this guy who got cut from the USFL because he wanted pizza.
super unfortunate this is post-MLL days; all you can eat pizza after every game… would have welcomed him with open arms.
Just saw a high school kid post his summer schedule on Twitter
He is playing in 13 events
He is playing in “showcases” or tournament every single day from June 18-July 1st
It is impossible to play at a high level when you play 14 days straight
Playing more isn’t always good.
- The arms race in club lacrosse continues to accelerate. No other way to put it. Teams from MD carrying kids from Texas, NY, NC, etc. Teams from NY carrying kids Florida and Virginia. Clubs flying kids in to play for them. It gets insane but it’s the world we operate in now.
Parents - Let your children communicate with coaches. It’s a skill that will benefit them later in life with college coaches, teachers and a future boss.
It’s also very easy to tell when an email is written by a parent and not a 14-18yr old.
Matt Moore was the
#1
ranked mid in his recruiting class. He’s now at attack.
Connor Shellenberger was the
#1
attackman in his class. He’s now playing mid.
Ian Laviano has been starting at attack at UVA for 25 years and is now playing midfield.
Take note young “attackman”
As long as I am involved in this beautiful club lacrosse world, I’ll never understand the decision of programs to send their youth teams 6-7 hours away from home to play in B brackets.
Please explain how the
@NCAA
feels it’s safe to have fans at basketball game’s inside in March but the
@IvyLeague
doesn’t feel safe playing lacrosse games outside in April and May with no fans?
How does the science work?
There are high school kids who say they want to play college lacrosse who aren’t willing to do this.
Terry Lindsay has started at Duke for 3-4 years now.
It’s 11:00 pm after
@DukeMLAX
just beat UNC in OT & these guys are out practicing.
Me: “Shouldn’t you be celebrating?”
Terry Lindsay: “Got to get better.”
There’s a reason he’s a two-time captain.
Respect. ✊
Ovi knocked out an 18 year old.
The Pacers tried to fight the fans.
Andre Johnson tried to kill Cortland Finnegan.
MLB has a brawl every week.
I think
@PremierLacrosse
will be just fine.
The award has been handed out 19 times. 15 years it went to attackman.
Let’s just stop calling it an award for the best player in college lacrosse and just call it the Offensive Player of the Year award.
🚨 BREAKING - Our 10 finalists for 2021 have been announced, and we'll name the winners live at
@PremierLacrosse
's June 5 game at Gillette Stadium.

PSA to all defenseman and LSMs playing college lacrosse today:
If an offensive player is sweeping across the top of the box, throw an over the head check. It’s the right play.

The athletes weren’t as big, fast, strong or skilled in 1989. The stick technology wasn’t anything close to what it is today. Collison is 6’4” 225lbs and running at the defenders top hand. Come on. You go over the head here and it’s a goal. Come on.
Thank you for entertaining us for the last 4 years.
Can’t wait to see what you do on the basketball court and in
@PremierLacrosse
over the next 10+ years.
I may be out of line but making calls on what sports can and can’t start in this environment seems to be a little too specific.
Baseball and volleyball where hands are always touching the ball are safer than lacrosse and hockey where your hands are literally in gloves. Come on.
If I am an Ivy League grad transfer, why wouldn’t I want to spend a year in Chapel Hill, compete for a national championship and start my MBA at a top 25 business school?
Justin Anderson (Las Vegas, Nevada)
Dylan Hess (Ponte Vedra, Florida)
Graham Bundy (St. Louis, Missouri)
Wheaton Jackoboice (Kansas City, Missouri)
All game changers yesterday. None are from the traditional hotbeds of lacrosse.
Recruit the non-hotbeds.
We’ve got another club program in our area DM’ing some of our middle school kids trying to recruit them.
Grown men with families DM’ing 13 year old boys
Not their adult parents
Adults sending DM’s directly to 13 year olds on Instagram
The club sports world is a swamp.
I’ve been coaching youth lacrosse for the last 9 years as I’ve played professionally. My guys have never been more excited about the pro game. Every night they are asking about
@PremierLacrosse
and specific players/teams. This summer is going to be special!
.
