Just got my card declined at Aldi, checked my bank account and it was £3 short. I’m the space of time (approx 45secs) in took me to transfer twenty quid over from my savings acct to my current acct the bloke behind started having a full blown tantrum over being kept waiting. So

@PetulantWench @RealismHelps How can a direct debit be unexpected? They literally go out every month on the same day 😂

@PetulantWench @RealismHelps It’s either on the day you agreed, or a few days after because of a weekend, so it’s still not unexpected

@J_skupski @RealismHelps Having worked in banking for too long I could sit here and explain why you’re wrong but I just can’t be arsed. My husband forgot to cancel a DD. I didn’t expect it to go out. How is that so difficult for you to understand?

@PetulantWench @J_skupski @RealismHelps I sympathise with your issue, but, Direct Debits are taken at the same date each month as agreed when you set them up.

@PetulantWench @J_skupski @RealismHelps The other thing is the amount can change from month to month if it’s a utility bill like gas. I certainly didn’t anticipate an €800 gas bill in January when I wasn’t there & neither were the other two people.
