The statue of William ‘Squires’ Gannon, the first person to hold ‘Sam Maguire’ being installed in Kildare Town today. Regarded as one of Kildare's greatest-ever players, Gannon captained the team to the All-Ireland title in 1928.

Round Towers received a Gold Award tonight at the Caman Cill Dara Club Hurling Awards. The award is a tribute to the massive amount of work being put into the development and promotion of hurling in the club, schools and the wider community.
