#OnThisDay in 1944, the 50-milliwatt Water Boiler reactor went critical @LosAlamosNatLab . It held about 20 oz of uranium dissolved in a 12-inch sphere filled with water. It was the first nuclear reactor to use enriched uranium, and the first critical assembly built at the lab.
