Fred Dean has died at 68, from coronavirus. The 49ers acquired him from San Diego in 1981 and won the Super Bowl (and another in 1984). The Hall of Famer was known to enjoy a cigarette before he played a hellacious game or endured a long training camp practice in Rocklin.

Aaron Rodgers purchased & donated 375 helmets to Chico High, Paradise High & his alma mater of Pleasant Valley High. The VICIS ZERO1 helmets are top-rated hats, according to the NFL/NFLPA labortory tests. Kudos to the QB who says of his roots, "Those kids deserve the best."

My dad wasn’t a sports fantastic but he was sporty good fun. Taught us 6 kids how to sail, swim, ski, row, hike and to chase adventure. When I wrote stories, he’d challenge me, “tell me about the people!” He died today, a good man who lived a great life, loved by many.

Sad news for @Raiders and @raiderfans everywhere - Willie Brown has died. A Hall of Famer who then became a longtime Raiders assistant coach. Had 75-yard interception return for a touchdown in Super Bowl XI w Bill King narrating, "Old man Willie! Touchdown Raiders!" He was 78.

Au’Diese Toney, an all-time defender at Arkansas, had a workout with the Kings today. He’s 6-7. He’s also as good of a defender Razorbacks and longtime coach Eric Musselman said he has coached. These guys make NBA teams struggling to defend a bit better.

It's OK to strive for a D-I athletic scholarship but it's wise to be realistic. Go where it fits. Don't dismiss a JC as something less than you when it may actually be just right for you. Don't underestimate the coaches, the competition, the experiences. JC for any sport rocks

An incredible victory for Monterey Trail, which beats Folsom 35-23, ending Folsom's 9-year streak of reaching a title game. This is Folsom's first playoff loss of any sort since 2016. Folsom had won 96 of 98 in @cifsjs play. Monterey Trail has great OL/D, coaching, players.

Jonah Williams of @FolsomBulldogFB fame will go in 1st round of NFL Draft. Mocks have him as high as 4 to the Raiders. He's a cerebral, good dude who is a destroyer in the trenches. As dominant/great a HS player I've seen in 30 years in the biz (he looked like a man in HS even).

In a word: Wow. @SacHornetsFB crushed FBS member Colorado State 41-10 on the road to move to 3-0 for the first time since 1992. @AshOHara10 , @jdunni12 , @camskattebo5 and a terrific defense led the charge. Now if only fans would fill up Hornet Stadium for a peek.

It's never a good look or sound when parents plead with the @cifsjs or @CIFState to have a HS football playoff game venues moved. Why? "It's too far" or "it's not safe" or "our boys deserve to host this game." Just cheer and appreciate the fact that your kid is still competing.
