Still cannot get my head round the fact humanity is on the verge of destabilising the planet and there are hundreds of media punters telling us not to worry about it. It's proper end of days stuff if a society cannot accept scientific facts that have been understood for decades
@MrMatthewTodd
Sometimes I wish all this was a fake bubble, that the science was wrong, everything an illusion, a misunderstanding, a dream to wake up from, that the deniers were right all along.
Too bad I got my PhD in physics and no amount of will can make that happen.
@MrMatthewTodd
Yesterday I was treated to DIY climate change theories including:
the earthβs axis
the sun burning hotter
Itβs not actually getting hotter
They moved weather stations and thatβs given a false picture
We couldnβt affect anything as big as the earth
Thereβs no hope for some
@MrMatthewTodd
I'm 41 and absolutely convinced I will die due to some climate related circumstance. Heat, cold, hunger, violence because of the above. Recycling and using public transport will not make it better. What else can I do?
@MrMatthewTodd
I am 75 (mentally still 27) and am constantly so very grateful that I was born in 1947. Pre-plastic and no overwhelming corporate greed. I see now how fast we are accelerating towards end-game and STILL greed is in the driving seat. I feel the outcome is now inevitable.
@MonkeyMyBack
The Earth will keep on spinning. Humans likely won't stop this. I am certain the planet will be better off w/o us. Amazing that we are the first species here that could possibly mitigate our extinction, yet choose not to.
@MrMatthewTodd
The majors networks are the voiceboxes of the mega-conglomerates and their vassals. They want extreme weather events to become normalized, just like Covid outbreaks. Business as usual. Extreme temps = higher energy consumption, which means higher profits.
@MrMatthewTodd
I'd argue we passed the verge if current events are anything to judge by. As bad as it is and as terrible as the consequences will be we cant give into apathy. This just means we have to work harder. A good first step is ending fossil fuel subsidies for good.
