Hurry up and read 𝕊𝕚𝕘𝕚𝕝𝕤 𝕠𝕗 𝕄𝕒𝕝𝕚𝕔𝕖 before its sequel comes out on July 1st!
It's an urban science fantasy thriller full of:

Dragons are awesome, but get too much PR. What are some other mythical creatures that you love? The more obscure, the better.
I'm personally fond of island turtles.

What I learned from the other day's question is that cussing is fine in writing. People who will DNF for the word 'fuck' are not my target audience for my adult audience dark fantasy books anyway.
My 16 fucks out of my 100,000 word novel are here to stay.
I can never answer those "what is your favorite" or "what is the best" questions. Even if I actually do have a thing at the top of a list, I feel like I'm expected to elaborate, or that I'm judging wrong. I feel slightly dishonest, oddly.
Anyone else, or is it easy for you?
I hit a plot hole while editing. One of those, "But why didn't these other people do this sooner?" kind of plot holes.
It's subtle in the book, but a discerning reader will find it, so I'm trying to figure out a good fix.
How good are your characters at lying to people?
Thalia was never the dishonest sort, so the few times she tries are not convincing. She doesn't like to do much more than bluff.

I know this sounds silly, but I don't care. I've never dated anyone who was ripped, but most men I've been with have been silly nerds. The figures run the gamut. Cozy hugs and playing games with me is better than figures.
I do like laying on a soft chest, though.
What's the most gruesome, violent thing you've read and enjoyed?
I'm writing something that crosses my line. For my own sake, I'm 'padding' around it, but I'm curious how other readers feel about horrible things. In short, it's a war crime against civilians that I'm writing.
My sister wants me to make a Tiktok to sell my book, especially with the sequel coming out soon. I know nothing about the platform. Twitter already distracts me.
Is this a good idea? Advice?

I'm incredibly proud of, but won't for fear of spoiling plot for the few people who may read it in the future.
I've worked so hard on this. I'm hoping it matters.

Do you only have humans, or what people live in your universes?
I have a fantasy universe without traditional races. I love elves and dwarves, but I have dryads, beasts, and humans instead. I have a satyr character planned for book 3.

Do any of your characters have a twitch or common mannerism?
For Thalia, it's flapping her hands when she's stressed or walking with her hands in her pockets if she doesn't know what to do with them.

"... fans of fantasy and mystery alike."
"... those craving a seamless blend of the extraordinary and the perilous."
Would your characters offer money/food to the homeless on the street, look the other way, or report them? Something else?
Would it change depending on their own situation?

, how have you subverted a trope?
𝕊𝕚𝕘𝕚𝕝𝕤 𝕠𝕗 𝔹𝕝𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥 has been an accidental exercise in subverting the 'chosen one' trope for 3 separate characters, in a book all about free will.

How well do your main characters take care of themselves?
For example, Thalia works out all of the time and eats healthy, but she sacrifices sleep and gets into fights to protect her family.

What makes something a trope? Is it just something that's "overdone"? And if it's overdone, how many things do you have to file away from a genre before you no longer have tropes without losing the genre?

Has one of your characters tried to be cool or impressive, only for it to go horribly wrong?
Thalia forgot her weapon was enchanted while trying to disarm someone.

Do your characters look people in the eyes during conversations?
Thalia can, but is easily distracted. She's listening, but it doesn't always look like it.

What's some fun levity in your stories? It can be anything from a HEA to just characters goofing off.
My name is Rebecca Reyes, and my WIP is 𝕊𝕚𝕘𝕚𝕝𝕤 𝕠𝕗 𝔹𝕝𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥, the sequel to Sigils of Malice!
Loyalties were tested in my last thriller, but now faith is in question as the empire's namesake goddess blights her own people.

Day 8
More like not done. Thalia was silent for most of her life about her uncle's criminal activities and his legal slavery. It was out of fear, but it's a guilt that eats at her now.

I'll be honest, I'm staying up to write because I took one look at my bed and thought, "I'm just gonna have to get up in the morning."
Epic climaxes against gods won't write themselves.
