Besides the Air Force, snipers are among the most feared among Russian troops deployed in Syria. Nasyrov Ildarovich was one of them. He was even decorated for this (Syrian medal). He was killed in Ukraine days ago.

Abdulbek Movladievich was a Russian Ministry of Defense's operative. From Chechnya he was deployed no less than 7 times in Syria (record currently documented). He was killed in Ukraine.

Russian Lt Colonel Bichikaev, deputy Regiment commander, is described as having an extensive combat experience in Syria, where he was repeteadly deployed. Multi-awarded, he was killed by Ukrainian forces earlier this month on Kharkiv front.

K. Khvastunov was a senior sniper. Deployed in Syria he admitted his company lost 50% of its 60 men in one month in the desert. After losses in Ukraine, his unit came back to Russia for reorg. He wanted to return "bcz not many like me are left" & was slain

N. Oshorov served in the Russian Special Forces before being Guard Ensign. Involved in many wars from Chechnya to Caucasus & Syria (repeated deployments). Praised for his experience he got no less than 20 medals but died in early days of Ukraine's invasion

The last "hot spot" he was deployed (Ukraine) didn't bring him luck. He previously fought in Syria to support Assad. He served in motorized rifle troops.

Russian Major Head of Operational Dep. of an Artillery Brigade (Smerch MLRS) was slain in Ukraine. BM-30s were less used in Syria than other MLRS by pro-Assad forces but caused a massacre on 4th April 2019 vs market street in Kafranbel (11 civs killed incl. children) #NeverForget

Lt Colonel Usmanov was the commander of an anti-aircraft missile division. He was deployed in Syria & tasked to protect Russian bases (esp. from Rebel drones threat). He hunted TB2 drones & was killed in Ukraine.

Major N. Bugai was the pilot of an attack chopper Mi-35. He bombed Syrians in support of Assad and was awarded multiple times by Russian MoD, especially for his involvement in Syria. He was killed in Ukraine.

Recently there's an uptick of Russian mercenaries reported killed in Ukraine. Ilya Mazaev (nickname) led there an air defense platoon. Author of a book, he fought in Syria & Libya with Wagner PMC👇

Another Russian mercenay who fought in Syria with Wagner PMC was killed in Ukraine.

Russian Captain Kusov was pilot of a Ka-52 attack helicopter & had extensive military experience in bombing regions like Chechnya & Syria. His chopper was shot down by Ukrainian Army this Spring but it took months to recover his body. He was buried today.

A successful raid launched 2 days ago by Ukrainian Mil. Intelligence killed a number of Russian troops in Kharkiv. They captured a commander who served in Special Forces for combat submarines (Russian Northern Fleet). He was deployed in Syria in 2019.

Combat veteran & expert Vitaly Beriev was killed few days ago in Ukraine. It's the only documented case of a Russian soldier who earned no less than 4 medals dedicated to his involvement in Syria. Includes very rare "Syrian-Russian military Commonwealth" award. Also went in Libya

First documented case of a Spetsnaz & Wagner mercenary killed in Ukraine & who was personnally awarded by Assad. Battalion cmdr, S. Kononov fought on many fronts in Syria: Latakia Mounts, Daraa, Palmyra & capture of besieged E. Aleppo. 3 times in Libya.

Below the very first documented death to date in Ukraine of a Russian veteran of Syrian war. Senior Sergeant & squad commander, he served in the 11th Airborne Division & died during first hours of Russian invasion (24th February).

Oleg Farniev was a Russian pilot (North Ossetia) of a Mi-28 attack chopper deployed 2 times in Syria (2016 & 2018). This Spring his helicopter was shot down at low altitude in Ukraine. He survived the crash, but fired at Ukrainian troops who killed him. H/t @KilledInUkraine .

Two Russian Officers killed in Ukraine in July were part of a Pantsir crew (Air Defense). Their vehicle was located (at night) shortly after engaging targets & destroyed with a guided rocket while seeking cover. Both previously served in Syria (& awarded).

A prominent FSB Officer, veteran of Syrian war, was killed few days ago in Ukraine. Lt Colonel G. Alexandrovich was the Head of a Branch of Special Operations Directorate (Special Purpose Center of the FSB).

Multi-awarded Wagner mercenary & combat veteran was killed in Ukraine. He previously fought in Chechnya, Syria & Central African Republic & also served in Rosgvardia troops.

Russian Paratrooper (31st Separate Guards Airborne Assault Brigade) B. Glukhotka had extensive experience in foreign operations (Chechnya, Abkhazia, Syria & Kazakhstan). He died during his 5th deployment in Ukraine. Multi-awarded, last time posthumously.

A Russian veteran, reconnaissance specialist, was killed last month in Ukraine. He's among rare soldiers awarded with the MoD medal for the 5th anniversary of military intervention in Syria, granted since 2020. It shows a Kalibr cruise missile launch.

A. Ivanovitch was an experienced Russian paratrooper who fought in Chechnya, Georgia, Syria & took Crimea. He survived destruction of his convoy in Bucha (Feb. 29), went to the South of Ukraine where he died few days ago in (HIMARS) strike on ammo depot.

Russian soldier A. Polezhaev, who also worked for Interior Ministry, was awarded no less than 15 times & fought in Chechnya & Syria. Wounded twice, he got 3 medals for Syria, incl. for capture of Palmyra in 2016. Killed in Ukraine, he was buried yesterday.

A. Nagin, highly experienced Wagner commander, was seriously wounded in May in Ukraine, but came back after 2 months of recovery & was killed there 4 days ago. Ex-FSB Special Forces, he fought in Chechnya, Georgia, Crimea, Libya & Syria (as recon. sniper).
