Taliban official: “there are differences between a perfect mind (men) and a flawed mind (women). So all international laws can be broken in the face of God's law.” In the 21st century, women in Afghanistan are seen to be worth less than a man.

Me in Kabul, at a girls school. These bright girls were studying to become the future of Afghanistan. In 2015, Kabul university even taught gender studies. Today, 485 days have passed since the Taliban BANNED girls from school. And 30 days since ban on women going to university.

‘Let me wear a “Tax the Rich” dress to an event that costs $30,000 for a ticket and $275,000 for a table, and party with some of the richest people in America’ The hypocrisy.

A women's library in Kabul has been CLOSED due to Taliban restrictions. The library wasn't just a library for women, but a sanctuary where they could come together, read & learn, especially as women have been BANNED from receiving an education in Afghanistan. Heartwrenching.

512 days since Taliban BANNED girls from going to school. Afghanistan is the ONLY country on earth that bans female education. This is Asra. She is 13 years old & asks “for what crime should we be deprived of our rights? The world sees but does nothing.”

518 days since the Taliban BANNED girls from going to school. That's 18 months of girls being confined to their homes. No other Muslim country on earth deprives women from receiving an education. We must not stay silent in the illusory hope that the ban is 'temporary'.📚

A new Taliban decree has forbidden men and women from eating at restaurants together and visiting parks at the same time, even if you’re a married couple. Afghanistan is facing the most serious women’s rights crisis in the world today.

Two women in Afghanistan singing in defiance of the Taliban’s gender apartheid regime that has imprisoned women in their homes. They sing - “what should I say, the world doesn’t care if I cry, if I plead or if I die. I wait for the precious day that we break out of the cage.”

The Taliban have reportedly ordered women in Balkh province of Afghanistan to CLOSE their shops, because they were working in the same space with men and were not wearing the hijab properly. This is outrageous. How are women (without male relatives) supposed to survive?
