Thanks to everyone celebrating the 20th anniversary of My Life as a Teenage Robot. To show my appreciation, I'm writing a new

There was no intentional transgender subtext but that doesn't mean the subtext isn't there. Art is open to the audience's interpretation. I'm pleased that Jenny's struggles resonate with some members of the transgender community.
@RobRenzetti
Hey, a lot of people need to know, was this intended to reference the Transgender Pride Flag? Were the themes of the show intended to be a parallel to transgender experiences?
@RobRenzetti
@CrackMcCraigen
The ending of this episode of Dexter's Laboratory where Dexter grew in height to get on a roller coaster was so sudden it puzzled me as a kid, and now as an adult I crack up at it for the abruptness😆🤣
The first season models are done early, before anyone's had a real chance to draw the characters. As everyone gets more practice, you discover deviations from the model that you like. The pause between seasons is your chance to officially implement those changes.
@RobRenzetti
Wasn't really a serious question there, but thank you for answering anyway!!
Here's a more serious question; what were the reasons behind the design changes between SI and SII? Streamlining the animation process, solidifying the style, etc.?
CN was on board with this every step of the way until it was ready to air. In the end it was just too raw for them and we felt the same. We also thought it was BLEEPin hilarious.

To (belatedly) celebrate the 19th anniversary of Teenage Robot I'm going to post the entire 2nd season main model pack under
#mlaatrmodels
This is THE definitive How To Draw MLaaTR for all teenage robot fans. Enjoy
At the end of a long argument on
#GravityFalls
both
@_AlexHirsch
and I realized we'd been agreeing with each other the whole time and Alex drew this. Looking forward to more heated agreements as we join up once again on some super secret
#Netflix
stuff.
Here are the rough turnarounds for the mains in the
#mlaatrmodels
I wanted to include these in the model pack because something is always lost in the cleanups. Plus I love everything Alex Kirwan draws
@SuperiorArtemis
@PelleCreepy
We laughed really hard and figured the audience would as well. The idea being that the act was so good that they all died from delight and ascended to Heaven.
On Tuesday, I'm releasing the next chapter of the new

story in which Jenny will confront a new, THIRD Crust Cousin 🤯 Only subscribers to my newsletter will get to read all the juicy details, so what are you waiting for? Sign up now at
My pitch for
#mlaatr
toys was "Transformers for Girls" Had no idea how misguided that was till I started working with
@Fyre_flye
on
#mlp
The toy biz was (still is?) super segregated by gender. There are toys for boys and toys for girls and never the two shall meet.
@RobRenzetti
Which btw I always wondered, was there ever a deal or chance of an offer for Mlaatr to get official toys made? Or was no opportunity came up? I imagine there would be a some neat toy ideas that utilized some of Jenny's ability as a toy, but hopefully not like in that one episode.
To celebrate 16 years of
#mlaatr
I want to celebrate the art director of
#teenagerobot
and my friend Alex Kirwan. He is one of the most talented and sweetest people I know and deserves the lion's share of the credit for the look of the show. Just look at how wonderfully he draws!
1000% agree. “CalArts style” as a term of derision goes all the way back to the early 90’s and was leveled against many of the shows I was involved in. It has been used against so many shows with such a wide range of design that it really means nothing more than “I don’t like it”
When MLAATR was ending its production Alex Kirwan made a couple of Jenny sculptures with help from the company Pretty In Plastic
Most of the ones made used Jenny's regular colours but there was one made using Jenny's hot rod design
Happy Octoberween! In order to celebrate the Halloween season, I'm going to post a bunch of Mina & the Count stuff throughout this wonderful month. Stay tuned...
DeeDeeMensional was the first episode I ever storyboarded for Dexter's Lab. Was super nervous to write and draw these characters after Genndy, Craig and Paul had already put their stamp on them but excited to do a time travel story. I'm sucker for time travel.
To start off 2022

model sheet posts, here's the definitive turnaround for Jenny done at the start of Season 2. If you'd like to have Brad and Tuck follow me on Instagram
(A little bribery to up my numbers over there 😉)
To all the Teenage Robot Fans asking about new stuff-
1)
@NickAnimation
owns the rights to the show, not me
2) No one has contacted me about any sort of revival
3) There is a fan group making new eps on their own at
Background paintings from the first run of Samurai Jack (2001–2004), created by Genndy Tartakovsky, Cartoon Network Studios
Pieces by Scott Wills, Richard Daskas and Jenny Gase-Baker
I was lurking around the Twitter other day.
And stumbled upon
@DWXJ9
account.
"Oh right. this show was a thing" i thought to myself.
While also thinking "oh my god i forgot how cute and nice this show looks".
A couple days of modelling later and Presto! Here's Jenny. She's nice.
Victim of Fashion was supposed to be a normal 11 minute episode but I loved the work by the board artists and design team so much that I couldn't bring myself to cut it down so we expanded it instead. They teach you to 'kill your darlings' but I'll let these darlings live!
First images from Kid Cosmic, new series from
@CrackMcCraigen
(The Powerpuff Girls, Wander Over Yonder). It's set to launch February 2 on Netflix. Animated by

(Tangled: The Series, Hilda) in Ottawa.
I turn 20 for the 33rd time today so, as a reverse birthday gift, I’m sending the first 20 people to request one a postcard with a quick sketch of a MLaaTR (or other) character. I’ll DM you and you can DM me back with your name address and requested character.
In 7 days XJ9 is back in action! You’ll be able to read her new adventure by subscribing to my newsletter at AND you’ll also have a few awesome illustrations drawn by none other than

genius art director Alex Kirwan 💥🤖💥
More shameless retweeting. This is one of my favorite episodes. Wrote these silly jokes up against a deadline one weekend. Happy they make people happy.
You’ve got the arms right but the back foot should not be off the ground. The toes should be touching. Only when the front foot goes flat does the back foot go up. A friendly critique of your friendly reminder. 😉
Had a great time talking with Gene and Vee but my internet connection wouldn't let me draw, so here's a sketch based off Gene's doodle of a viewer's suggestion.
