Paws and watch our tiger cubs' latest routine check-up with our veterinary team! The cubs are doing great and all weighed in around 6 lbs this week!
The cubs are three weeks old and will continue to nurse and bond with mom in the privacy of their indoor den. 💛
Cubdate Alert! 🐯 In last week’s latest routine check-up, besides measuring the cubs’ weight (they’re all around 8 pounds now!), the team also measured the girth of each cub. The cubs continue to do well, and are getting bigger by the day!
✨SOUND ON✨ Tony's grooving to that

Macaws in human care often mimic sounds they hear and love to experiment. Often they can create fun songs to entertain themselves. After a month of Christmas music, this was the "song" he created. 😂

It’s time for another cubdate! All three of the Sumatran tiger cubs now weigh over 10 pounds. The male weighs the most at 11 pounds while the two females weigh in at 10.45 and 10.34 pounds! 🐯

A BABY FIRST: We are thrilled to announce a spotted fanaloka was born on April 29 and can be seen in the neonatal care room at our Veterinary Center. This is the first known of its species to be born at an AZA facility here in the United States.😍 We're a fan!😉
Happy 7th birthday to Moshu, our red panda! He loves eating 🍎 and playing in the ❄️ during the winter. Although red pandas are solitary animals, his keepers say he does extremely well living with three girls 😊

Paws for the most adorable cubdate! Bulan, Zara and Kirana now have access to their private sideyard to play and work on their pouncing skills! There is no definitive date as to when they will be on public view, but it should be within the next couple of months! 🐯🐯🐯
Even clouded leopards need baths! 🛁Our vet team washes the cubs about once per day depending on how messy they get throughout the day.

Welcome our newest red panda, Dr.Lily! ❤️
This superstar arrived from
@MilwaukeeCoZoo
this past weekend and is currently in her routine 30-day quarantine before exploring her new home. You’ll be able to see her on Bamboo Trail in mid-May!

🚨CUTE ALERT 🚨 Two clouded leopards were born on June 30! 🐱🐱 The male and female are the first cubs to be born at the Zoo since 2019 and, as their parents’ first successful cubs, are genetically significant to the population of clouded leopards in human care.
Can you believe Neo the cassowary chick is almost 3 months old?! 🤯 Her adorable "watermelon stripes" are starting to fade 😢 but she's still as spunky as ever! 💗
Catch up on Neo's story here:
SURPRISE! 💛 Nasha's calf has arrived, just in a different way than we expected! There were some complications with labor and our team stepped in to assist with the birth. Both mom & baby seem to be doing fine and you can watch them here:
Sound on! 🔊 Armadillos like Sandra Dee lack incisors and canine teeth, but do have many “cheek teeth”, which allow them to pulverize insects and plant matter.

With the largest canine teeth relative to body size of any cat species, these three-month-old clouded leopard cubs made quick work carving their pumpkins! 🎃🐱🐱
We have furry good news! Niran, one of our clouded leopards, gave birth to two cubs this past Sunday with no complications! 🥰
🧡 The cubs are doing fantastic and will be in the veterinary center animal neonatal care room (in the room next to Winsol 😎) within a week or so! 🧡
Koraline loves a good shell scratch! 🐢😃
Although less sensitive than their skin, turtles and tortoises actually have nerve endings in their shells and can feel when being touched!

We are heartbroken to share that our beloved male Masai giraffe, Congo, passed away yesterday. Congo was 16 years old and had been with us since we opened the giraffe exhibit in 2006, in that time he had fathered five calves and impacted millions of guests.
Chilean flamingos live in high elevations within the Andes and have the ability to tolerate extreme conditions so a little bit of snow wasn’t going to stop them from their daily strut through the Zoo! 🦩❄️
Winsol's having fun with some enrichment! We give our animals enrichment every day to preserve, encourage and challenge an animal's natural instincts.

BREAKING NEWS ‼️ Meet the Zoo's newest unicorn! 🦄🤣
Hugo, the southern pudu, shed one of his antlers yesterday and now looks like the world's smallest unicorn! Male pudu shed their antlers every year so this is totally normal but extraordinarily cute. 💛
NASHA UPDATE! 💛
Our hoofstock keepers say Nasha is recovering well. She has let the team do regular health checks and is eating & drinking like normal. And of course, she's readily accepting plenty of her favorite treats from keepers. Girl loves her snacks. 💛🦒
Today is Congo's SWEET 1️⃣6️⃣! 🦒 Masai giraffes only live about 13 years in the wild, so 16 is a pretty big deal! Congo loves to be the center of attention and eat all the snacks, so he basically lives like it's his birthday every day. 🤣🎂
Thank you to
@VanderbiltU
for donating 100 gallons of leftover 🍓🍓🍓 from their graduation ceremonies this past weekend! The animals LOVED them!

GOOD NEWS ALERT ✨ Earlier this week, a male loggerhead shrike born at Nashville Zoo and released into the wild was spotted in Ontario. Many conservation organizations like Nashville Zoo raise and release migratory birds but less than 5% of those birds are ever seen again 😮
We have ~swanderful~ news! 🎉 Our pair of trumpeter swans finally have names thanks to our ZooTeens! Everyone, meet Ron & Tammy Swanson. 🤣
We regret nothing. The end. 😉

Happy 2nd Birthday to Niran, our most famous clouded leopard 🤩 Here's a throwback to when she was born.
She was the first clouded leopard to be born from artificial insemination using frozen/thawed semen. This feat is a huge success for the continuing survival of this species!
GOOD GIRAFFE NEWS! 🦒 Say hello to our two newest additions - Violet and Amira! These two-year-old Masai giraffes arrived on March 27 & joined Nasha and Tazama on exhibit last week. All four females are getting along great! 💛

Bamboo noms with Mei Lee 🎋
While the diet of both red pandas and giant pandas mainly consists of bamboo, raw bamboo actually contains cyanide. Amazingly, both species can neutralize the cyanide in their digestive system and convert it into a less toxic chemical!
Happy Monday from Nashville Zoo and our newest clouded leopard cub! She was born Feb. 19 and is the 32nd cub born here.
