This ends my 31st year behind the mic calling
@Yankees
games. I’ve been so fortunate to have been able to broadcast so many great moments over the last three-plus decades. It has been one of the joys of my life to live out a childhood dream. Thanks for watching/listening.
My last look out at the field as I left the booth tonight. Please know I never lose sight of the fact that I’m just a kid from the Bronx living out a childhood dream. This was my 30th (!) year behind the mic and reality has far exceeded the dream. Thanks for watching.
This game today will finish my 27th year broadcasting New York Yankees game. Every single day has been a dream come true for a kid from the Bronx. Not too many people are luckier in their professional lives. I thank you for being part of the ride.
As I sit here
@yankeestadium
, I find it hard to believe I just finished my 29th(!) year broadcasting the
@Yankees
games. I want each and every one of you to know that I realize I am still the 10-year kid from the Bronx living his dream. Thanks for watching. Stay safe.
I’ve been covering baseball for 36 years and the season
@TheJudge44
is having is one of the best I’ve ever seen. Take hm off the
@yankees
and they’d have trouble making playoffs. Take Ohtani off
@Angels
and they still would be on the outside looking in. Most valuable?
As another
@Yankees
season is in the books I want to thank all of you for following along on
@YESNetwork
. It has been 28 years behind the microphone for me and it’s been an honor and privilege for a kid from the Bronx to live his childhood dream with you. See ya in 2020.
Indulge me as I share this pic from yesterday. This was the reaction of my kids after I said "see ya" following the Hicks home run. This will still make me smile 20 years from now.
I would like to thank all of those sending their condolences on the passing of my uncle, Danny Aiello. He was a terrific man, self made, coming from nothing to be an Academy Award nominated actor. He loved his family dearly, adored his wife of 64 years, my Aunt Sandy.
Just wanted to tell everyone what is going on. I went to see a specialist in Boston today and he recommended I have surgery to correct an issue with my vocal cord. I will have the surgery next week and will be out for about a month, starting with today’s game and radio show.
Would like to thank all who watched
@yankees
baseball on
@YESNetwork
this year. As I finish my 28th year broadcasting
@Yankees
games I never have forgotten how lucky I am to be living out a childhood dream. Thanks for watching everyone. Enjoy the postseason.
I saw his first pitch and his last pitch and most of the pitches in between and he was the greatest relief pitcher I’ve seen. In fact, he might have been the best pitcher I ever saw. Today, Mariano Rivera takes his place as part of forever in Cooperstown. Congrats, Mo.
Today is the last day I get to work with this wonderful person. What a playing career and what a broadcasting career. His talent and overall goodness will be missed in the
@YESNetwork
booth, by fans and colleagues alike.
@29alltime
You will not find a better person in sports than
@AaronBoone
so whether you’re a
@yankees
fan or not, send all good thoughts toward Florida today as Boone goes in to have a pace maker installed. Thinking good things.
I think it’s tiring when losses are blamed on umpires calls because there is so much that goes on before and usually after but the strike 3 call on Odor was inexcusable and disgraceful. To make that call on national TV in the bottom of the ninth is ineptitude at its finest.
Amazing what a big moment in sports can do. With one swing,
@TheJudge44
made so many people happy (well, at least
@yankees
fans). Incredible the way a good shock to the senses moves people no matter how good or bad their day was. Thanks for those that enjoyed it on
@YESNetwork
.
Great decision by
@espn
bringing
@dcone36
into the Sunday Night booth. The country will learn what
@yankees
fans have known for years: he is the best analyst of any sport. Period. Old school. New school. Funny. Irreverent. The whole package. And he’s also still with
@YESNetwork
!
Consider this: Judge misses a third of the year, Didi essentially misses two months (one injury, one couldn't hit). Montgomery out for year. Chapman DL, zero production out of Bird, Gray Ineffective, under .200 by Sanchez, projected 3B doesn't play. = 100 wins. Remarkable.
I am so very sad that my friend
@29alltime
announced today that he is retiring after tomorrow’s game. He is simply a wonderful man. Kind, giving, and the ultimate gentleman. My eyes are watery as I write this. I wish him nothing but love but I will miss working with him so much.
Mel Stottlemyre was class personified. What a battle he waged with multiple myeloma. 20 years ago he was given about 5 years. He never stopped fighting. RIP.
That’s it for my 32nd year in the Yankee booth. Each season, each game, each inning has been the honor of a lifetime for this kid from the Bronx to bring to you. From all of us at the
@YESNetwork
, we thank you for watching.
Come on! Make it make sense. MLB has to get involved. This is an awful look and a terrible thing to do to a terrific broadcaster. New York fans of both teams are so lucky. Neither ownership group ever censors the
@Mets
or
@Yankees
booth. The truth should never be penalized.
First game I’m not broadcasting all season so I thought it would be cool to experience a game with my family. Hope you’re all enjoying this Saturday night.
Tried to make it home from Stadium because my house is flooding and the kids are scared. Couldn’t find a route that was not flooded. I eventually found a safe haven at my alma mater and will wait it out at Fordham. Don’t try to drive. Please.
