SOURCE: The Yankees offered a package centered around UTIL man Isiah Kiner-Falefa to the Pirates for OF Bryan Reynolds last week. Cashman urged that he is one of the best defensive SS’s in the game. The Pirates do not intend on speaking with the Yankees ever again.
SOURCE: If the
#Mets
walk away from the Correa saga, expect Steve Cohen to “rage trade” for multiple high level players. SS Isiah Kiner-Falefa, OF Aaron Hicks, and 3B Josh Donaldson are among possibilities.
The Astros just won the WS and still feel a need to improve, meanwhile the Yankees just got swept out of the playoffs and will be running back the same roster next year.
No closer
No left fielder
IKF in the OF because he refuses to trade him
No offensive upgrades after forgetting how to hit in the postseason for the 300th year in a row
No SP depth
Atrocious bench
$300 million payroll
Aaron Judge on Fox 5’s Good Day New York: “We’ve made some big moves the past couple days and looking forward to making a couple more, but it’s gonna be a fun season I think for Yankee fans.”
LeAaron is on a mission.
If I was Brian Cashman, this is what I’d do prior to Tuesday’s game:
1.DFA Allen, call up Pereira
2.Add Wells to 40 man and call him up, send down Rortvedt
3.Send down Cabrera, call up Peraza
4.DFA Severino, add Beeter to the 40 man and let him start on Wednesday
Gleyber Torres wRC+ by the months
March/April: 94
May: 126
June: 131
July: 134
August: 28
September: 114
This fanbase would have a much different opinion on him, had he not fallen off the face of the Earth in August.
Via Jon Heyman (1/2):
-Yankees have $300 million + offer on table for Judge
-plan to sign or trade for a SP no matter what happens with Judge
-have checked in with Senga, Rodon, Verlander, Taillon, and a few trade targets
-Yankees people very much like Rodon
Players who could be back by the Yankees next homestand (starting 9/20):
Anthony Rizzo
DJ LeMahieu
Miguel Castro
Aroldis Chapman
Zack Britton
Harrison Bader
Scott Effross
Luis Severino
Reinforcements are coming….
You cannot make fun of the Yankees for not winning a WS since 2009 and then call Yankees fans spoiled when we complain about not winning a WS since 2009. That doesn’t make sense.
According to Joel Sherman, the Yankees talked with teams about Gleyber Torres and Isiah Kiner-Falefa during the GM meetings. Teams must make decisions on players not under contract by this Friday, so an IKF trade this week seems realistic.
Aaron Boone is a loser. Brian Cashman is a loser. Hal Steinbrenner is a loser. They blame everyone but themselves every fucking year. After we get swept by our daddies, they’ll have a celebratory threesome and count their stacks of money while smoking cigars.
Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves:
• Reinstated LHP Carlos Rodón (
#55
) from the 15-day injured list.
• Recalled INF Oswald Peraza (
#91
) and OF Everson Pereira (
#80
) from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
• Designated OF Greg Allen for…
According to Ken Rosenthal, the Yankees declined a trade that would’ve sent SP Pablo Lopez and SS Miguel Rojas to the Bronx in exchange for Gleyber Torres and Oswald Peraza. What do you guys think? Personally, I would not have been thrilled if this deal went through.
The Yankees are not signing DeGrom, Verlander, or Rodon. The Yankees are not signing any of the top FA SS’s. The Yankees are not going to do anything of significance in addition to bringing back Judge. It’s time we accept reality.
I don’t really understand why Boone gets so much hate from Yankees fans. Does he make bad decisions sometimes? Sure, but he’s just working with the roster Cashman constructed. If you’re going to direct your frustration towards anyone, it should be Brian Cashman.
Wow, apparently the Yankees had deals in place to trade Bader, Marinaccio, Severino, Peralta, and even Gleyber but Hal said no. If Hal believes in this group so much, why didn’t we buy? How is this guy so out of touch?
Clearly Dominguez is not very fooled by MLB pitching, but as Paul said, it’ll be interesting to see what happens when pitchers make adjustments and start throwing him more off speed pitches.
