Every day, over the last 12 years, I put my heart and soul into the work of improving the lives of every Rhode Islander. I’m so proud of all we accomplished.
Thank you, for the honor and the privilege, Rhode Island.
My last letter as a Member of Congress was sent to
@POTUS
tonight, urging him to award the Medal of Honor posthumously to Rhode Islander First Sergeant Peter Andrew McKenna.
He is a true American hero who embodied the very best of our country and our shared American values.
This will be my last week serving in the U.S. House of Representatives. It has been the honor of my life to represent RI's First District in Congress. Thank you to everyone who placed their faith & trust in me over the last 12 years.
Some final thoughts⤵️
Today, I was honored to participate in the State of Rhode Island’s Annual Memorial Day Ceremony, where we honored our friends and neighbors who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.
Glad to join Lincoln's memorial parade in honor of those who have sacrificed so much for our country – those who gave their lives and the families they left behind.
Thank you to the Barrington United Veterans Council and
@RI_Barrington
for organizing today's memorial service and parade in tribute to all those who made the ultimate sacrifice in protecting our freedom.
Congratulations to the
@BrownUniversity
Class of 2023!
As you close this chapter of your life, take a moment to reflect on this incredible accomplishment. Wishing you happiness and success in this next chapter!
Great time tonight with members of the Gaspee Days Committee! Honored to serve with
@JimLangevin
as this year’s Grand Marshals.
Everyone mark your calendars for the
@GaspeeDay
Parade on June 10th!
As we remember the 21 lives taken one year ago, I’m calling on my colleagues to take real action to
#EndGunViolence
.
We need to do all we can so that no other community has to endure the loss that Uvalde is suffering through.
#BanAssaultWeapons
One year ago, a gunman with an AR-15 style rifle shot and killed 19 fourth graders and two teachers, and wounded 17 others at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. It was the third-deadliest school shooting in modern American history.
Tonight, I addressed the House of Representatives for the final time as a Member of Congress.
As a lifelong Rhode Islander, it is only fitting that my final message is one of HOPE -- hope for our democracy and our Congress.
Watch here:
Today, the EU took a key step in holding Meta accountable because no one is above the law.
Failing to hold Meta accountable for their egregious behavior would undermine the GDPR & its effectiveness.
Meta needs to reform their systems to ensure they can protect users’ privacy.
Meta has been hit with a record €1.2 billion fine for violating the EU’s privacy rulebook when it shuttled troves of personal data of European Facebook users to the US.
Harvey Milk dedicated his life to ensuring that LGBTQ+ people are treated with both dignity and respect- a cause he would die for.
We can all learn from Milk's legacy, and use it to inspire us to fight discrimination wherever it arises.
#HarveyMilkDay
This
#IDAHOBIT
marks 4 years since the House first passed the
#EqualityAct
. Since then, anti-LGBTQI+ laws have been on the rise here at home and around the world.
We must do more to ensure that LGBTQI+ people have the same protections and fundamental rights as everybody else.
[1/3]Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, & Transphobia.
As anti-equality governments continue to persecute LGBTQI+ people around the world, we must speak out against these attacks & stand in solidarity with the global LGBTQI+ community. 🏳️🌈
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, yet many are still recovering from the impacts of the pandemic.
The new technical assistance program & Small Business HUB will help Rhode Island entrepreneurs get the resources they need to thrive and grow our local economy.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and this new Technical Assistance Program will help even more Rhode Island entrepreneurs thrive,”
@davidcicilline

Glad to return to the first in-person
@RIKidsCount

Thank you for your organization's dedication to supporting the health, education, economic well-being, and development of RI's next generation!
