@Milliganreports I often wonder about how we can combine training builders, plumbers, electricians etc via TAFE in a way where all their practical learning is done fixing up and building social housing. It would be a win-win situation.

@NurseIngrid2 @james00000001 @Milliganreports Their practical learning mostly benefits their masters! They won't give that up easily.

@NurseIngrid2 @Milliganreports I asked the person running the course at one TAFE whether they would admit me for building & construction management. Got an unrelated bachelor and masters degree in business. They laughed, you are smart but we only take people who already got a trade qualification.

@NurseIngrid2 @TAFEdefender @Milliganreports TAFE NSW in southwest Sydney did just that once upon a time before the whole ‘contestable’ [ I so hate that word] funding model took over. Working with Aboriginal corporations and Dept of Housing, they gave young Aboriginal students apprenticeships and training to do just that.

@NurseIngrid2 @Rachael07384347 @Milliganreports Makes total sense. Which is why it won't happen.
