Record day! The island peak today was ~1730 MW. The previous record in 2019 was ~1720 MW. A big thank you to our skilled & committed teams who have been working behind the scenes ensuring reliable delivery of electricity on this record cold day. 1/2
We've heard from many customers asking why clocks skipped a few minutes this morning. This was due to our system balancing to match customer demand following a period of high frequency overnight. We want to reassure this wasn't a result of system/equipment related issues.
We are on track to hit an all time high electricity system peak this evening - like most of our utility counterparts in Eastern Canada. And while we are not in an official conservation call, it's a good time to be a little more energy efficient! Here's a few tips:
We're excited to announce the first of 14 stations in our provincial

The brief power outages this morning were a result of an issue experienced with the Maritime Link. Most customers are now restored or in the process of restoration.
We're happy to report that all customers are now restored. We know it's been a challenging time. Thank you for your understanding as our crews dealt with very harsh conditions & unexpected issues to get the power system in Lab East restored. Get warm and be safe everybody.
We experienced an event this evening that impacted customers across the island. All customers have been restored. Investigation is ongoing and we will update as more information is available. We thank you for your patience.
Testing has concluded for today-- 500 MW high power tests on both poles of the Labrador Island Link were completed with no issue or customer impact. Thank you for your continued patience as we move toward our final tests later this week. Details/Updates:

50 years have passed since that historic day in Churchill Falls, December 1971. While the names and faces have changed, the dedication and commitment brought each day by our employees remains as solid as the granite in which the plant was built.
Good afternoon Red Bay. At 3:36pm the new line was energized & all customers reconnected to the system. We know it has been a long 72 hours. This effort truly took a village, so thank you to all, customers, crews, businesses, contractors, for coming together for Red Bay.
Thank you to these thoughtful Bay d'Espoir youth who were fishing near our hydro dam recently & took it upon themselves to clean up garbage that other people had left behind. Such a wonderful display of kindness! Thank you Brady, Dante, Koby, and Jacob!
Thank you to all of the women at Hydro whose talent, skills and commitment help us deliver safe and sustainable electricity that our customers can rely on
