Everybody must learn to be a role player. I was told by a scout. 'We don't need Hardens. We will get 1-2 great scorers, but what we need are guys that will defend all game, bust their ass in practice, and keep their grades up. That is what we need.'

The one thing I keep trying to impart on young athletes is...Surround yourself with greatness and you will be forced to adapt. Stop trying to find a school or AAU team where you will be a star. If you don't conquer those challenges now you will never conquer them later.

Ryley McClaran was huge in his Tennessee Tigers 90-76 win over Pro One 2020 in the 17U bracket at the #BamaJam . The lefty had a smooth 28 points scoring in a variety of ways and iced the game away at the free throw line. Has NAIA and D2 interest at this point.

2018 #Unsigned PG @LevertSmith10 (Oak Ridge) is averaging 50.0% from the floor! I can't remember seeing that from a PG. 78/156 through the first 14 games. We have him as the 6th best unsigned PG in the state.

I decided I am going to break a few myths. 1) Winning an AAU event doesn't make you more or less likely to be evaluated. Most coaches already have their "games to watch" scheduled BEFORE you won those games.

Everybody has their own basketball and life choice to make, but I really admire that Brandon Miller stayed loyal to his friends and teammates throughout and stuck with Cane Ridge. Believe me, he had 20+ invites to transfer elsewhere. All of the top 5 guys in our rankings do.

@BenStinar @CoachDHardin Nerlens wasn't the best. Brandon Jennings never played defense. Giles tore his ACL before and after that ranking, which fits your thesis. I still stand by Avery Bradley, Simmons, AD. Okafor is a victim of the era. He would have been special in 1995, IMO.

If you are 6'6"+, then work hard and be patient. It takes taller guys a lot longer to finish growing into their body. Don't be frustrated if the guards are more skilled and nimble at the early stages. Keep working.

Time for some silly numbers. Grace Christian-Franklin G @Mason30McKnatt already made 114 three-pointers this season, tying his best season ever (16-17) with 114 made. In his career, Mason has made 392 three-pointers!!!! He shoots 3's at 41%. And he makes FT's at 90%.

I want to complain for a second. There are 341 teams in Tennessee. Our website (PrepHoopsTN) is two people = @AndrewForce8 and @CourtneyHoops90 . We can't see everyone every game. We can't write about every good player every game. It is logistically impossible.

3 top 20 players! 2 of them State Champions. And Kley had a great shot im 2020 to win a AAA Title in Jacobi Wood's senior year if not for CoVid. Incredible class.
