Some doubted I could keep 230 bulling heifers on this farm and to be honest I had my moments but it's come good! 40 acres of silage also ready for next week!

When I get my water system sorted I'm going to collect all the 1/2 inch brass valves and broken float arms and melt them down to make a sculpture so I can remember about all the time I've spent fucking about with them!!๐
Finished lamb marking yesterday. 1106 lambs out of a potential 1196 at scanning. So losses of 7.5%, the best I've achieved by a mile! 790 ewes to tup so 140% lambs reared.
Photo taken about 2 mins before fence went crack and 700 lambs mixed back with 450 ewes!๐ All sorted again and 700 ewes in dry ready for shearing tomorrow.
Really pleased & exited to be nominated & shortlisted for New Entrant Award at

Thanks to everyone thatโs helped me along the way!

Clear TB test and rescanned few heifers that had still been running with bull today, only 10 barren out of 378 (including 4 free martins). Now to get stock away before winter arrives properly!
Fat lamb selling all done for this year!
Interesting to look back at my av lamb price!

Lot of planning, juggling and change in 2023 as we've converted our hill sheep farm to a spring calving dairy unit, everything going to plan with first calves due mid March 2024!
Ewes had their pre lambing bikini wax and vaccination. Very pleased with lameness this year with only 5 lame out of over 700 ewes and 0 ewe lambs out of 200!
Lamb marking finished and final numbers in. 12% losses from scanning which is similar if not lower than usual, but all lambed outdoors and with only 1 tonne of feed for 700+ ewes
Good day here with clear TB test on 330 R2 cattle, and good final scan with only 3 barrens out of my 230 possible breeding heifers after 13 weeks with bull (we won't mention the 5 non-breeders!)

Investment in infrastructure still paying off, keeping quality feed in front of these 78 bulling dairy heifers and bulls during the drought
