Once upon a time in Kashmir, this was our home in Rainawari. Written on these broken walls is a tragedy that should never be forgotten.

I NEVER had the choice to wear anything but school uniform all thru my school yrs. Infact we were even punished for wearing a colored hair band when only black was allowed :) This specific FREEDOM OF CHOICE being debated is nothing but brining religion where it does not belong.
Once upon a time in Kashmir, this was my ancestral home in Rainawari, Srinagar. Every visit brings back happy childhood memories of time spent with family ... but also an extremely painful feeling of a lost home.

Once upon a time in

this was our home in Rainawari...
Written on the walls of this broken home are many forgotten stories of '89 - '90, that speak volumes of the other side of Kashmiriyat.
Lest we forget.
With this logic ... Congress party should be dissolved for losing 3 general elections in a row & not managing to touch 3 digits, after 10 years in the opposition.
A responsible power would have ensured completion of investigation before levelling such strong allegations on another nation. We know this probably plays out well for him domestically with a certain vote bank but the world is watching too.
India just escalated tensions by suspending visa services in Canada. A responsible power would have taken no further action and sought diplomatic negotiations when/if possible. I know this plays well domestically in India, but the world is watching too.
Closest any form of art has come to the reality of
#KashmiriPandits
forced exodus in 1990. Powerful, gut-wrenching & heart-breaking ... it has shown the most brutal facts of this forgotten history in the most graceful way possible.
@AnupamPKher
in every frame is beyond brilliant.
In the heat of the moment, I said something which I did not mean which has hurt the sentiments of many. I apologise for this, this was not intended at all, genuine mistake. Sports unites people regardless of race, colour or religion.

For the lady who is trending today over her Covid negative report - what can a virus possibly kill, in a morally corrupt person.
I Remember these words said by her for the entire nation.
Flashback Kashmir, 1990: Posters of Free Kashmir with Islamist crowd’s sloganeering of ‘Hum Kya Chahte, Aazadi - Aazadi ka matlab kya? La Ilaha Illallah’. Fear psychosis among minorities.
Below video is from Gateway of India in Mumbai today. Video:

I know nobody wants to hear this but KPs are the most pampered minority group in India.

please talk to Delhi pogrom survivors to learn what being refugee in one's own country feel like.
Shehla Rashid is BEST left ignored. I will say this regardless of anything. FIR & an arrest would be a dream come true situation for her right now. From playing victim to a martyr..
That's because Farooq Abdullah resigned & ran away to London. But remember the rigged 1987 elections in J&K ?!? The legacy of Abdullah's & their contribution to all that went wrong in the valley would require a separate film altogether.

I was at Wankhede stadium when he played the last shot that made Indian lift the World Cup in 2011. The entire stadium was reverberating with "DHONI" & "INDIAAAA ... INDIA". That moment is imprinted in my mind. Thank you Captain ... from 1.3 billion Indians.

@AdityaRajKaul
Story of Kashmir is not written in blood by "All sides" ... but by terrorists like Yasin Malik. Not a SINGLE Kashmiri Pandit picked up a gun despite the forced exodus. And
#TheKashmirfiles
is not " one more narrative" it's a tragic reality our families lived thru. A brutal one.
Weeks of battling Covid at the age of 82, parents are finally back home ... & I can't stop counting my blessings today. Heartfelt gratitude for all the doctors & nurses working round the clock at the hospitals, away from their families, risking their lives to save others.
I remember 50 yrs of independence. We hoisted the tricolour at school, sang the national anthem. Listened to Rahman's 'Maa Tujhe Salaam' on tape - play, rewind, play. We felt proud and patriotic, and it all came naturally. No one asked us to do it. They were simpler times.

The propaganda around Jagmohan, former J&K governor had been carefully crafted over the years to peddle lies about the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. Read this piece by
@AdityaRajKaul
published last year. And please watch
#TheKashmirFiles
to know the TRUTH
How many IAS officers resigned & how many voices raising their pitch today had spoken during the post Burhan Wani phase of violence, innumerable curfews before that & countless hurriyat calls for shut down in the valley down the decades. SELECTIVE OUTRAGE is senseless.
#Kashmir
Done it a million times over ... yet, trips to Srinagar never complete without a Shikara ride at Dal lake with the most beautiful view of Zabarwan range :)
Some news: at an oath-taking ceremony today in lower Manhattan, I became a US citizen. Less than a year after the Modi govt stripped me of my status in India, it is amazing to be part of this great country. I hope to vote in Nov—my first time!—for the bigheartedness I saw today.
Imagine if just a hundred
#KashmiriPandits
sat at Lal Chowk protesting to get justice ...
Imagine if they refused to stop their protest unless rehabilited back in their homes in the valley ...
Just imagine that possibility...& what that would lead to ...
Basically he just threw his grandmother, father & Manmohan Singh together under the bus in this one speech. Not to mention, came across seriously entitled !

The most stunning view of the majestic mountains is during the Zoji la drive located at an altitude of 11,578 ft. Your heart is sure to skip multiple beats at each narrow turn & trust me ... pictures don't even begin to justify the incredible experience of that drive !
There is no philosophy in today's world more misused than "Liberalism" & more misguided than "Feminism".
Both currently being manufactured in the same factory of HYPOCRISY.
The person who wrote "What can a virus kill in a morally corrupt nation" for Indians in 2020 & called the captain of the Indian Cricket team a "Pimp" on the same platform ... talks about "Sentiment that runs parallel to hate" !
As a Kashmiri Pandit whose entire family was uprooted from their home in Rainawari, I just want to say ... THANK YOU

patients has gone up SIGNIFICANTLY with the sudden surge in Maharashtra. PLEASE MASK UP & be responsible while socialising. It's a long way from being over.
Worth noticing the HYPOCRISY behind the dead silence from many otherwise v vocal handles ag any remote communal happening outside of Kashmir.
They will call slogans of Jai Shree Ram as threatening, but cold blooded killing of a Kashmir Pandit in Kashmir is not worth a mention.
King Charles will give his first speech from St Paul's Cathedral. Absolutely no one has a problem with that. In fact the BBC is proudly displaying the Christian faith.
Dedicated to all those that think the UK is a secular country.
Beautiful sketch depicting the indigenous people of Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh and even Pakistan Occupied Jammu, Kashmir and Gilgit, Baltistan, Chitral, Hunza in traditional attire. This entire region belongs to India. Good way to spread awareness about the forgotten communities. 🇮🇳

He also writes about his confessions of cold bloodedly killing many armed & unarmed Kashmiris, four IAF men along with a Kashmiri Pandit judge named Justice Neelkanth Ganju.

The journalist in question is not chided for expecting to hear from the head of ISRO.....he is being criticised for the disrespectful manner & tone in which he spoke to the ISRO scientist. That was way out of line.
Some folks are sharing this to show up NDTV as unpatriotic. That’s absurd. While a national outpouring of affection for ISRO is understandable—and in some ways even commendable—in no free country would a journalist be chided for expecting to hear from the head of an organization.
Ma's first birthday in over a decade when I am not at home. Missing celebrating it with her ... missing the tahar & phirni that would have been made today ... but MOST OF ALL ... just miss hugging her ❤️
Whenever I see an article on Kashmir, specially in NYT & Washington Post...I first check the writer...then I decide to read further. It tells me exactly how biased or not that piece is going to be.

Correction - Pandits were not asked to leave. They were "FORCED" to leave. They were told "leave, convert or die". Ethnic cleansing was not exactly done politely.