@NovaLacrosse
has 5 losses. All to Denver and Gtown. 2 by 1 goal and 1 by 2 goals. 1 was the first game of the season with half the team in quarantine.
Why shouldn’t they make the tournament over 5-loss Syracuse... who is last in the ACC and has been blown out by Army, ND, UNC
ICYMI:
@TigerLacrosse
pulled off a huge win last night over
@DU_MLAX
in Coach Tierney’s return to Princeton.
Michael Sowers also reminded us all that he is very good.
Appreciate the continued support
@notthefakeSVP
Gutted for every NCAA athlete having their season ended so abruptly.
My unsolicited advice:
Pursue a 5th year and take advantage of it. Any future employer should understand and if they don’t, that’s not a place you want to work any way. Everyone is pulling for you!
Anderson Moore from Briarwood Christian Academy in Birmingham, Alabama. Starting goalie at Georgetown as a freshman.
- Didn’t run to a boarding school
- Didn’t reclass
- Didn’t shop the country for club teams
Just worked hard and got really good.
More people will watch lacrosse on TV today than any other day in history. That’s a very good thing.
@PremierLacrosse
Championship at 2:30pm on
@NBC
#GoChrome
I can’t wait until professional lacrosse gets to a place where guys like Jared Bernhardt and Pat Spencer would rather be doing that than basketball in Germany or mid-major college football.
Man the
@HPUMensLax
team plays hard!
Going toe to toe with the
#2
team in the country on a Tuesday afternoon when they struggled at the X.
The HPU coaching staff is as good as it gets! They will literally play anyone, anywhere, anytime and have proven they can win those games
If you’re a youth lacrosse parent (2027 and below) and have “national” teams, camps or “recruiting consultants” DM’ing your kid directly on social media, I would love to see it.
My DMs are open.
This stuff has gotten out of control.
I’m not an expert in this area and I don’t follow Syracuse closely enough but….
Between how they handled all the communication around Scanlan and now how they have handled the communication around Desko retiring and GG being hired…
I think there is some room for improvement.
The fact that youth sports are still being categorized in to different risk categories by states is mind blowing.
Kids can watch the NCAA, NFL, NBA, MLB, PLL, NHL, etc. be played on TV then they are told it’s not safe for them to play.
Make Princeton vs. Notre Dame/Duke a play in game.
It’s criminal to not have UVA, Duke and ND all in the NCAA tournament. I understand they have a good RPI but Princeton didn’t make their own conference tourney.
There has to be some sanity check on RPI at some point.
Here is how some of the most skilled lacrosse players in the world complete a simple drill on fundamentals to start practice.
Full speed and every pass from the shoulder to the shoulder.
We had some kids leave our club this year for greener grass. We had sent them to the top events and they struggled. Now they are traveling to weak events and playing in the B brackets at their new club.
I’d rather compete with the best than ask players to waste time and money.
Not enough people are talking about
@justglaze
using all his vacation time to play in the
@PremierLacrosse
Championship Series. Hardest working guy in the league.
Kyle Hartzell not being on a training camp roster is a complete joke for
@PremierLacrosse
I’m all for giving new guys opportunities but not when it means someone who is clearly better and deserving gets shafted.
A reminder to tournament directors…
When a club program hands you $2k-40k to play at an event, the club director/coach are a customer. As are all the players and kids that come to your event.
If you don’t want to be in the customer service business, don’t run tournaments.
Two of the things I will always struggle with in the club lacrosse world:
- Non-hot bed teams traveling to hotbeds and putting all their teams in a “B” bracket. If you’re asking your families to travel that far, give them the real experience. Otherwise save them the money.
Amazing that more teams haven’t started playing Sunday night games. The entire lacrosse world is focused on you for the night. It’s HUGE for recruiting.
If you’re a high school lacrosse player and you don’t love the weight room, cross
@DukeMLAX
off your list.
Watch them for 5 minutes and you can tell they spend a ton of time in the gym! A bunch of meat sticks.
If you’re going to run youth lacrosse events, you cannot knowingly allow people to cheat.
If you’re going to post rules to the event on your website then ask families to spend a ton of money to participate in the event, you’re expected to enforce the rules on your own website.
