Sometimes I feel the need to explain my fanhood:
SD Padres- raised in SD, attended 100+ Padres games, worshipped Tony Gwynn
BYU- both parents BYU alums, I was born in Provo, BYU-I alum myself, witnessed Jimmer
Seattle sports- married a WA girl, live an hour S of Seattle
YOU GUYS I DONT EVEN KNOW HOW TO PROCESS THIS!!!! I sat down and watched 2 pitches and the third one jumped off of Fernando Tatis Jr.’s bat and RIGHT INTO MY FREAKING LAP!! I am SHAKING!
@Padres
Tyler Lockett is consistently slept on. 31 pass catchers had at least 900 receiving yards around the NFL this year. Lockett is the only one of those with 0 drops.

Jamal Adams (a safety) has more sacks this year, after missing 4 games, than:
Jadeveon Clowney
Yannick Ngakoue
DeMarcus Lawrence
Chase Young
J.J. Watt
Frank Clark
Everson Griffen
Fletcher Cox
Shaquil Barrett
Matt Judon
Chris Jones

Bob Melvin with a masterclass move...removing Joe Musgrove from the game mid-inning so he gets the standing O. San Diego's own with a near perfect home opening start. Padres have a REAL manager.

NA had another MVP candidate. MM did it by himself. Manny not winning SS is a JOKE. Will be snubbed for MVP too.
My brother Sam spent 3 seasons in the BYU football program as a scout team linebacker from 2018-2020.
He told me this morning:
"If every football player knew what it was like to play under Kalani Sitake, they would immediately commit. No question."
Devon Witherspoon absolutely played like a top 5 draft pick today. 11 tackles and according to
@PFF
"he was targeted a massive 11 times but allowed just three catches for 19 yards, with as many pass breakups (one) as first downs allowed."
#Seahawks
For 3 straight years now, the National League leader for fWAR among position players has been a member of the San Diego Padres.
2020: Fernando Tatis Jr., 3.3
2021: Fernando Tatis Jr., 7.3
2022: Manny Machado, 7.4
Ladies and gents, it has come full circle. I caught Fernando Tatis Jr.’s HR ball in Seattle earlier this month. And now....
Thanks SO much to the
@Padres
for being so good to me & my family. Stuff like this makes baseball much bigger than a game. Unforgettable 😁😁
#FriarFaithful
Per Pro Football Focus, the
#1
graded QB for Week 1 was, unsurprisingly, Josh Allen at 91.5.
The
#2
QB in all the NFL for week 1?
#Seahawks
QB Geno Smith: 84.3.
(Mahomes-74.2, Cousins-82.8)
Manny Machado deserves to be captain of the Padres. Put a C on his jersey. Let him in on player moves. It’s not that dude at first base. Machado is the leader. He plays like it. He could challenge Tatis b/c of their healthy relationship. That’s worth its weight in gold. Or $300M.
Luis Arraez is batting .400 since becoming a Padre.
Robert Suarez tied for the MLB lead with 12 saves (0.55 ERA).
Jake Cronenworth batting .407 w/4 XBH on the road trip.
Dylan Cease on the road trip: 13.2 IP, 1 ER (0.66 ERA), 2 BB/20 K
Good vibes heading to an off day 🔥
I hope Luke Voit (
@LLVIII40
) feels the love from Padres fans this weekend. Life gets uprooted and thrust into a crappy situation in hot, humid DC. Part of a very unfortunate series of events in the Juan Soto trade details. I loved his energy and charisma. He deserved better.
1 year ago. Seriously one of the best days of my life. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a lead off HR in Seattle at over 100 MPH & it headed straight to me. It bruised my leg! Got to meet him later on and it was a wonderful experience for me and my family.
#BaseballMatters
thanks
@Padres
!
Padres record under A.J. Preller (starting in 2015): 591-681 (.465)
Record since signing Machado in 2019: 312-312
Reg. season record since acquiring Soto: 66-68
FOUR managers. It ain't the manager.
This is a fireable offense.
What superstar players look like apparently:
Mookie Betts: 1-for-11, 4 Ks, .594 OPS, a dropped fly ball in the series
According to ESPN, what they don’t look like:
