Welcome aboard 🙌
Riding my bike - it's where sweat meets serenity 😂
Going out and pushing myself physically has given me a real sense of calm in my life.
I'm totally hooked.
Today I passed a little girl out cycling with her dad.
I asked her did she want to race & she took off and beat me to the nearest telephone pole.
It made me smile.
What made you smile today?
Everytime I come home from a gravel spin I think gravel is my favourite... but then everytime I come home from a road spin I think the same.
I guess I just love cycling ❤
Had to dip out early today on the group ride. I just couldnt hold the pace & was struggling big time.
So I said goodbye to the lads in the group and had a lovely solo (tail wind) ride home.
Back on the bike today after a few weeks off.
Had an amazing solo ride. Crisp weather, good podcast in my ears and BONUS ... no grief/close passes from motorists!
Did you spin?
200km ride done in about 8 hrs.
So so so much climbing 🥵
Thanks
@Wicklow200
for an amazing event and for organising the great weather (ye must have put out the child of Prague)
(I'll post my
@Strava
file soon!)
I've been having a hard time since I got back from Spain.
The gloomy weather I can deal with but the close passes & dangerous driving by motorists is getting to me in ways I could always shake off.
Before I would shrug & get on with the spin. Now my anger rises & that…
On my bike today. Trundling along but then got a weird feeling that I wasn't alone.
Turned around & there was a guy sitting on my wheel.
It scared the crap out of me
No introducing himself or making me aware he was there.
Is there etiquette around this?
PS I dropped him😉
Crashed last night at the club league. Nothing serious at all. The guy came down in front of me and I had time to bail into the bramble ditch to my left.
Nothing hurt too bad really... well, apart from my ego 😂
I SUCK AT THIS
After 3 weeks of v little training I'm back doing sessions and efforts.
Legs heavy, feel sluggish and it all just feels laboured.
So... right now I suck but I'm gonna keep going and keep digging in (and keep smiling)
This is Gabby, a local cyclist that was killed on Saturday doing what she loved most, riding her bike.
The community here is in such disbelief and sadness.
There are no words.
Rest in peace Gabby.
When I heard the news on Saturday evening I was in utter disbelief. A talented and Brillant cyclist taken away on the roads. Gabriele was a regular racer to Newry wheelers events and won the first Women’s 3 day in 2022.
May Gabriele Rest in peace 💔
I've been sick for a few days so was "grounded" (no bike, no gym, no walking the dogs, no anything).
Got out today for an easy spin.
Being sick sucks but really makes you appreciate your health.
Did you get out today?
Why argue disc brakes Vs rim brakes when we could all agree that our real enemy is headwind?
Tough tough solo spin. Every way I faced I felt it was head on!
Hope you got to gym, swim, run, bike or whatever you love doing today!
That look when you see the group waiting for you at the top of the climb.
We have some very classy riders in our club and some really lovely group ride etiquette.
Did you cycle, run, swim, gym (or whatever ur discipline is) today?

Cycling is tough but its given me so much. I was about 2 seconds from bursting into tears in this pic. Just having all the above feels.
don't think I've ever had to block so many people after my post the other day about close passes on the road.
There are a LOT of unhinged people out there.
Fair enough you don't agree with me but no need for the trolling.
So nice to get out for a spin today, I've been doing a lot on the
@wattbike
lately... I'm just too nervous on icy roads to go out and about.
Did you train today?
Thought my training week in Mallorca couldnt get any better but then I met this cycling SUPERSTAR at the airport.
Thanks for the pic

Made my day!
Riding on my own a few days ago.
A random male rider sat on my wheel, if I sped up to try shake him, he sped up. I slowed down hoping he would pass me but he stayed. I stopped to eat hoping he would go but he stopped a few hundred meters ahead of me.
Honestly, I was scared.
Lucky enough to get to do some warm weather bike riding last week in the UAE.
If you could click your fingers and transport yourself anywhere to go ride right now, where would it be?
Attributes of a good training partner
- Lets you sit on if you're suffering.
- Has a balance of understanding that you're suffering but will also tell you to dig deep if they know you have more in the tank.
- Buys the ice creams
84kms, 1200m not too bad... but add to that winds that made me question why I ever bought a bike
Luckily for me I had none other than the legend
@NathanPeterHaas
giving me words of encouragement
What a class act. I owe you a pint Nathan!
7 tips for new cyclists:
1. Fuel your rides (60g Carbs/hr)
2. Hydration (500ml /hr)
3. Correct saddle height
4. Learn how to change a tube & fix basic mechanicals
5. Use your gears
6. Vary your pace. 80% easy. 20% hard
7. Learn how to ride in a group
What would you add?
1st day bike packing trip completed.
What an adventure.
I started to come apart bad in the last 5kms but nothing a chocolate milk didnt fix!
We ride again at dawn!

Great adventure yesterday around the local gravel trails
(I think there is a niche in the market for a jersey with a shoulder pad/protection built in 😂)
My podcast about being followed by a creepy cyclist is out. I also cover how we can keep ourselves safe and how to watch out for others.
Please share it with your cycling buddies (especially females).
It's available on all podcast platforms.
115kms 1625m of gravel routes, mtb routes and a small bit of road.
Honestly think I would have DNF'd if I hadn't bumped into
@Roadman_Podcast
at 50km mark and he fed me and let me sit on his wheel for the rest of the day 🥰
Santa Vall 3 Day Gravel Race - Done!
I think I have maybe 6 or 7 people blocked
Since I blocked them my days & mental health have been better
Learning the block function is going to be removed, I've been thinking about it all day with dread
I hate to think that those really toxic trolls can even see what I post
Not gonna lie. This is a tough topic but I implore everyone to listen and share this podcast, especially with non-cyclists.
Gabby is sadly missed, she was so smart, talented, kind, funny and wow could that girl win bike races.
She was killed doing what she and so many of us…
Please share 🙏
Last week a former team mate of mine was hit & killed out training.
Sean Landers joined me on the pod today to talk about the day his partner Gabby was hit & killed by a car.

Day 2 in Mallorca (aka "Cycling Valhalla") has me thinking
Holidays to me used to be -
Get up late after a heavy night partying
Breakfast mimosas
Poolside beers/cocktails
Boozy dinner
Pub
Club
Kebab
And repeat for 7-14 days
I'm am definitely in a happier spot now
Thought my training week in Mallorca couldnt get any better but then I met this cycling SUPERSTAR at the airport.

Setting out on a ride - how many times on average do you have to go back into your house because you forgot your bike computer, lights, gloves, pump, tube etc.
For me the number is approx 12