No one hates multi sport athletes more than soccer coaches. From Kindergarten through college. The kings of specialization…. And the biggest sport in the world.
If you’re an attackman, learn to play midfield. If you’re a midfielder, play defense. If you play pole, learn to play close. If you play close, learn to play pole. The guy who can only do one thing or has a bad attitude about another position, is a waste.
We’re very fortunate that this doesn’t impact us much but…
One of the softest things going on in club lacrosse is these teams from hotbed areas picking off kids from non-hotbeds to play for them.
If you’re in MD, DC, NY, etc. and you can’t develop the local guys… Work harder.
These kinds of comments to
@AnishESPN
are absolute trash. After 6-7 years working with him, I can confidently tell you he knows as much or more about college lacrosse than anyone in our sport. Guy works his 🥜’s off.
@AnishESPN
@MattyMike0718
Your a play by play announcer not an expert on lacrosse. Stick to announcing games and leave ranking teams to people that actually research all the games and analyze outcomes.
I feel for the kids in North Carolina and South Carolina
The local news and even some school media outlets has ignored lacrosse for the last month.
Football starts and we get play by play coverage of every single game from every outlet in week 1.
I’ve spent most weekends in the Spring playing or coaching lacrosse for the last 20 years. Today I tried this thing called vacuuming.
The vacuum is now broken and I ripped a window dressing off the wall.
Now I get to try using these things called tools.
Might stick to sports.
I would like to propose a rule change that attackman must play with long poles. Using a smaller stick gives them an advantage vs. some of other players on the field.
Every year
@JAX_MLAX
and
@HPUMensLax
scoop up studs from the South that other programs just didn’t bother watching or recruiting.
Then every Spring we watch Jax and HPU go toe to toe and beat some of the best teams in the country and people act surprised.
I love it.
Bubba Fairman has to be so pissed that he’s playing defensive midfield while the Terps put up 23 on the
#2
team in the country and win the game by 11.
lol.
- You can waste a ton of money on showcases. There is one every day and a lot of them stink.
Spend your money on a strength and speed coach. If you want to stand out, get bigger, faster and stronger. Don’t just play more.
Over 10 years of coaching in the club world, I’ve found that kids would rather compete honestly in good games than break the rules and play down in a younger bracket just to win.
It’s usually ego that gets in the way of that happening.
If you’re witnessing it as a parent, run.
This is one of my favorite things…
Tom Schreiber didn’t play box until after his college career was over.
Think about that next time you hear someone say a 4th grader has to pay $1000 for an elite box travel team for the “development”
A reminder that Blaze plays attack (forward) in the winter then they throw him in goal in the summer.
And some kids (parents) start to question everything when they move from attack to midfield or close to LSM.
Love to play and you’ll find joy in it all.
A quick lesson for the “club lacrosse is bad for the sport” crowd
The sports governing body (
@USLacrosse
) runs a youth tournament. It costs $1,600/team. If I wanted send a team to this event, it would cost me about $500/player.
I have to pay for...
One of the best parts of
@PremierLacrosse
content is that fans get to see:
- How much we are getting coached and want to be coached
- How important lacrosse IQ is
- How much we communicate
- How much fun we have
Position-less lacrosse.
Petro, Egan and Tillman were all recruited as attackman. All playing midfield today.
Kids - Learn to play offense. Don’t think of yourself as an attackman or a midfielder!
NORTH CAROLINA HIGH SCHOOL LACROSSE PLAYERS
I’m running a FREE training session from 4-5pm today at Rise Indoor Sports in Bermuda Run, NC. Open to anyone from 9-12th grade. Just come get coached and get better!
Shoot me a DM to learn more.
One of the best coaches I ever had believed that if we went 60% at the X and in goal, we would a championship.
Adler was 60%+ last night for
@DukeMLAX
Naso was 62% at the X.
Going to be real tough to beat Duke if those two keep playing that well.
You can’t say enough positive things about
@KyleHarrison18
and it’s tough to put his impact in to words. He’s been a mentor and role model for myself and hundreds of other guys over the last 17+ years. Without him, this sport most certainly isn’t where it is today.
