For the "you hate on ladders but offer no solutions" crew... Station from today's lineman agility circuit/combative work. O must shutdown space, D must create separation with footwork and misdirection. Vision-decision-action, competition, intensity, biomechanical relevance ✔️

Cheap and dirty way to condition for any sport, a thread: 1. Look at the high intensity skills/interactions that is most fatiguing, frequent or consequential in the sport. This is the stuff that is making you tired, not the low intensity stuff in between

Mental weakness is characterized by the inability to behave under competition conditions as you do in training. But coaches melt down and modify their behavior on game day long before athletes ever do... Who really needs to be mentally tougher?

Got my hair cut today by a guy who served 18 years for shooting someone. He learned barbering in prison and worked his way up to a 450 bench and 600 squat by lifting 3hrs a day. He told me the weights kept him sane when he lost his mother. My problems aren't so tough 🤷‍♂️

"I used to sleep in my car" is the "I used to walk 5 miles to school" for coaches. It just means you have shitty colleagues who'd let you do that. Stop romanticizing this BS.

Ok here is the long post: Pretty much 3 years ago to the day I left full time coaching to focus fully on business and being around for my son. Here's the link to when I made that announcement: This past week, I was delighted to close the sale of

If countries were college football teams: Japan- Nebraska. Storied history, dropped the F off. Saudi- USC. Using disgusting quantities of money to be relevant. USA- UT. Americas team! England- Yale. OGs, nobody gives a fuck now. Iraq- Miami. Fuckin wild in the early 2000s 😂

It's corny, but love is the strongest emotion of all. Hype, fake tough guy 💩 and motivational speeches are the energy drinks of behaviour. A short boost that should not be relied upon in any way. The highest levels of commitment are displayed by those who LOVE the group.

All these track and field athletes coming back after months of no or minimal weights, running PRs, setting record jumps. Could it be that this whole time, maximal strength training was just supplementary for non-novice training age speed and power athletes?!

Freshmen conversations: FR: "Should we do just the lift or the tempo as well?" Me: "What is on the sheet?" FR: "Tempo as well" Me: "Why do you think it is on the sheet?" FR: "....because we should do it?"

99.9% of decelerations in sport never result in a "stick" or dead stop. The other 0.01% is because somebody hit you so hard you had no choice. Yet we emphasise it to death in training 🤔 Discuss.

Probably not a popular opinion, but in my experience a team full of highly talented and driven individuals who might dislike one another but can work together beats a team of nice guys along for the ride.

Forget the 40-yard dash and bench press... this is what everyone wanted to see at Nebraska's Pro Day - Cam Jurgens doing frog jumps!!!

I have it on good authority they spent in the 5 figures on just the lights for this. That's a solid year of force plate technology. Criminally dumb allocation of resources.

Nordic holds for time just before the point you can't hold your weight > regular Nordic curls. More TUT, better posture. Don't @ me.

Using a Murph crossfit workout on your first week back with young athletes is perhaps the most misplaced, negligent enthusiasm I've ever seen. 2 hours of callisthenics with kids who've done nothing for 3 months to develop a kind of mental toughness that never existed anyway.

@zoeharcombe This guy should be dead then. If you drop 10% O2 just sitting there, running an elite 10km as an asthmatic doesn't sound too healthy.
