Colorado Gov. Jared Polis gets choked up when he's asked about people who have compared COVID-19 stay-home orders to Nazism. Polis is Colorado's first Jewish governor.
"Arguing for aesthetic appeal while bodies are lifted off the pavement is a bad look."
A woman was just killed while riding her bike near Wash Park. Kyle offers his thoughts on people who argue against making Denver's streets safer, all in the name of historic preservation.
If there's ever been a week to appreciate our teachers, it's this one. A special thank you to every teacher who did whatever they could to protect their students today.
"Colorado is seeing a quick succession of societal changes - statewide police reform, a shifting view toward law enforcement in schools, the renaming of Stapleton. But don't mistake 'recent' for 'rushed.'"
A word on those of us who've used privilege to avoid tough conversations.
Let's take a moment to focus not on what the cafรฉ in Castle Rock did, and instead discuss the thousands of restaurants in Colorado that did not make the news this weekend.
"More feedback tonight from folks concerned there might be refugees coming from Afghanistan unvaccinated.
I'm going to draw a Venn diagram of the people who are concerned about unvaccinated refugees who also complain about and fight COVID restrictions here at home."
This raccoon popped out of a storm drain and started sunbathing, and then wandered away. And That's The Most Colorado Thing We Saw Today.

Maybe you've seen a video circulating that shows several anchors from stations owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group. They're reading a media-bashing indictment of fake news from the company. You may not always agree with what he says here, but Kyle's words are his own.
Political operatives backing Walker Stapleton for governor couldn't get us to cover their misleading smear on Jared Polis. So, they printed up a fake 9NEWS headline about it and mailed it to voters.

Governor Hickenlooper signed a law removing the R-word from state statutes today. It's replaced with 'intellectual and developmental disability,' which means a lot many people in Colorado. We could show you the bill signing video, but Erin Brewer's celebratory selfie is better.

Today, Gov. Jared Polis signed into law bills protecting abortion access and gender-affirming care in Colorado, ensuring people in surrounding states and beyond can come here for abortion, to begin puberty blockers or receive gender-affirming surgery.
This is either the work of a ghost, a scary clown, some mutant turtles going through puberty, or an air bubble. Denver Water thinks that, likely, it's the last one:
The House voted today to condemn President Trump's racist comments directed toward members of Congress. We reached out to Colorado's Republican Senator Cory Gardner for his thoughts of the President's tweets.
Sound on for his response:
In tonight's feedback, a couple of people were concerned that we had a giant fire burning in studio.

Jared Polis' historic governorship has inspired a few shocking, but maybe not surprising reactions from some Coloradans who didn't realize he is gay. Kyle's thoughts:
