FOSSE FOREST BALLET
Teaching at a Easter school this week & we have a child we were warned would not speak, interact with students or participate. Yesterday they did a fashion catwalk, danced a solo & read their poem to the class. THIS IS WHY THE ARTS IS IMPORTANT FOR CHILDREN! WE ARE VIABLE!
People leaving London & moving home and getting a job that isnt industry related is NOT GIVING UP!! It’s a moment to pause. It is surviving a pandemic so they can return once we are back up and running without swimming in debt!
#MusicalsTheGreatestShow
is trending number 1 on Twitter......now tell me there ain't a demand or necessity for live theatre to return ASAP!! Not only the escapism we need from reality but over 100 billion £ given back to the economy annually!!
Due to train strikes on Wednesday I have 2 free tickets to the MATILDA film premiere with red carpet access. Luckily you aren't sat next to me but with everything going on in the world right now a bit of positivity can go a long way! I'll pick the winner tomorrow, just ❤️to enter
On a serious note should we all rally around the theatres & open their auditoriums & bars and choose to drink there to help them survive? No live shows but theatres can open.......
Don’t you dare start saying the
#BlackLivesMatter
protests will be the reason we have a 2nd wave of the corona virus!! I would like to point out you were happy for a crowded VE Day street celebration, packed bank holidays on beaches & parks! The protests are changing HISTORY!!
SIX is coming back, Jamie is coming back, Mary Poppins cast recording is being released, Beauty & The Beast announcement......oh my god my timeline looks gorgeous today!!!
If you get a job.....SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS!!! Tweet it,
Facebook it, Instagram it, Snapchat it, tell the neighbours dog, tell your local Tesco express staff!! You did not get your ass out of bed for 3 years to do a 9am ballet barre for nothing!!
If you aren’t a graduate of 2020 and been out a few years now, I have some news for you! YOU are just as important, valued & wanted in this industry. YOU WILL be back in the audition room when we can. You have NOT been forgotten about. Talent will always shine through, so shine!
I don't care if your production is west-end, UK or international tour, cruise ship, fringe or if it's a year long contract or it's for a few days. If you're happy, kind & living your best life then you don't need to prove to ANYONE your worth in our industry!! You're smashing it!
Is there not a way we can open west-end theatres doing backstage tours? Selfie onstage, visit dressing rooms, wardrobe village with small allocated timed groups, all wearing masks. Guided around the theatre by a member of the cast from the show that is currently in that theatre?
I’m not posting this because I want attention, I’m posting this because anxiety attacks are real & scary and it’s important to ask for help when you need it.....
When theatre reviewers write offensive words which personally attack actors on their looks, we as an industry must STOP inviting them to press nights. We have a responsibility to protect our actors & creative teams mental health & well being and not prioritising ticket sales.
I understand why they showed American musicals such as HAMILTON at the Jubilee tonight, but why not show other great Broadway shows for Her Majesty like......Diana The Musical!
Maybe it's time the pre show announcement is a bit more blunt to the audience "DON'T SING ALONG TO THIS PERFORMANCE AT ANY POINT, LEAVE THE TALENTED PROFESSIONALS TO IT, DON'T RECORD IT, DON'T GET VIOLENT, DON'T BE A TWAT TO FRONT OF HOUSE STAFF.....Thank you and enjoy the show"
You had to cope without a drink in soho for 3 months not 3 years. You clapped the NHS, you’re seeing the theatre community collapsing around you, you are told distancing is important and yet you still go out on a Saturday night stuck in a crowded street for the sake of a WKD Blue
If you had a dream job as a kid, worked hard to get to college, graduate & make your dream a profession then your government abandoned you in a pandemic I wouldn’t blame you for wanting answers!! So please stop saying the arts should move on til we can reopen! This is our dream!
My friend has asked me to tweet her story, she got Covid-19 16 weeks ago, before lockdown was a leading lady in some very well known shows, she hasn’t died but her singing chords are destroyed from this virus & been told she may never sing again. WEAR A MASK PEOPLE!
Hear me out! Open theatre bars & auditoriums at 6pm on Saturday night, 7:30pm we play the shows soundtrack. Throughout the night the cast & FOH team can make/serve drinks. Have pics with the cast, selfie onstage, buy merch, tip cast/FOH. Move from show to show. All done safely.
