Video footage of the tornado I witnessed earlier today. A rare incredible view up the mouth of the funnel! Near the end you can hear me yell "tornado" as it started lofting trees. Unfortunately didn't catch that part, but in the video you can see pieces of debris in the air.

Take a look at how incredibly deviant a small, slow-moving, violent vortex is moving over cropland. This drone video-still was taken a few days after an EF4 tornado moved over Minnesota countryside near the town of Ashby. No doubt this thing was EF4/5 at the time of this photo.

Intensity guidance of the Elkhorn-Bennington, NE tornado that just lifted. It suggests roughly low-end EF4 intensity, with the range possibly somewhere in between 160-180 mph (pending NWS surveys). This is an estimation, not an official rating. Estimated track as well:

Probably the most interesting loop-de-loop I've ever made a track of. The Coleridge, Nebraska F4 tornado of June 23rd, 2003, aside from likely being of F5 intensity, it was one of the most deviant tornadoes I've ever seen.

Wow! Sentinel satellite imagery on August 11th, 2023 reveals a scar left behind by the Yuma, Colorado EF-3 tornado on August 8th. Talk about deviant motion, this thing performed at least two loops! Textbook occlusion at the end as well. Very impressive stuff. Cc @NWSGoodland

You’re looking at history right here. The Ellendale, Delaware tornado has been ruled a low-end EF3 tornado with wind speeds up to 140 mph!

I find it intriguing that, after I sent a detailed email to an NWS office yesterday regarding a damage survey, the WCM there asked me if I was a met or an engineer, and if I had a degree, if I’d like to come in and share my knowledge with their staff. I thought that was neat!
