How long will it take for olive trees to grow back?
How long will it take for Palestinians to forget what has been done to them?
I'm not sure, but I think the memory thing may take longer.
I have resigned as chair of Uxbridge and South Ruislip CLP. I am also resigning my membership of the Labour Party.
Politics needs to have principles or we end up with people like Boris Johnson and Liz Truss running the country,
Jeremy Corbyn gave a huge boost to the Labour Party
Just had a fairly hostile interview on BBC News. They are still saying that the Labour Party fostered antisemitism under Corbyn when that has been proven to be wrong. I'm fuming!
Can you imagine this being reported in 50 years time.
"A brutal regime was killing people in the tens of thousands and people who were trying to stop it were censured by the leader of the Labour Party, who was found to be receiving money from the brutal regime."
π¨ NEW: Labour has suspended 7 councillors in the past month for supporting a Gaza ceasefire, despite Labour proclaiming that it now backs a ceasefire.
4 Lambeth councillors and 3 in Hackney have been kicked out for backing peace, even as Starmer insists he backs a ceasefire.
Tobias Elwood MP, on Newsnight, says he would work without protective clothing in a care home if it were his job. I remember Boris Johnson boasting of meeting Covid-19 patients and shaking all their hands.
This is bravado that threatens us all.

I enjoyed appearing on Not The Andrew Marr programme this morning. The absolute highlight was that to my utter surprise Jeremy Corbyn came on and called me a star. I was speechless.
Question: If we use the Zionist, "We were there 3,000 years ago so the land belongs to us," argument for people to kill and expel the current population in a country, how would it affect other countries in the world?
I've read, this morning, that Labour is no longer committed to the triple lock on pensions.
Why is Starmer wondering why they lost Uxbridge.
If an organisation cannot offer hope, then it is hopeless.
This is absolutely atrocious!

I suspect the Israelis will just add it to the list of things to ignore!
To be honest, so will US and UK governments.
Dear Keir Starmer,
Please can you let us know how much money (and in kind) you, other Labour MPs & the party in general have received from the Israeli Government since you took leadership of the Labour Party?
Can you also state what strings were attached.
Yours sincerely

Since Jeremy Corbyn's leadership high the Labour Party has lost the equivalent of the whole Tory Party in members. 170,000 if you were wondering.
I wonder what would happen if they organised themselves?
Today is my birthday and I officially become one of the lowest paid pensioners in Europe, just in time to miss out on the triple lock! I wonder what other Birthday surprises the Tories have lined up.
Closure of the NHS?
Stop the winter fuel payment?
Thanks for the good wishes!
How many really honest journalists are out there?
Many joined the Corbyn lynch mob and are now coming to the slow realisation that he was right.
Anti -zionism is NOT antisemitism.
The NHS is in serious trouble.
We need to renationalise many industries.
It's not left wing!

I want the Tories out, but I want an alternative.

This is only right.
He expelled socialists from a democratic socialist party.

Do you know how many people are in ICU in New Zealand at this moment (Their PM, unlike Boris Johnson would not countenance Herd Immunity)?
ONE.
Yes, just one.
In New Zealand they have sadly lost 18 people since 23 March 2020 while we have lost tens of thousands.
Labour members. He's doing this on your behalf.
How does that feel?
I had miners on both sides of my family. I could never condone this. She destroyed British heavy industry, car making, steel, BT, British Rail, Gas, housing... handing it over to the private sector.
Nightmare!
I see that more Muslim Labour councillors are resigning.
Many Jews have been expelled from the Labour Party.
Mr Starmer seems to be upsetting everyone.
I thought his job description was to bring support to the party.
I think he maybe missed that paragraph.
How do you rate him?
This is narrated by the man who intends to stand against Keir Starmer.
It's really worth the time to listen to it.

When people in the Labour Party didn't want a Labour Government in 2017 & 19 why didn't they just leave the party?
Why did they force the people who did want a Labour (Democratic Socialist) government to leave?
I'm still cross about that.
I see myself as a moderate person. I don't want anyone to die violently, go hungry, be homeless or go untreated for illness.
I think I have the same feelings as many people.
Too many label that as Left Wing.
It's not it's moderate.
I want everyone to be safe, warm and feel loved.
I'm taken aback by Labour Party members being so vehement in their attacks on socialists that they have ended up ardently defending Tory policies.
At some point I'm hoping that it dawns on them how far to the right they have travelled.
Why do they hate people to that extent?
I remember the days when confronting injustice was bread and butter for many Labour MPs.
Now, to do so, risks their political career.
Thanks for taking the stand.
As a UK Member of Parliament, I fully support South Africa invoking the Genocide Convention today, against Israel, at the International Court of Justice.
The UK government, Prime Minister and Labour Party leader should now consider their complicity and position.

I'm sure the people in the Labour Party, who are accusing the left of being Tory Enablers, all saw this, which is what real Tory enablers look like.
Labour paid staff diligently working for a Tory victory.

