Tune into
@bbcstrictly
this Sunday, November 22 from 7:25pm on
@BBCOne
to see Billy performing a stunning medley of hits.
Which tracks do you think will be getting the live treatment?
Trust us, it's going to be unmissable...
'When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going' spent four weeks in pole position in the UK singles chart in February 1986. 'When the going gets tough, the tough get going' is a popular proverb - what are your favourite words of wisdom?
On this day in 1976 Billy's first hit 'Love Really Hurts Without You' was released. It soon hit number 2 in the UK charts and spent 10 weeks in the Top 40. Here he is singing it with great gusto live on Top of the Pops the same year.
In the early '70s Billy recorded under the name Les Charles before adopting the name Billy Ocean by the mid '70s and signing up to GTO Records. He scored his first hit, 'Love Really Hurts Without You', just a year later:
Happy New Year! We're feeling all enchanted for the first day of 2021 - so we've a fairy tale lyrics question for you today; which of Billy's songs features these words?
"Hey Cinderella step in your shoe"
Bonus if you can think of another which mentions a fairy tale...
Billy became a vegetarian in the late '80s after working with prolific South African songwriter and producer Mutt Lange who banned anyone from eating any meat products in the studio. His favourite foods are beans, pulses, soya, plantain and mangoes.
Rehearsals today with the amazing multi Grammy winning The Metropole Orkest, an orchestra based in the Netherlands.
Love it when we get to play with an orchestra! They capture every element in each song!
Well done to everyone who knew that 'Going Gets Tough...' features on 'The Jewel Of The Nile'. The film's three stars mimed backing vocals in the video, but it was banned by the BBC because they weren't members of the Musicians Union.
We'll be treating you to some of Billy's acoustic sessions over the next couple of weeks.
Here's the first - 'Love Really Hurts Without You' - recorded in 2013 on Dutch TV talkshow RTL Late Night. One of the most infectious smiles in the business, no?
