Horrific scenes coming out of Himachal Pradesh as it receives extreme rainfall. We must remember as the planet warms more, rainfall patterns are set to change drastically with more of these catastrophic intense events occurring. Easier to mitigate emissions than adapt, really!

Welcome to a 50 degree world where the ACs you've installed to cool yourself will catch fire in the unbearable extreme heat. A 60°C world won't be many years away if emissions don't come down rapidly. Nothing can protect the planet from extreme heating except decarbonisation.

There's a deep sense of sadness and loneliness seeing this record shattering graph. November 17, 2023 was the first day in recorded history when the earth's surface was a whole 2°C hotter than pre-industrial times. Yet, there's barely any chatter about this staggering breach.

Not the HVAC expert but I have seen ACs be rendered inefficient or incapable just under extreme heat of ~45°C. Perhaps the current equipment isn't designed to work in sustained 50°C heat? Adaptation means retrofitting old units & developing new units to handle these extremes.

"The future of the planet hinges on understanding these 5 key phrases" - @voxdotcom Nice to see more of these jargon explainers in the popular media. It's crazy how climate literacy is just assumed without ever spending resources on educating the public.

Sonki flowers, a true-blue monsoon special! These tiny yellow flowers literally carpet entire Sahyadris during monsoons. 💛 Shot at Ratangad

With the rise of social media, the necessity to self-promote has also risen exponentially. Even if one doesn't want to play that game, one has to do so in order to stay relevant. Sigh.

Two days ago, a 21-year old trekker died while on the Chadar Trek. Irresponsible, money-minded tour operators and clueless hikers have taken it too far now. Welcome move by the government. Mandatory medical checkup before trek to ascertain eligibility. RT widely.
