There are many things offensive in this world, and often things require nuance and context, but... I genuinely cannot fathom why anyone is offended by a young girl saying she wants us all to stop destroying the fucking planet.

@kim9973 No she’s not. There is no George Soros conspiracy. I know this because I keep asking for money and not getting any. Please stop sending me this nonsense.

@RalfLittle because taking the moral high ground makes you look cool they think being outraged at things and comments online is easier than being outraged at climate change and extinction os species

@RalfLittle They might be offended because saving the planet means disrupting the Status Quo they currently benefit from financially/socially.

@RalfLittle I think it threatens lots of very brittle, fragile white middle aged men. Particularly as she doesn't act coy or pretty for them.

@RalfLittle @PoppyHartley There's a lot of these young people these days, they're going around having opinions on lots of stuff without first having had the decency to get older Fortunately, if we disagree, we can just attack their youth & write off their opinions as naivete

@RalfLittle I’m not in the slightest bit offended by her; I just happen to not agree with her views. It seems that because she’s 16, has Aspergers, is charismatic and vocal that we aren’t allowed to challenge what she says.

@RalfLittle It’s totally bizarre. At the same time David Attenborough, with much the same message is celebrated. Do you have to be a white haired white man to be trusted?

@RalfLittle They are genuinely scared of the youth voice and its potential as a movement for change. The platitudes about empowering young people are increasingly being shown as just that. We should be embracing their thoughts, views and ideas and not as some are belittle and discredit.

@RalfLittle Mostly because they think the people saying we should stop destroying the fucking planet are actually conspiring to advance their own political and economical aims by using lies and fake science as a Trojan horse.

@RalfLittle @WayneDavid81 Because admitting she's right means admitting that our whole system is wrong and that we've all been lied to and that everyone who's been defending it has been wrong the whole time. People can't deal with that and will attack the messenger

@RalfLittle I just can’t imagine having this kind of response to a child actually flipping doing something to challenge our rubbish attitude to climate change. Baffling!

@RalfLittle To be fair other nations are far worse than us. We are just a small speck on this planet and until you get the agreement of the likes of India China and the US no matter how much we do it will have little impact.
