Several @JFRDJAX responders from Station 1 were across the street for a training exercise when the shooting occurred. They saw people running out of the Landing, including one who'd been shot. Four responders rushed in to help with no protective gear.

Jacksonville's "defund" mayor just proposed a $578 million budget for the sheriff's office - its largest ever, which includes money for 40 new cops immediately, absorbs the cost of 40 existing ones paid for mostly with federal money, and includes 4.25 percent raises.

These Duval (Jacksonville) school COVID numbers are wild. Last count had 82 cases between students and staff after the first week, 66 of which were students. The vast majority of these new infections - 134 - are in elementary schools.
