33 years after, majority control of Oil palm powerhouse, Presco, switched from Belgium to Nigeria: Brussel-based Siat/Fimave N.V (with 60% shareholding) consummated a deal shifting stake to Oak & Saffron Limited, backed by Rasheed Sarumi (MD, Saro Africa Intl.), a Nigerian👇

@RajiDraj If, by some magic, they asked me to govern Osun in 2018, I won't think twice before rejecting the offer. It was complete mess! Yet he brought relative fiscal stability. How folks appraise his govt outside of this context amazes me. Osun that couldn't pay NEPA bill at some point?

- Nigeria has about 46 free trade zones attracting $26bn in FDI but absence of inter-agency coordination disrupts operations - 19 of the zones are inactive - In Economy360, I argue that Fashola/LASG, via the Lekki FTZ, has shown that strong political will, coordination...

1. Last month, I led some colleagues on a project to look into post-harvest losses in the agric value chain and we visited about 12 states: Oyo, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Rivers, Ogun, Akwa-Ibom, Benue, Kaduna, Kano, FCT, Osun, Lagos, Plateau. The revelations were heart-chattering.

Loudly ignorant take. I don't care about the needless supremacy talks but you see these "crude" folks you deride ehn (Ologun-Kutere, Eletu-Edibo etc), they can even mock your cute-sounding 'Slave Names' and argue, rightly so, that they're "real-er Lagosians" than your fav SAROs.

I've noticed that the real Lagosians don't brag about being Lagosians or lay claims on it. I mean the Costas, the Williams, Rhodes-Vivours, Vaughans, Okoyas, Bucknors, etc. But you see the Elegbedes, Ogunkoyas, etc that came to Lagos by night bus to seek greener pastures ehn💀😂

There are two conversations I'd indeed love to see Ibadan engage in without the retrogressive, reactionary baggage of partisanship: 1. What can Ibadan do to its dirt/filth epidemic---especially at the level of 'culture'? 2. What can Ibadan do to its brown-rusted roofs?

2010. This spot holds a special memory, at the height of Edmund Obilo's glory on SplashFM. That day, Uncle Femi Ipadeola left the class, Alh. Adunola came in & many of us jumped out: Obilo was on air with Elewe-Omo. Ibadan stood still. 9 months later, EleweOmo was shot dead!

@nicholasibekwe While I do condemn the needless name-calling, I'm not sure this entirely addresses GRV's flawed position, too. GRV has been going on and on about Yoruba people from Ogun et al ruling Lagos and not allowing "real Lagosians" rule, a grossly ahistorical BS

Orlando Julius Ekemode: 1. Brought Fela Kuti on stage in his early years and, according to some accounts, Fela learned to play saxophone via his influence. 2. Had an artistic pact with Highlife maestro Eddie Okonta sometime in the '60.

1. Unlike in the 1960s, the Osun urbanization debate has become quite fluid. Once, I had that mild debate with my mentor, Alh. Liad Tella. I argued that even though Osun had the highest number of 'urbanised' towns in Yorubaland in the 60/70s, things have changed considerably.

If anyone (outside of the Cabal) becomes the governor of Lagos tomorrow, the first & most important duty he owes Lagos is to cancel the (IGR collection) contract with Alpha-beta immediately. Posterity will never forgive him/her if s/he doesn't. @nicholasibekwe #thursdaymorning

Lol. NOTHING happened. Those who didn't outsource their thinking to baby propagandists saw through it all. Makinde is Makinde: he's NOT as terrible a governor as opposition APC paints him; & he's nothing close to the miracle worker satellite observers make you believe he is.

Last October, unknown to many Nigerians, something despicably disgraceful happened to Nigeria’s already battered image at a World Bank Tribunal – which, in a sense, may explain the disdain/suspicion with which Nigerians are sometimes treated around the globe.

Political leadership lessons in Yorubaland, per ACN/LP resurgence of 2008/9, is like a buffet; you pick your choice & discard the rest. Akeredolu is perhaps the last of guber candidates thrown up by the political dynamics of that era & his death is significant. The Highlights?

2. First off, it’s quite tempting to approach much of Ayinde Barrister’s arts as by-products of introspection. In his immensely popular album, REALITY, he painted a rather pitiful picture of the fratricidal forces he had to contend with, far far away from the klieglights.

People's fear over Ademola Adeleke's governance capacity isn't misplaced, but we've got to RESPECT Osun peoples' decision. In any case, with Deji Adeleke's net worth, Davido Adeleke's network, and Ademola's own, er, 'legwork', let's hope for redemption. #OsunDecides2022 a dara o.
