At approximately 8:00 this morning RPPD was dispatched for a collision involving two children walking to school, at Riv Rd & Taylor. This resulted in two fatalities, PGPD is on scene and assuming the investigation.
In a historic move, the Riverdale Park Police Department has promoted two Latino leaders in the middle of Hispanic heritage month. Rosa Guixens, daughter of Cuban parents, was appointed as Police Chief, and German Garcia, a native of El Salvador, was promoted to Lieutenant.

Tonight RPPD responded for a carjacking in 5400 blk of 54th Ave at approx 2012 hrs. We found the victim in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound; he was transported to PGH where he succumbed to his injuries. PGPD will be handling the investigation.

Attempt to Identify: On April 17th, 2023 at approximately 2113 hours Riverdale Park Officers responded to 5707 Riverdale Rd (CVS), Riverdale Park Md 20737 for a citizen strong arm robbery.
Three suspects entered the CVS and attacked and robbed a customer waiting in line.
On 02/01/23 at approximately 0321 hours, Riverdale Park Officers responded to 6235 Baltimore Ave (Wells Fargo Bank), Riverdale Park, MD for a commercial ATM motion alarm. Footage reveals that the ATM had been vandalized by the 2 suspects using a yellow prying tool.

At 1:40 this morning RPPD officers responded to 5400 Powhatan Rd. for a person shot. When they arrived, they found a male suffering from a gunshot wound. He succumbed to his injuries. PGPD is handling the investigation, refer all questions to PGPD MRD.
On 11/9/2021 at approximately 9:47 pm, officers observed a vehicle in the area of Riverdale Rd and 58th Ave in Riverdale Park who was suspected of being involved in a shooting. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle. The suspect vehicle fled the scene, attempting to elude police.
On May 5, 2022 at approximately 2:40 pm, a trash truck overturned in the area of the 4400 block of East-West Hwy resulting in one fatality.
The area of East-West Hwy from Aldephi Rd/Queens Chapel Rd to Route 1 will be closed for an extended period of time.

Tonight RPPD responded to the 5800 blk of Riverdale Rd for a shooting. We found and adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

RPPD is working a stolen vehicle with a 2 yr old child in the backseat; the 2 yr old has been located unharmed. The vehicle is still outstanding, white Honda Civic, MD 2EJ4213.
Stop strips were utilized by an aiding jurisdiction, disabling the vehicle which came to a stop on East West Blvd at Taylor Rd. Two occupants exited the vehicle and began firing on officers. Both fled on foot.

At approximately 1:30 AM this morning, RPPD officers responded to the 5400 block of Riverdale Road for a reported shooting. An adult male was discovered with trauma to the upper body. The victim was transported to the hospital and was pronounced deceased.
Yesterday at approximately 11:00am, RPPD officers responded to the 5500 blk of Kenilworth Ave. for a shooting. Officers located two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds; both were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

One Riverdale Park police officer was struck during the shooting and transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been released.
