Ok. Figured out how to do a bad basic vfx and also a bad basic flipbook :) Calling this morning well-spent. The powers are slowly becoming mine.

It’s a personal project to have fun in Blender and learn more basics. Also sort of a tribute piece since I finally finished Skyrim’s main quest over winter break :)

I’ve been following your journey with Blender via Twitter recommendations and I’ve been so tempted to try it, downloaded it but as someone used to Maya and Zbrush I was so scared by the interface 😱 but it seems to be working really well for you! At work did you switch too?

I don’t do a lot of 3D at work currently so not yet :) would repeat a great recommendation to just bear through the pain and stick to default hotkeys for a while. It helps a lot with learning the basics from internet resources which are all default hotkeys.

I've always wondered, how do you consolidate handpainted lighting with actual lighting? I see so many handpainted assets with gorgeous highlights and super shiny metals etc but my brain just kinda frazzles when I try think about popping them in-engine

find a morning where you don't have to be anywhere and do anything, don't worry at all about speed, just try to understand the reason behind the madness :)
