This sounds like a stretch but it's really not: There would be no Spider-Verse without Bionicle. Bionicle saved Lego from bankruptcy in the early 00's. No Lego means no Lego Movie, where Phil Lord & Chris Miller mastered stylized 3d animation that they took to Sony for ITSV

@radsechrist It’s clear that executives have no clue what AI actually does. Also they have all the power in the world to keep employing artists but they’re choosing to perpetuate the narrative that artists should be afraid of AI so we don’t think to use it ourselves. It’s exhausting.

I wanted to maintain the stiffness of the actual Bionicle set to help with that stop-motion inspired movement. So his fingers & shoulders are actually locked and don’t move at all. Plus my head cannon when I was a kid was that the fingers were really laser guns that can’t bend 😂