Hi
@BorisJohnson
I know you're talking at 5pm, just so you know we cannot go into another form of lockdown or tier system that jeopardises theatres reopening. Sutton Foster has been announced coming to London & it's kinda a big deal. Hope you're good babes x
I wish we could change the thought process that “West-end” is the top of anyone’s career!! West-end, tours, cruises, fringe, regional productions. Work is work, money is money, a credit is a credit, ALL IS WONDERFUL, ALL IS SPECTACULAR!!!
To the man that threatened to beat me up in McDonald's and I agreed for a fight outside then YOU fled...yeah you're lucky you ran. I had flexible jeans, Doc Martin's & a high kick ready for you!! Don't mess with the gays! We will destroy your homophobia!!!
I just wanna say this! If you’re performing, resting, auditioning, graduating this year, struggling, nailing it, doubting! Everyone has been at some point in their career each one of these and every chapter is important!! You’re still in it & that’s what we should celebrate!
People slagging off musical theatre being on prime time TV. We are still in a pandemic & hoping these shows that reach millions of viewers will help make the public trust it's safe to attend & buy tickets once we are reopen...Save the negative energy for another time!
Anyone feel like they are in a state of grief for our industry? Some good days, some bad. I’m sad for our 2020 graduates, I’m sad for friends that now can’t announce jobs, friends that couldn’t say goodbye to their shows. I know we will be back but it can’t happen fast enough!
Nearly cried sitting on the tube. Someone came over to me (socially distanced) and thanked me for making them laugh through a difficult time in lockdown. I mean it’s one of the nicest things to of happened to me in 2020!
I don’t know her but I wish I did because
@CarrieHFletcher
is such a healthy positive role model to my students, most of all to my female students! Hard working, honest, strong, beautiful (without needing filters) We need more like her on social media!
I believe theatre should be accessible for everyone & I am lucky to be able to help others so I have 4 standing grand circle tickets for DEAR EVAN HANSEN for Tuesday 26th November at 7:30pm to giveaway to people that can’t afford it! Just favourite the tweet & I’ll pick at random
THEATRE DOES NOT SPREAD COVID THEATRE DOES NOT SPREAD COVID THEATRE DOES NOT SPREAD COVID THEATRE DOES NOT SPREAD COVID THEATRE DOES NOT SPREAD COVID THEATRE DOES NOT SPREAD COVID THEATRE DOES NOT SPREAD COVID THEATRE DOES NOT SPREAD COVID THEATRE DOES NOT SPREAD COVID
Friends not in this industry are back to reality, if not still furloughed, our government support has stopped, no sign of reopening to normality til at least 2021. When I share my concerns I get told to move to another industry. I haven’t worked this hard in my life to move on!
For the last 12 years I have never had a Christmas tree in my house because I’ve always been away from London for panto rehearsals so never got one. Due to panto cancelled today I am off to buy a tree and put it up to make up for the last 12 years!!! JUDGE ME!!
If you are in the arts & one of the participants partying in parks, house parties etc without social distancing whilst plastering it on your socials, still complaining theatre can’t reopen due to huge crowds gathering you are now null & void cause you are now PART OF THE PROBLEM
Death Drop opened last night.....Today SIX & Les Mis reopen their doors to the public to SOLD OUT AUDIENCES FOR BOTH SHOWS!! Jamie........you're NEXT!!! WE ARE VIABLE!!!
I CAN HAVE MY BIRTHDAY PARTY IN A THEATRE NEXT MONTH!! TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE THEATRE COMMUNITY YOU CAN HAVE A FOSSE FOREST BALLET MEET N GREET!! ALL WELCOME!! Seriously......who’s interested??
I kid you not......I've just had 2 glasses of champagne sent over to my table which I didn't order & the waitress said "This is from someone that wants to say Thank-you for keeping them smiling through lockdown" whoever you are, Thankyou!!!
To people telling others they shouldn’t tweet THEATRE 30 times.....PEOPLE CAN TWEET WHAT THE HELL THEY LIKE FROM THEIR OWN SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS!! !! Stop telling people what people can/can’t tweet on their own profiles!!
One thing I hope we continue after lockdown is the realisation that everyone in this industry is human, no one is better than anyone else and being kind is important, always.
Took my ex to see Hamilton once, took him backstage to meet the cast & a pic onstage, asked him what he thought of the evening?? He replied with “it was ok.....” I dumped him a week later!!!
WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL IS HAPPENING!!!!! I'm trying to avoid getting covid, I'm wearing a onesie, I'm agent less. I'VE JUST HAD CONFIRMATION THAT I'M THE FACE OF A MASSIVE NEW COMMERCIAL!!!