Fernando Tatis Jr: 6-for-14, 2 HR, 2 2B, 1.429 OPS
@darrenrovell
I have a testimony that keeping the Sabbath Day holy brings blessings. Chick-fil-A gets it and that is why the are the most well-run and successful fast food chain in America.
Matt Beaty and Robinson Cano batted a combined .100 with a .291 OPS in 74 plate appearances for the Padres.
Nomar Mazara can't be any worse than that right?....right?
Jaren Hall is injury prone. Jacob Conover is unproven. If I’m BYU, I’m going hard after Jaxson Dart. A prolific passer with massive upside. You don’t turn down a chance to get that on your team.
Really really sucks that none of Fernando Tatis Jr, Juan Soto, Shohei Ohtani/Mike Trout, Bryce Harper or Vlad Guerrero Jr. will be in the playoffs. Baseball is cruel sometimes.
My mom passed away Monday night, ending her fierce battle w/cancer. I’m a man of faith. I believe in God & that He has a plan. But the pain I feel is real & raw. Why you were taken from us so suddenly & painfully I may never understand. I’m just shattered and numb. Miss you Mom❤️
Dodgers fans (and rest of MLB) need to understand that hating on the Padres now just fuels the fire. It validates us, telling us we have arrived. We matter. We belong. Thanks! We’re here to stay.
The Seattle Kraken use an actual ferry horn from a decommissioned Washington State Ferry for their goals. Their sheet of ice is from Seattle rainwater. Their goal song is Lithium by the PNW’s own Nirvana.
If you don’t think that’s cool, I’m not sure we can be friends.
I live in Washington as a BYU fan. I rooted for UW as the regional team in the PAC-12 because it was fun. Attended a few games. Today ended that. Screw UW and this ridiculous smear campaign. Giving my 2019 Rose Bowl shirt to goodwill. Go Cougs. Both of them.
@MLB
Padres have 2 starting pitchers in the top 11 in ERA in NL (Musgrove, Darvish) and Blake Snell had a 2.19 ERA in the second half.
Josh Hader has been a top 3 closer for the last 4 years.
What a joke.
The Padres not making a move for a veteran SP and instead counting on 21-year-old Ryan Weathers and the roller coaster of Chris Paddack was a mistake. A big one.
Yes the Padres offense has been huge the last 4 games.
Howevuhhh
Starting pitching 🔥
Darvish: 5 IP, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
Musgrove: 6 IP, 2 ER, 0 BB, 9 K
Cease: 6.2 IP, 1 ER, 0 BB, 8 K
King: 6 IP, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
ZERO WALKS, combined 1.14 ERA
Just a reminder to everyone that it is not "World Series or bust" for the Padres this year. Machado, Tatis, Darvish, Snell, Cronenworth, Nola, Grisham, Pomeranz, are all together through the end of 2023... Let's not get crazy here.
Manny Machado just gave a young
@Padres
fan near me his game used bat. The kid was practically in tears. He’s still smiling. Every time I look over there=😁😁.That’s how you grow the game. Yeah, Machado’s a “villain” LOL spare me. Kid’s dad: “that’s how you change an image.” EVT
Joe Musgrove’s no-hitter is the
#5
play of the year on MLB Network’s list. What a magical moment. At least that happened during that crap season.
#Padres
Just for fun, the
#Padres
lineup the last time Tiger Woods won
#TheMasters
. April 10, 2005:
1. Khalil Greene, SS
2. Mark Loretta, 2B
3. Brian Giles, RF
4. Phil Nevin, 1B
5. Ryan Kelsko, LF
6. Xavier Nady, CF
7. Miguel Ojeda, C
8. Sean Burroughs, 3B
9. Tim Redding, P
Padres lineup has basically been Machado, Profar, Hosmer and then a pile of horse manure this year.
Meanwhile Ty France is leading the AL with a 1.112 OPS in Seattle.
There’s nothing more annoying than gate-keeping when a fanbase should and shouldn’t storm the field. You beat a top 10 team at home, especially when it’s been 32 years since it happened at home, especially in double OT, you storm the field. Sorry, end of story. BYU earned it.
