NYC right now. Rainfall intensity is increasing as the planet heats as scientists have warned. We are heading for irreversible breakdown as we’ve been warned about for decades

8am, street barricades are floating down Gowanus streets, 5th Ave in Park Slope is already a river, and we have a full day of rain ahead. Stay safe #brooklyndeluge #nyc #Ophelia

@andrewmdonald @JustStop_Oil Rainfall intensity is increasing as scientists have warned for years it would. A warming atmosphere holds more moisture

@MrMatthewTodd NYC was originally a swamp, no? Why'd humans settle at a place that's supposed to hold water? Seems like the earth might just be taking it's land back and humans have no foresight/critical thinking skills to choose to not live in inhospitable areas (deserts, swamps, etc.)

@MrMatthewTodd That is infrastructure failure, you know as well as I do how screwed that city is. Garbage clogs storm drains systems, the city is falling apart and built 3 inches above sea-level.

@MrMatthewTodd Wait till Thwaites glacier collapses and causes sea level to rise 10 or more feet. Bye Bye NYC and a lot of other coastal cities.

@MrMatthewTodd @MyOneAndOnlyKat Elsewhere, in Texas, BP sucks up dwindling fresh water for fracking. We are literally going to be starved by big business.
