If i was caught doing 100mph on a motorway, I'd be guaranteed an instant ban, if i was caught doing 140, twice the speed limit, I'd probably end up in jail, Andy Burnham gets caught at almost twice the speed limit, 78 in a 40 & gets 6 points & a fine ๐คทโโ๏ธ
@PhilHannon
Almost isn't the same as actually though. If he'd been doing 80 he would have got banned but you have to cut off somewhere otherwise you end up banning people for doing 31 in a 30
@eds_smith
You do know average speed limits are there for safety reasons, you know like stopping you ploughing into stationary traffic or workers in the road, you do know this right ? Also average speed limits don't start at the lowest number, they gradually decrease.
@dowley_
It was still 38mph over the speed limit, ya know, the speed limit that's put in place to stop speeders ploughing into the back of those actually obeying the speed limit, are you backward ?
@PhilHannon
@Tedestrela
There are people out there with significantly more than 12 points on their license though. I read about a guy with 80+ & most of which were for speeding, yet even though he appeared in cour again he still gets to keep driving (legally). Go figire that one.
@PhilHannon
To be fair, Andy Burnham was probably driving a mid engined Ferrari XTC 9000 (other super cars for the privileged are available, financed through dodgy dealings) which automaticaly exempts him from plebian laws and not a mobile crane ๐๐คฃ ๐คฌ
