It’s taking a lot of will power to not resent individuals who eagerly jump on the train thinking they are immune. I might allow myself to chuckle at their shock as we all sink into the swamp together.

@NightblueArt AI is overhyped, but I would think that with Midjourney you'd be able to paint 10x faster, thus iterate 10x faster and blow our minds with whatever you choose to make

@looty_haga I honestly can’t feel passionate about something that’s literally taking jobs from people gaining or who have already gained a mastery I built my life around caring about. It’s near the same level as asking me to collaborate with someone who’s literally stealing the future.

@NightblueArt I agree this AI situation is taxing. I don’t think you need to worry so much though. Human effort will not be an ancient relic. This type of thing has occurred many times and humans always win.

@NightblueArt Meh, I see it as a massive opportunity to insert some modern sense of baseline morality into a majorly morally deprived culture. Plus, AI art 'captures' or preoccupies the guilt-tripping, low-balling, non-serious riff-raff buyers.

@NightblueArt I created a childrens book with AI and I think AI is pretty great but far from taking humans out of the loop. In the best case you can create better graphics with a lot of human help. If you just do prompting and hoping for the best it's easier to just do it by hand.

@NightblueArt Powerful words, hard to read but I undeniably agree. You and word work are genuinely one of my favorite and most treasured. I feel lucky to still be able to identify and feel the passion of true artwork. Your work has been a real inspiration to me over the years.

@NightblueArt It will be challenging but some perspective as an old guy, which may be helpful or totally useless. When I first used Visual Basic for programming other programmers said I wasn't a 'real' programmer. Even though it has changed form and there are more popular languages now it...

@NightblueArt Opinion: We will find a way. The old system will rot and fester under the weight of this prompt-driven sludge, and artists will create new systems to cultivate and share with those who appreciate it It’s only the end of the way things are now. It just sucks that we’re in it.

@tmurrayart The difference is people are learning they don’t need to collaborate already. I think the connective tissues are already breaking. Some are losing their jobs. Students are faced with an insane mastery gap they can no longer hope to work towards when getting an income.

@NightblueArt I feel this. But fwiw, I feel hopeful that this is all just a fad & ppl will get sick of it like they did NFTs. In particular, what I find heartening is the disgust fr. regular folks when they find out smth is AI. Non tech bro types seem to still appreciate real, human skill.
