Unpopular opinion: hard control decks like UW in Pioneer are worse for the format than any combo deck. Playing for 45 minutes vs tower defence.dec and losing to topdecked 4th Verdict of Elspeth makes me want to quit Magic. I'm wasting time to see if opp can topdeck or not. Fun.

If you want to be better at playing a solitaire combo deck, here's my advice - goldfish a lot, wherever you are! The more lines you'll find out when playing alone, the easier for you will be to find a way to win games when the opponent's actions are involved.

I played Affinity on my today's stream. 4-1, 4-1 and 3-2. The deck felt surprisingly powerful + Urza's Saga is a messed-up Magic card. Deckbuilding process was focused on lowering the curve (7 mana 4/4s are bad) and finding good 2 drops to cast before I use Saga. The result:

Playing Dredge is just too easy. You just flip cards, put creatures on board and win a turn later. 5-0 and flawless victory after a short MTGO break is always welcome 🥰 Maindeck is perfect, the sideboard can change 2-3 cards depending on the expected metagame.

Is Boros Convoke a real deck in Pioneer? I don't know, but I managed to 5-0 with it. It has some broken starts, mostly with T2 Gleeful Demolition + a Knight/Loxodon or go wide + Reckless Bushwhacker. I see potential!🐘 I want to make the deck a bit faster though - any ideas?

At first they banned Fury. Now Outburst. The balance in the top tier is broken. We can expect that now Yawgmoth and Amulet will dominate, they’ll get nerfed, then something else will be the new top tier, it will also get banned,etc. It’s just the start of the ban spiral, beware.

When I see what Amulet can do and what cards are on the Modern banlist, I feel that WOTC is doing something wrong. Either unban stuff or ban the deck that's hard to interact with and kills you on turn 3 all the time. It's such a joke that this nonsense is still legal.

I wanted to test new cards in Boros Convoke before the sideboard guide update and I insta 5-0ed. So far: - Regal Bunnicorn becomes huge very fast but also dies to Fatal Push. - Imodane's Recruiter is for sure a better Regal Leosaur, but I'm not sure if it's a better Bushwhacker.

I agree with Mengu - nothing should be banned. But Modern needs unbans!!! If Preordain could be unbanned to help Murktide, why Widards won’t do the same for graveyard decks (which now are in far worse position compared to Murktide pre Preordain) and unban Faithless Looting?

I know it’s not a hot take and Twitter only likes hot takes but in Modern nothing should be banned. New sets keep on having a good impact in the format and the gameplay is fun. 👍 #MTGModern

9-1 on today's stream. The decklist still evolves. I like the maindeck, although I don't know if Galvanic Blast or Metallic Rebuke should be in the main. The sideboard is messy, so like the current format. Affinity is good, but not broken - Urza's Saga is.

5-0, 4-1, 4-1 with Living End. The list was inspired by @matsugan . I changed the manabase a bit, Sacred Foundry was a great addition. Also, Brazen Borrower is insane in this deck, 4 copies main is a must. Maindeck is good. Sideboard is not solved yet, I will work on it tomorrow.

Modern metagame trends - May 2021 update! Clever Lumimancer, Expressive Iteration, Thrilling Discovery, Vanishing Verse, etc. Many cards from Strixhaven had an impact on Modern. What's at the top now? The last metagame trends update before MH2!