Sincere love and big time props go out to my friend John Sterling, who will finally take a well deserved weekend off to be ready for the second half of the season. 30-plus years without missing a game because of illness is amazing. Get some rest, my friend.
I did a “tryout” game with
@CameronMaybin
about a month ago and he was incredible. First time he had a headset on and he was a natural. Get ready
@Yankees
fans because he is going to be a TV star. Yes, he’s that good.
@YESNetwork
.
I’m sitting here watching my son in a 6 and 7 year old baseball league and he just started a triple play at first base and I’ve got to admit that I’m kinda geeked to a somewhat out of proportion level.
Want to thank
@espn
for the opportunity to do the Sunday Night baseball megacast with
@arod
. Will be different and hopefully irreverent and fun. Most Importantly have to thank the
@Yankees
and my bosses at
@YESNetwork
for allowing it to happen. Let’s do it!
Well, after avoiding Covid for two years, all the while being extra careful, I have tested positive. Feel like I have a bad cold now and hoping this is as bad as it gets. Wanted to post this so you know why I am not on
@TMKSESPN
@TMKSonYES
today. Stay safe everyone.
When you watch the football we’ve seen this weekend you clearly realize the pathetic product that the two New York teams have put on the field for longest time.
Congrats to Buck Showalter and to the
@Mets
. The years I did the
@Yankees
manager’s report with Buck on the radio were a master’s class in baseball. He is brilliant, always prepared and will never be out worked. The Mets will never lose a game because they got out managed.
My family and I would like to thank the entire
@Mets
organization for 2022. It was an amazing year filled with friendships we will cherish for the rest of our lives. We fell short of what we wanted, but I am beyond proud of what we accomplished. Wish y’all nothing but the best!!
For those that find the view from the booth on a call interesting, here is the final play from the
@yankees
regular season. Thanks to
@deWysphoto
for the video.
I am humbled and sometimes moved to tears about how kind everyone has been. It has meant a lot during a difficult time when you start to question what’s ahead. Thank you all so much and I wish to be back shortly. (2 of 2)
Please remember this: the Yankees treated a player, ARod, who was suspended for a year and threatened to sue them and the sport 1000x better than the Giants today treated an organizational icon in Eli Manning. Frankly, it is mind boggling. Mara and Tisch should be ashamed.
Thank you all so much for listening and watching throughout the years and please know it’s tearing me up to have to step away in the middle of a season but it’s the only way I can get better and avoid further problems.
I guess I will say he pitched great. No excuse needed. A stud outing and he was betrayed by his defense, too, costing him about 15 extra pitches. How bout you, Don?
Sanchez jogging out of the box is unacceptable. If you arę healthy enough to płay, then you have to bust it. When you let it go on for so long, it will eventually bite you. It just did.
Just wanted to thank all the viewers of
@Yankees
baseball on
@PIX11
for hanging in there through my vocal issues tonight. I’m hoping I didn’t ruin the experience for anyone and I hope to be back close to normal for Sunday’s game on
@YESNetwork
. Have a wonderful night.
Did you see the smile on the face of Velasquez as he saw the ball make the seats? Just awesome. That smile was about dreams coming true. And my eyes are watering because of allergies.
#bronxtale
Honestly, I’m a bit dubious on this strategy. You just wasted García, who can pitch a full, effective game, for one inning just so you control the lineup composition. Could work out, but it’s a bit too cute to use a top flight starter as a full fledged opener.
Can I please make one thing clear about the rainout last night? The
@Yankees
and the
@CleGuardians
had NOTHING to do with the decision. All playoff games are in the hands of
@MLB
. There is no secret cabal where teams decide to postpone a post season game for their advantage.
We have lost the greatest broadcaster who ever lived as Vin Scully passed away Tuesday evening. Every game was a masters class as he turned an inning into poetry. And as great as he was, he was just as nice. Class, elegance and grace were all part of his humble but regal being.
If Bregman can carry his bat to first base then Soto has every right, and more, to carry his to first base. We are in a different world and the unwritten rules have been erased, so Soto answered Bregman’s showboating the best way possible.
.
@Mets
broadcaster, Gary Cohen, is a stud. Right now on
@SNYtv
he took Jason Vargas to task for his altercation in Chicago and for not apologizing to Tim Healey. Cohen showing no fear of any ramifications from Vargas or team. Saying what’s right. Awesome.
Just got an e mail from the family of Harry from Englewood Cliffs informing us that Harry passed two days before Christmas, at age 99. Listeners to
@TMKSESPN
know Harry was a cherished part of our family and he will be terribly missed. Condolences to his family. RIP my friend.
NYC should be ashamed of itself. 11:10 pm and the west side highway is still bumper to bumper and has not been plowed. Whole city shut down by a small snowstorm. Like they weren’t expecting it or never saw snow.
So proud of my little guy on his first day of kindergarten. Charlie was a champ. Not a tear. Turned around as his class was walking into school and threw his Mom a kiss.
