Shout out to TCC senior defenseman Elliot Vander Roest. He had 12 blocked shots last night in our 3-2 loss to Alpena. That gives him just under 60 blocks for the season. He’s fearless and very deliberate. It won’t show on the scoresheet, but just as valuable.

I know the @MHSAA puts a lot of stock in regionals being “regional” but when 22-of-133 programs are traveling more than 60 miles to compete in their opening-round playoff games (and the statewide average is 33.4 miles), it just may be time to adapt.

29-of-42 (69%) games at @THEMIHLShowcase were decided by 2 goals or fewer. For reference, the youth hockey tournament/showcase average is ~52-55% resulting in 1- or 2-goal games. Illustrates just how competitive this event is and what a great job the organizers do in scheduling.
