i'm gonna say it
the increasing trend in the last several years of young people bullying fandom elders for enjoying themselves and being creative and free in spaces online and at places like conventions largely stems from their own insecurities of growing older 1/2
and approaching the time where (they believe) that they have to abandon and "grow out of" their own hobbies. so they turn to calling adults in fandom "cringe" and making ageist (and often sexist) comments towards them, especially to women and queer folks.
raised catholic & christian, idgaf. sexualize nuns all you want. sexualize priests too, while we're at it, since they seem to be good at doing that to the most vulnerable people, anyways.
i am 100% convinced that the vast majority of people online (mostly minors) that "hate proshippers" are all participants in a huge game of telephone where the word "proship" has been so watered down and stretched so far beyond its original meaning that they barely know what it is
your 20s are about uncovering dormant health issues that you will have to live with for the rest of your life, discovering 10 niche kinks you have that you didn't think you'd be into, acquiring new obscure fascinations to obsess over and watching the world collapse around you

@MorcoroniDark
if you’re a fandom elder / an adult in fandom & you want to reply to this to promote your work, feel free 😸
lol shutting this down bc some of y'all are proving my point. go do ur homework or something. thank you to all the kind replies! had some wonderful conversations here. take care!❤️
its absolutely incomprehensible to me how many antis genuinely think proship/profic people genuinely like everything they do in fiction, in real life. like holy fuck, no. a MASSIVE part of being pro-fiction is being able to discern that fiction is NOT equal to reality🗿
i know i’ve said it b4 but every time i see someone into trigun or rick & morty or south park or whatever with “proship/freaks dni” in bio i’m just like ?????WHAT DO YOU M E A N????????? UR LITERALLY INTO- ugh nvm
saying that you hate proshippers while being a creator or a fan of incredibly blatantly problematic media is so unbelievably tone deaf and hypocritical it's honestly laughable. and it's crazy how many antis are super into things like horror, which itself is... very transgressive
me watching all the "PROSHIP DNI" mfs shipping vashwood as if it isn't 130 year age gap interspecies aged up shota
some of y'all do mental gymnastics to let yourself like transgressive fiction while simultaneously condemning others for the same exact thing 🥸
what made you realize that you were pro-fiction? was there a specific moment, or several experiences that led you to conclude it? were you always of that opinion, or did you come from an opposing viewpoint?
LOOK GUYS I MADE IT
famous era 🤭
omg imagine "hating" proshippers so much that you make/follow an account dedicated to finding and "exposing" them⁉️LMFAO
"proship dni" then u stalk and obsess over us and we live in ur head rent free 😵💫
@horse_disk
you know what else i've thought about? why do antis always go for visual artists & authors? does music not count? does listening to violent or edgy music make you a bad person? imagine listening to a limp bizkit album but the first 10 minutes is just disclaimers set to a beat lol
i’ll also say, the majority of the time, when profic/ship people talk about ships/tropes/whatever they dislike, it’s done in a civil manner, with open-mindedness and respect.
of course, though, people are people, and anyone can be immature over this stuff regardless of label.
believe me guys, proshippers have NOTPs we just don't fucking talk about them 'cause why would we openly shit over something other people like??? there's ships i hate with my entire being and yet i don't go around ranting about it, that's how it's supposed to be
oh yeah blood guts and gore with murder torture abuse is so epic and cool guys!!!!!! but the second any hint of sexuality is involved it's Automatically Evil because how dare you consume media that makes others uncomfortable (ignoring the very concept of horror as a genre)
also so many antis have this idea that being a proshipper means that someone supports / condones any and all of the tropes that they enjoy in fiction in the real world which is... just so incredibly incorrect, especially considering that so many of us as survivors of abuse and-

fr this is actually reportable bc it's not tagged properly. not using the tagging system for necessary tags allows fics to slip through filters.

@theslowesthnery
once i started drawing nsfw the quality of my art increased because i understood better how to convey expressions, study anatomy, and have more fun drawing problematic weird shit i was afraid of making before. :)
the tiktokification of censoring certain words to the point of comedy or disrespect in important conversations that deserve the acknowledgement of the seriousness of the topics has been a detriment to society
violence have found transgressive works to be immensely therapeutic, myself included. and there's absolutely no shame i'm not liking any of the more intense stuff. certain tropes aren't for everyone, and that's part of the point. some things are considered taboo for a reason!
@nxl_jayska
exactly. like, where are we supposed to go? we have no reasons to drop our online friends, communities, and hobbies. we all need and deserve our outlets. our passions grow with us, and us with them.
@Ant1sTM
me when i cannot differentiate between drawing fictional characters that exist only as ideas and concepts and threatening to murder an actual living breathing flesh and blood human
if you are trying to figure out what your stance is on anything, observe and learn from both sides. do your own research, have an open mind. keep the conversation going, and avoid those who only want to be hateful and cause harm to others. curate your online experience,
and be kind to yourself and others. you don't have to understand or relate to someone to respect them. as long as someone isn't causing harm to themselves or others, live and let live.
@miracide_
i have a strange relationship with sexual things because i'm 100% sex repulsed for irl things but not at all for fiction, but i also love seeing real human bodies. i think they're beautiful and interesting. i just don't have an appetite for irl sex.
Genuinely deeply deeply concerning that kids actually believe harming yourself is better than thinking people can write/draw whatever they want in fiction. The glorification of SH is so incredibly dangerous. Folks genuinely think you should die over writing dark stories. Wtf.
this is not a callout on anyone or anything but like. i do not trust mfs that try to be "neutral" on proship/anti discourse bc. you're either against censorship in art and targeted harassment or you're not.
@_VidaLea_
literally mouse was one of the most clear headed and rational people on this site and they helped me and plenty of others thru some shit. what are we to do now
“erm…it’s because we don’t *snort* condone what happens in the show in real life”🤓🤓🤓
that’s literally what being pro-fiction MEANS, dawg.
but, whatever. it’s all gross & nasty 2 u guys until ur into it tho, huh. rules 4 thee but not 4 me, i guess.🥸
for me, i had always consumed and created problematic content. i only heard the terms “pro/anti ship” for the first time in 2021, when i made my first nsfw art account. mutuals there introduced me to that. they were antis. out of confusion and fear, i briefly assimilated. 1/2
imagine being so hateful that you see a happy couple and emotionally shit yourself over their loving relationship
why the hell does it matter how someone chooses to identify. it literally doesn't affect you...?
@CeramicToast
the amount of times i've seen this exact situation pan out:
>someone (often a minor who has no business being in an nsfw space) finds nsfw art
>shares it publicly (often to their minor audience)
>LOOK AT THIS LITERAL CP GUYS ITS SO GROSS
i like lolis and shotas- i probably wouldn't want one tatted on my body, it's not my style, but i'll take that over a fucking swastika any day, holy fuck
i quickly realized how dog-eat-dog that mindset was, deleted that account, and became openly proship/profic. i cut off anyone that wasn’t comfortable with that, so both boundaries are respected. i’ve since found a wonderful community here of creative and compassionate people. 2/2

fr like both styles are fine why do you have to put one down. just because she didn't stick with that style doesn't make those who dress like she used to bad or cringe like. can we let people live 😭