Oswald Peraza 3 hits
Anthony Volpe on base 3 times with a 98.5 MPH fly out
Everson Pereira on base 2 times with a 103.2 MPH groundout
Another promising night for the kids but idk if I’ll ever get with the Yankee Youts nickname…
Why are IKF and Hicks playing? Why is Cabrera at 3B and IKF in RF, when Cabrera is better in RF and IKF’s best position is 3B? Is Oswald Peraza still with us? Am I going to be lonely forever?
Derek Jeter’s first hit was a single through the left side. Anthony Volpe’s first hit was a single through the left side. Derek Jeter’s first HR came in Cleveland vs the Indians (now Guardians). If there truly is a script….
Mark Feinsand: “The Yankees are said to be seeking upgrades at catcher, third base, and left field, as well as in the rotation and the bullpen.”
If Cashman wants a whole new team we better start making moves ASAP lol
I can’t even lie, the Yankees have done everything right this offseason so far, in my opinion. People will always find stuff to complain about but personally I am excited.
So according to Bob Nightengale, the Yankees have been telling teams they are willing to eat $ if they could move Donaldson/Hicks. I am confident at least one will be gone by opening day if they are willing to eat 50% of both contracts.
According to Randy Miller the Marlins have been pushing hard for Gleyber Torres but the Yankees asking price has been too high for their liking. They reportedly are asking for Braxton Garrett, Edward Cabrera, and 2 prospects.
DFA’ing Hicks and firing Dillon Lawson midseason is a level of urgency I haven’t really seen much of from Cashman in my years as a fan. Is he feeling the pressure?
Per Heyman:
-Rodon has told teammates that he has wanted to pitch but the Yankees have stopped him from doing so
-Calling Rodon’s back issue “chronic” is inaccurate, according to people around the team
If the Yankees sign Carlos Correa this offseason, I will do whatever the most liked reply says. Only rule I have is it can’t be illegal. Don’t ask me to go blow up a building.
The Yankees acquired Giancarlo Stanton knowing full well how awful the end or even middle of his contract could be. They thought they would win at least 1 ring while he was still producing. He is now exiting his best years and they didn’t win a ring with him.
Without Judge, the Yankees offense is arguably the worst in baseball. Without Cole, the Yankees rotation would have a 4.95 ERA, which would rank 27th in baseball. No idea why we are upset, Hal.
Per Heyman, some key Yankees players want Anthony Volpe on the team.
When asked about Volpe, Hal said “If I really feel strongly about something then I’m probably going to make sure it’s done.” Heyman noted just how much Hal seems to like Volpe.
IKF and Donaldson started tonight’s game in hopes of justifying Cashman trading for them. Montas was brought into the game in hopes of justifying Cashman trading for him. The organization does not care about winning. It’s all about stroking Cashman’s ego.
Frankie Montas in his last 4 starts if Aaron Hicks was competent: 7 ER allowed over 22.1 IP
Luis Castillo in his last 4 starts: 8 ER allowed over 22.2 IP
But yeah, keep riding Luis Castillo and telling me about “Sonny Montas”
@StevenACohen2
I completely understand your frustration. I think the best course of action for you now, is to trade Jacob DeGrom to the Yankees straight up for Miguel Andujar.
Via Daniel Cunningham of Empire Sports Media:
During the Winter Meetings, the Yankees inquired about 2 separate blockbusters. They asked the Diamondbacks about a Zac Gallen/Daulton Varsho package and the Marlins about a Pablo Lopez/Jazz Chisholm package.
Oswaldo Cabrera now has a 108 wRC+, which puts him ahead of:
Trevor Story
Marcus Semien
Max Muncy
Javier Baez
Salvador Perez
Bo Bichette
Nick Castellanos
Wander Franco
Anthony Rendon
Fernando Tatis Jr
Really hoping the Yankees don’t just trade Gleyber for the sake of clearing a spot. The guy had a 115 wRC+ this season and was a really good defender at 2B. Would it really be a liability to have him on the roster next year?
Willie Calhoun, Jake Bauers, and Greg Allen all have a wRC+ over 100 and are making a combined $2.19 million. Andrew Benintendi has a 85 wRC+ and is making $15 million every year for the next 5 years.
Since Aaron Hicks got designated for assignment:
IKF has a 133 wRC+
Jake Bauers has a 143 wRC+
Willie Calhoun has a 188 wRC+
Seems these guys came to the realization their roster spots are far from guaranteed and their playing with a fire under their asses
