bag ... and I still can't believe it (had to check my emails multiple times back in October make SURE it wasn't a prank!!!)

Today I am both wearing black and having a tour of a rugby stadium. Words I thought I would never say. Is this a cry for help? Is this an alternate universe? Is this proof that we all just live in a video game? Probably. 🏉 🦇
Absolutely flabbergasted that I was named Student of the Year at the
@NCTJWolvColl
certificate ceremony today!
It has been an incredible journey from starting my

training (fully funded by
@The_JDF
) to working at
@TheOxfordMail
in my dream role 👩💻
To the future! 🥂
Once again with this government, fear-mongering trumps facts. Gender neutral bathrooms have never been a threat, it is vital we have more. Trans inclusive spaces are crucial. The rise in anti-LGBTQ+ hate crimes is a result of these dog whistles from the so-called government.
As a cis woman who campaigns for Womens rights and advocates for Womens safety, I’ve NEVER had an issue with trans people using toilets. What a stupid fucking thing to do and you’re putting trans people at risk.
I’ve criticised two winners of
#BBCSPOTY
awards who didn’t actually win anything to deserve them. Only one provoked outrage and hysterical charges of me being a ‘sexist, misogynist old fart.’
Am I not allowed to criticise women the same way I criticise men?
Isn’t that equality?
