Kenny Smith says only 5,000 people in the history of the world have played in the NBA. Do the math and have a plan B and C for your life and make sure it includes getting an education.
If you are transferring from Juco to Juco you are not “ entering the transfer portal” . The Njcaa does not have a “ transfer portal” . You are just transferring.
Grad Transfers, D1 lateral transfers, D2 transfers, Juco transfers, juco sophomores, Post Grad players and Seniors in HS. If you think there are a lot of scholarships out there , do the math...
Western Oklahoma State, Sophomore guard, Dylan O’Hearn, has committed to NJIT. Dylan is a first team All Region and All Conference selection who led Region 2 scoring with 23.1 ppg.
The lifespan of a college coach seems to be shorter these days. Recruit Junior College players. Ready play right away. Production vs College players not HS. Physically mature and adept at fast paced level of play. Take the “ potential” out of recruiting and go for production.
RIP Marcos “Shakey” Rodriguez , a giant in Miami Dade County Basketball and trailblazer as the first Cuban American NCAA 1 Head Coach (FIU). Coaches like Shakey and the late Cesar Odio (Barry) paved the way for Cuban American head college coaches like myself.
‼️Walk-On Spot‼️just became available. HS/AAU coaches, we have one spot available for a quality player. It’s late and opportunities are few and far between. Great opportunity for under-recruited kid to get foot in the door and move up.
Building a solid foundation is essential to a strong program. Recruiting starts early here and although they have been signed for 23/24 for a while, I want to formally welcome back Jack and Chang Hoth to the Pioneer family. Coaches, these two are
@JucoRecruiting
top 50 FR in…
HS and AAU coaches as the season winds down , I put my recruiting hat on full time. DM me with any quality prospects you might have. Junior College provides opportunities to raise stock of still developing bigs and undersized scorers.
So proud of these two guys
@changhoth14
,
@jack_hoth
for their accomplishments so far and the ones to come. Two year players for Western that have displayed loyalty , determination and proving that you can make the big time wherever you are if you’re the right guy.
#Jucobuilt
With all the NCAA transfers available,
quality Juco transfers ,post grads and a surge of HS players that will be eligible for NCAA/ NAIA because of relaxed SAT requirement for this coming year, kids need to value any opportunity they have.
The NCAA 2 ranks and NAIA’s are getting better players at the same time losing their star players to higher levels. The NCAA 1s are Recruting the portal more every year creating a trickle down effect where every college level is getting players that would not have been available…
Welcome 6’0” combo guard Jayden Hall. Jayden is a transfer from Hutch CC where he saw action in 26 games. Attended Campus HS, KS where he was a top recruit. “ Jayden Has only played on winning programs and he is extremely quick with the ball” Coach Ro
Congratulations to
@changhoth14

To my 2 year players , it’s been my pleasure to watch you guys grow as people and attain your degree at Western Oklahoma State While there are many great things ahead for all of you , know there is an old Cuban in Altus that will miss you guys.
There is a trend I’ve noticed this year with D1s offering and signing top JUCO guys early. The mids and lows are getting smarter and so are the JUCO Sophs.

Will be a bittersweet game on Thursday vs the Jets as my Western team will face a Shamburg led Northern Enid squad in regular season for the last time. Greg has projected the very best aspects of our profession and has made Region 2 and Northern Enid a force to contend with.
Congratulations to Soph Darron Johnson on his selection as NJCAA Region 2 player of the week. This is Darron’s second player of the week selection. The 6’2” Soph Guard is presently averaging 28.3 ppg.
A special thanks to these two year players for the Pioneers ( Joseph Garringer,CJ Campbell, Kenny Ermat and Richard Lowe). Culture is everything and these guys are the guardrails of this program and lead by example. Will miss all of them after this year .
Western men hold on for the road victory vs Marshalltown 100-87. Dylan O’Hearn was on fire scoring 48 pts on 9/11 from three point line and 16/25 from the field. The Soph guard had 28 points at the half en route to his career high.
Welcome aboard 6’8” Dini Mohamed to the 23/24 Western Pioneers. Dini is a 22/23 Pioneer signee who was forced to redshirt due to injury. A 21/22 Jacksoville CC transfer (9.4 ppg), Dini is able to hit the three ball and drive with consistency. Played HS basketball at Apollo HS(MN)…
‼️Redshirt Opportunity‼️
Redshirt opportunity for mid year transfers, post grads and players who didn’t attend school in the fall. Opportunity to better yourself academically and develop your game.
Dm me for info!
Incredibly thankful for our guys and happy for the opportunity to play tomorrow. Western defeated a tough as nails Enid 99-97 on 51.4% (37-72) from the field and 38.5% (15-39) from the three point line. Western is 20-12 and will take on Seminole State tomorrow @ 2pm.
Welcome aboard Damien Sears. Damien is a 6’7” 230 (PF) D1 transfer from Jacksonville University. Played HS at Haughton HS in Louisiana. Definitely Pioneers got a little better today.
Great to have former Pioneer Ronald Norfleet (Detroit Mumford) visit campus this week. Ronald is a proud alumni of Western Oklahoma State college and we are equally proud of his accomplishments. A two year player for Western, Ronald signed with UCO after graduation.
Want to congratulate Seminole State and wish them well as they represent Region 2 in Hutch. I am extremely proud of our guys for how they played and represented Western Oklahoma State College this year. I wish all our departing players the very best.
Height is always at a premium in April and Western Oklahoma State has three front line players that will graduate in the Spring: 6’8”, 6’7” and 6’6”. Webster Simeus, Damien Sears and Obi Okafor.
HS/AAU Coaches in my network . Looking to fill out roster with 6’4”-6’6” combo forward . Must be character guy, hard worker and have ball skills. No transfers whatsoever. DM with info and attach clip.
Hard won victory over a well coached Eastern team last night. Joshua Sasser has big night followed by Jack Hoth. Richard Lowe tossed in 17 and 13. Jayden Hall 12 with three big 3’s.
Happy for Tony Pujol , a long time ago we were all fighting small school high school battles in Miami. Always good to see another Cuban American get a Head Coaching opportunity.
Greg Shamburg 26 years total in Region 2 and a little under 20 as a Head Coach at Enid. Going out on his terms, admired and appreciated by fans and players and on top of his game. Well done Greg...Well done.
Congratulations to
@DalgeDave
on signing with
@treeBurks
and
@YUPanthersMBB
. Dave will be the third Pioneer to play for York following in the footsteps of Michael Tolbert and Webster Simeus. Proud of Dave who played his HS ball at Boyd Anderson in Broward County . As a SFL guy,…
Western Sophomore combo guard Dave Dalge signs with York University. Dalge was an integral part of the Pioneer offense trailing only Oakland University signees Chang and Jack Hoth in conference offensive production. Dalge also led all guards in rebounding .
Western Oklahoma 6’2” Soph Guard , Darron Johnson finishes the season as # 3 scorer( 26 ppg )in the NJCAA and
#2
scorer in Region 2. Johnson shot 44% for the year and 39.5% from the 3 point line while dishing out 3.1 assists per game. “
Western Oklahoma State College signs Dylan O’Hearn from Charlotte Basketball Academy. The 6’4” Guard played his HS ball at Romulus High in Michigan. Big thanks to the Tigers for a new Pioneer.
I’d like to thank all our Sophomores today for their hard work and effort this year. I’m especially proud of the fact that two of our guys have attained their associates already and the others are on track to complete their degrees at the end of the spring term.
