At the time this concept art was done... Resistance was much slower paced, atmospheric, more puzzle teamwork, and each level had more unique events to overcome (versus 3 global). Without getting into details, playtesting feedback in part drastically altered a lot of early design.

Was organizing my old Resident Evil Resistance dev notes and on Daniel's first draft character doc on the core personality trait section it just says "He talk mad shit" in all caps
Oh wow this screen brings back memories. Originally Resistance was much much slower paced, had minimal combat, more intensive resource management, and focused on Mastermind created atmospheric horror. However....during every single external playtest it just became a speedrun.
If you guys check out the artbook that came with the collector's edition of Resident Evil 3 / Resistance, the Res section has a bunch of scribbles by Daniel - what a nice touch Capcom!

Interesting fact about Silent Hill 2 on the PS2 is that the greatest hits version had extra content the original didn't in the form of the Maria Scenario "Born From a Wish". The Xbox version, Restless Dreams & HD Collection also had it. I'm hoping we also get this in the Remake!

Resident Evil Resistance was originally much slower paced and allowed the Mastermind to do things such as spawn sounds and decoy zombies to scare survivors. But as we did more and more play and focus tests we found that players would just ignore everything atmospheric.

The dumbest information you will learn today is that Capcom's RE Engine does not stand for Resident Evil Engine. It stands for Reach for the Moon Engine.
Which is why the logo is the way it is.
Timeframe wise, Resistance was set around the destruction of RC as a lot of players have noticed from the creatures / MM used. A few props were from RE2R, but mostly everything was original, using the US midwest town of Houghton, MI as a style reference. We took a LOT of pics...