Suella Braverman is a total mystery to me.
She's from an Asian immigrant family, yet despises immigrants and refugees.
I'm sure a psychologist could give some insight into why she hates people so much and her tendency to cruelty with homeless people.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a definition of "far left"?
So far I have got as far as, "Anyone who believes that billionaires should put their hand in their pocket and put money BACK INTO THE ECONOMY, instead of just taking it out."
It's outrageous, I know.
Do you remember when the Labour party was in debt?
Corbyn came along, enthused members and the coffers were overflowing with money from the grass roots.
Where's the money coming from now?
The poison poured onto Jeremy Corbyn for so long should be an indicator of who, the powers that be, want to be gone.
The bosses want rid of unions.
Why?
Because they see injustice and try to right the balance.
The wealthy and powerful want rid of Corbyn for the same reason.
I'm no longer in the Labour party & am looking for a good socialist option. I decided to look at what the Green Party has to say for itself.
I'm posting a bit of their manifesto for people to discuss.
I'm not seeing too much to disagree with, to be honest, but I'm keen to learn.
Some people said, "Stay in the party and fight for it to change".
When I was in the party my voice was ignored. Now I'm not, people hear me much better.
Kier Starmer isn't interested in the membership, but listens to everyone else.
As a Labour supporter I'd have to defend Labour policies. Under Corbyn (& Starmer at the beginning) I felt like I was sharing good news and hope. Colleagues were enthused to tell people about them.
Now with the policies it's like, "We'll continue to starve children, but nicely."
When Thatcher announced the selling off, of public assets it was made to sound like you could buy into capitalism.
It was the first step to getting nationalised companies into the hands of oligarchs and billionaires.
Who owns our water, power, rail etc. now?
#NotUs
Dear Labour Centrists,
You have supported the killing of 20,000 innocent people in Gaza.
Is there anything that would cause you to take a stand to defend innocent people?
A socialist party would do everything in its power to prevent this.
Peace on earth and good will to all.
This is the same woman that threw in the Anti-Semitism comments about Jeremy Corbyn when she interviewed me following the failure of Labour to gain Uxbridge in the byelection.
She seems keen to stir up trouble.
How'd you feel about a system that put a limit on wealth, say Β£10 million per person?
Anything above that would go into the communal pot.
Someone with Β£10 million certainly has no money worries, do they?
Allowing them to accumulate wealth, which is also power, skews the system.
Two weeks ago, Starmer ditched Labour's long-standing policy of recognising the state of Palestine.
Today, faced with the Tories supporting recognition, Lammy acted as if the U turn earlier in January had never happened.
These people have no principles and no shame.
Saying "Israel should follow international law" but refusing to condemn Israel for blatantly violating international law isn't just hollow.
It's an insult to the Palestinian people indiscriminately killed in Israel's brutal bombardment of Gaza.
I'm trying to follow more people who are opposed to the deaths in Gaza and Israel, also people who want a better deal for vulnerable people in general.
If you want me to follow you, in solidarity, make sure you are posting stuff about how you feel and follow me.
When they opened the secret government files after 30 years it was clear that Thatcher had lied and Arthur Scargill had always told the truth all the way through the miners' strike.

On that day, BBC edited the footage to cover it up. No inquiry has ever been held to find justice
It's not the people outside parliament I fear. It's the ones inside, preventing hungry people from eating, homeless getting a roof, children being educated, sick being treated.
The ones outside are on our side.
#PeacefulProtest
I'm deeply concerned by reports that the Government is looking at bringing in new powers to restrict peaceful protests outside Parliament and other democratic spaces.
This appears to be an attempt to criminalise the kind of protests that have seen hundreds of thousands of people
"You must not punish the people of Gaza for something they did not do!" Said the lawyer Keir Starmer... oh, no, sorry, it was man of the people, Jeremy Corbyn.
I'm always getting those two mixed up, said nobody... ever.

I'm feeling sad. I'm just about to visit an old friend for the last time. I've been told that he may not be awake, but my daughter and I will just sit quietly with him for a while and say our goodbyes. He is her Godfather and the first person I phoned when she was born.
Farewell.
A children's author, decent chap and he's willing to be pictured where Kier Starmer would fear to tread. Standing up for the NHS and the underpaid workers who work there.
@georgebernhard
He took over an ailing party and enthused people enough to join. Paid people within the party worked their socks off to make sure that he didn't win. When they were frightened by his success in 2017 they doubled their efforts for 2019.
Can someone remind me what the state retirement age was before the Tories got into power?
How much were Tuition Fees before Thatcher got in, in 1979.
Who had student loans before that?

Sadly, you're hard left.
Is there a word for being forced to go against your principles by a political party?

A, Keir Starmer
Note: This follows the Forde Report's condemnation on the hierarchy of racism in Labour.
If you extrapolate bad acts by some people to the whole of their race, that is racism.
Promoting the evils of Zionism to represent all Jews is racism, or specifically anti-Semitism.
Rachel Reeves is promoting anti-Semitism, but doesn't seem to realise it.
I hope she is expelled.

He'd prefer funding from the billionaires and carry out their bidding.
I've noticed something about reporting on the events in Israel.
Senior ex-officer of the IDF is saying that Israeli attack helicopters killed a lot of Israelis in their attempts to deal with Hamas, but nobody removes those numbers from the 1400 Hamas is accused of killing.

Have you ever supported a convicted terrorist?
I have.
I campaigned against the imprisonment of Nelson Mandela.
The labelling of someone as a terrorist depends on whose side you are on.
This can change over time.
Does anyone else think that there will be a lot of independent local socialists standing in the next General Election?

but not too many.
Some people have been criticising me for not going on the doorsteps in the byelection campaign. I met with Danny Beales at the beginning of the campaign to explain why.
@MaggieMoo1706
Funnily enough I really liked his 10 pledges. He lied about them and reneged. I tried campaigning for change within the party. Some weeks ago I told the local exec that I would be resigning, but held off until after the BE to avoid negative impact.

Physiotherapists and occupational therapists are such underrated people in the health service. They are absolutely amazing and life changers. They are overlooked too often, not just by the general public, but often after people have had major surgery they don't get the referrals.

It is their way.

It is documented that paid workers within the party worked against him.
Despite this we nearly won in 2017.
This put the wind up them. they and the Tory media doubled their efforts to work against him in2017.

Someone pointed out, when I talked about the 170k that had gone, that 50,000 people joined the Labour Party in the last 12 months.
That means that the party lost 220k members.
So, 220k that were lost + 50k in makes 170k net loss.
Is that better?
