LEO on site @ Savannah High and Savannah Early College this morning in response to unconfirmed reports of a gunman in the area of the campus. A lockdown was initiated. There is no information to confirm that the reports are accurate; however, we take all threats very seriously.
Congrats to SCCPSS Teacher of the Year Cherie Dennis! Tonight the Hesse K8 teacher was named STATE Teacher of the Year! She will represent all teachers in the state of Georgia over the next year, and be Georgia's rep for National Teacher of the Year!

Savannah Fire congratulates 17-year-old hero Taequan Mitchell, a Savannah High student, who woke his elderly neighbor Stephen Solomon, and pulled him from a burning home at 2238 Alaska St. Monday night.

A heartwarming holiday effort by Jenkins High School National Honor Society students! They wrote 150 Holiday Cards to be distributed among nursing homes in Savannah! Proud of our students!

Gadsden Elem. was recently awarded a National Green Ribbon for teaching conscientious environmental preservation with energy-saving strategies. Now it's been awarded a Gro More Good Hydro for Hunger Grant to provide the school with Hydroponic equipment & supplies!

For the 9th year in a row, West Chatham Middle School students raised thousands for the American Red Cross Dollars for Disaster Campaign - $3,403.31! Congratulations to teacher Faith Crawford and her 7th grade homeroom for raising the most money!
Announced today! Ga Ports to work w/SCCPSS through YES (Youth learning Equipment & Safety) Program to hire & train high school grads for careers in the port industry! 6 employees already referred to GPA by schools after taking classes & expressing interest in logistics careers.
Now that Hurricane Ian has skedaddled on out of here, our crews have conducted preliminary assessments of all facilities and found no damage! All systems are GO for a return to normal operations on Monday, October 3! See you Monday, everybody!

It was a beautiful day for a ribbon cutting on Friday as we held the ceremony for the spectacular new ESPLOST-funded Jenkins High School facility. Students have been in the building since August - but the ribbon cutting had been delayed due to COVID.

Coastal Middle School students are helping their "Partners in Education" U.S. Coast Guard Station Tybee! The students collected and donated 339 gift cards totaling over $2500 to the men and women of the Coast Guard affected by the Federal government shutdown.
