Bertuccio's line today was filthy: 6.0 innings, 3 hits, 0 walks, 12 strikeouts. She faced just 3 batters over the minimum. Of her 78 pitches, 59 were strikes. The true freshman is now 3-0 with a 1.78 ERA.

Congratulations to freshman shortstop Shea Graves who was named the Big Sky Player of the Week! In five games (Hornets went 4-1), Graves hit .444 (8-for-18) with six runs scored, two doubles, two home runs and seven RBIs.

Welcome to the family our new volunteer assistant coach Saige Pye! A two-time all-region selection, Pye hit .398 in 3 seasons at Marshall with 34 homers, 102 RBIs and a .777 SLG% That included a Marshall program-record 20 home runs last season.

Congratulations to head coach Lori Perez, who received a 5-year contract that will keep her with the Hornets through at least the 2024 season! Hornets are 75-41 in conference play since she took over as head coach in 2014.

Marissa Bertuccio is no joke! Against one of the top teams in the Big Sky, she went 2-0 with 2 shutouts against Portland State. In 14 innings, she allowed 10 hits (8 singles) with no runs, 3 walks and 12 strikeouts. Vikings hit just .196. Bertuccio is now 14-4 with a 2.07 ERA.
Bertuccio had one of the better freshman seasons in program history: 5-2 with a 1.88 ERA. In 63.1 innings, she struck out 47 batters with just 9 walks, good for a massive 5.2-to-1 strikeout to walk ratio.

In 54-plus years of Hornet softball, no player had ever homered 3 times in the same game. That changed today! Congratulations to junior Alondra Mejia who was 4-for-4 with 3 home runs in today's win at Montana.

What better way to pick up your 20th win of the season by also throwing a no-hitter! Corr (20-13) becomes the 5th Hornet in the Div. I era to win 20 games in a season while also throwing her 2nd no-hitter of the year in a 15-0 Big Sky Tournament win over Idaho State.

Sophomore Shea Graves currently ranks among the Big Sky's top 5 players in batting average (2nd, .429), hits (2nd, 12), slugging percentage (3rd, .607), on-base percentage (4th, .467) and total bases (4th, 17). Also leads the league with 24 assists.

BIG SKY CO-REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONS! Weber State just beat Idaho State (9-5), meaning the Hornets (10-5) have secured at least a share of the Big Sky regular season championship with Idaho State. Should ISU lose to WSU tomorrow, Hornets will win the regular season title outright
Congratulations to Savanna Corr for being nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award! The award recognizes graduating female college athletes who distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership during their collegiate careers.
A Mejia walkoff ground ball scores Vretzos with the game winner as the Hornets beat Boise State, 4-3, in 8 innings. Bertuccio, a true freshman, gets the complete game win in her first collegiate start. Hornets now 3-0 for the first time since 1995.

A 15-0 win and a NO-HITTER! Hornets beat Idaho State, 15-0, in mercy rule shortened 5 innings in the Big Sky Tournament. And Corr throws her second no-hitter of the season, allowing just 2 walks with 9 strikeouts! First Hornet to throw multiple no-hitters in a season since 2006.
Look who took a late night flight to Taiwan! Good luck to Celina Matthias, who will play for the Chinese Taipei national team into November. The 2-time all-region selection and 2-time Big Sky Pitcher of the Year will become the 6th Hornet to play for a national team.

Suzy Brookshire, who will enter her junior season with the Hornets, is currently playing well for Mexico at the Softball World Championships in Japan. Brookshire has started every game at the tournament and is batting .375. Read more:
Bertuccio was dominant again in another complete-game win. In 7 innings, she allowed just 5 hits and 1 run while striking out 4 batters. The freshman has allowed 2 earned runs in her last 22 innings, and improved to 5-0 with a 1.53 ERA.

Hornets put together a great spring semester in the classroom, posting a 3.478 team GPA and lifting the overall GPA to a 3.232. Of the 23 players on the roster, 19 posted a spring GPA of 3.0 or better. That includes 4.0 GPAs from Bertuccio and Snow.

HUGE thank you to Jim Wetzel, who recently announced his retirement. Wetzel spent 5 years with the Hornets (2015-19) as a volunteer assistant, helping the program to 139 combined wins, including 63-37 in league play. Wetzel is a longtime coach in the Sacramento area.