Kerry Ellis got rejected when she auditioned for Bird College...she then went on to become one the best MT performers of our generation. If a rejection happens, accept it, move on & realise it's only someone's opinion, their opinion is not a career definer.
A MASSIVE thankyou to all of you who liked/shared/retweeted my videos these past weeks! I’ve just received a message from an idol of mine in NYC who is the reason why I chose this career saying they enjoyed my videos! I’m speechless right now.....thankyou thankyou thankyou!!
I'm struggling in this lockdown.....the days seem so long, I have nothing to do, I've done everything I want to do...quizzes, cooked, decorated, the weather is rubbish, lockdown date is just extending & extending. If you're feeling the same know you ain't the only one!!
So the government reopened gyms, restaurants, schools, bars and even gave a nationwide scheme to help encourage us to leave the house &
boost the economy, and now they’re telling us off for following their actions & guidelines! Nahhhhh government take responsibility & ownership!
As a kid my Mum & Dad sacrificed hours a week taking me to dance classes, chaperoning the shows I was in, got 2nd jobs to afford my training. Today after a new refurb I got to thank them by naming two seats after them at that theatre where it all started. My ❤️
@HallforCornwall
My heart is so sad tonight for an industry I love and have sacrificed so much to be a part of but tonight realised it will never return the love. So many contracts postponed, no financial help, no sympathy, no understanding. The only people looking after performers are performers
Also what industry dives into a pandemic of no work, no money, no financial security then raises money in many different ways to help support others in their industry that are struggling?!? OURS that’s who.....OUR INDUSTRY IS INCREDIBLE!!
To all my students that turned up today for class I am proud of you. To all my students that didn't turn up today & realised they needed a day away & put their mental health & well being first....I AM ALSO BLOODY PROUD OF YOU!!
To the people mocking others for doing panto & how they are gonna be unhappy during the Christmas season pretending to be happy! It’s the one time of the year this industry gets employed the most & if you can do a panto season... a west-end 8 show week schedule aint so bad!
To everyone that turned up today for the open call. Your passion to queue for hours to be seen & even turned away. That passion, that commitment, that drive is what you need in this industry. You've got it, it's only a matter of time. However we do need to improve the system!
Ok hear me out.....1 NIGHT ONLY.....
@JessieJ
sings Musical Theatre Songs At The London Palladium! Who would buy a ticket? Producers you may steal this idea but I want two comps row B centre stalls & a meet n greet afterwards.
I’m gonna tweet it cos it’s important to normalise it and realise us industry folk are going through a really tough time personally and professionally right now ..... I HAVE JUST HAD THE BEST COUNSELLING SESSION EVER!!
Aren't musical theatre soundtracks amazing! I woke up feeling a bit meh but now I'm heading into Soho to drink martinis in a silk shirt looking stunning! Thanks Legally Blonde soundtrack!
A dance class due to have 28 students....20 unexplained absences....My god I wouldn't of dared done that whilst in training. Where has the respect & manners gone?
Whilst you’re in the pub or heading on your staycation, or spending your money shopping today. Whilst in isolation you enjoyed your HAMILTON, LIVE THEATRE STREAMS, SHOWS UPON SHOWS......oh btw THE THEATRE COMMUNITY IS STILL LEFT WITHOUT SUPPORT BY THE GOVERNMENT! Enjoy your pint!
The WICKED producers are missing a trick. All ex Elphaba's lined up on stage, a huge spinning wheel with their headshots on, whoever it lands on goes & plays the role in 30 minutes, no rehearsal, no line run, no sing through with the MD, a quick safety fly! Tickets £30! GENIUS!
Guys I’ve had a lightbulb moment. If the Fosse Forest gets picked up for a series I’m gonna demand a scene of an open dance call in Hawaii with 15,000 authentic performers who trained in the UK.
So they will need fly, provide accommodation & two weeks filming in Hawaii. Who’s in?
I quote Darcey Bussell from last night! “A teacher that criticises you is a teacher that you want in training because they care about your progression, a teacher that accepts your faults and ignores you means they have lost interest in you....praise being critiqued”
So I’m being interviewed next week by BBC radio about my sketches & my pilot episode.......how many times do you think I can mention
#ChampagneFlute
&
#FosseForestBallet
in the interview? I’m aiming for 7 in total......
