In the CFP era (2014-present), no national champion won five games against ranked opponents in its last six contests until ... Michigan. Alabama beat four in its last six in 2015, 2017 and 2020 but never five. U-M's stretch run to win it all is unparalleled in the history books.
I'm so sick of the right and the left pointing the finger at who's to blame for everything. I am an American. I am for democracy and freedom, and when an old enemy is once again a threat, I stand not with a political party, but with my country and our allies.
Who else woke up early today like it was Christmas morning, ready to consume every story about Michigan's triumph over OSU? Especially loving the analysis from Columbus outlets that acknowledge U-M kicked the Buckeyes' rear end.
Jim Harbaugh just got his second win over a Top 10 team and don't let anyone tell you otherwise or that Notre Dame wasn't very good. Give credit when credit is due, and Michigan just absolutely dominated a damn fine football team.
Here’s who loses if there is no college football. The players. The coaches. The administrators. The fans. Olympic sports teams. Media that covers college football. Stadium workers. Hospitality businesses in college towns. TV partners. Here’s who wins. No one.
The last time Michigan played for the national title I was 18 and went with my brother John, 20, who died six months later from brain cancer. We had an amazing experience I cherish forever. Hoping for repeat magic.
If yesterday was the last we saw of Isaiah Livers I just want to say thanks. You did the Block M proud. Great on-court player, selfless team player, good citizen. Wherever you go in life, Michigan Wolverines everywhere will stand by your side.
Totally fair not to compare eras so how about this: Last two years, Rutgers allowed 108 points and 1,173 yards to Ohio State. Michigan allowed 118 points and 1,144 yards to Ohio State.
Good news: Michigan is not far off and only needs a great QB to take that next step. Bad news: it's Year 5 and we've said the same thing for four seasons.
The best thing Michigan fans could do is just not show up. GameDay is only GameDay because of the crowd behind it. No-show and take away the atmosphere they crave.
If ultimately, the entire book on this Michigan investigation is one school hired a private-investigator firm to find dirt on another school, turned it over to the NCAA because said school is struggling to beat U-M on the field and must resort to sanctions to have a chance ... it
I’ve seen Harbaugh, Grbac, Griese, Brady, Henson, Navarre, Henne, Denard, Gardner, Rudock, Patterson and McNamara. JJ McCarthy is the best QB in my lifetime to wear the winged helmet.
Michigan since Stallions was dismissed:
W, @ MSU 49-0
W, Purdue 41-13
W, @ No. 9 Penn State 24-15
W, @ Maryland 31-24
W, No. 2 OSU 30-24
W, No. 18 Iowa 26-0 (Big Ten title)
W, No. 4 Alabama 27-20 (CFP)
Anyone that thinks U-M hasn't earned where they are legitimately is a fool.
Jim Harbaugh has led Michigan to the best back to back regular seasons of my lifetime. And I wanted him fired after 0-5 start to OSU. I was dead wrong about him and I am very glad Warde Manuel doesn’t listen to me. Harbaugh’s legacy is secured. Go Blue forever.
Thank you Cade McNamara. The Michigan football fan base is indebted to you for leading this program back to its championship level and beating the Buckeyes. Wishing you the best of luck wherever you land. Any program would be lucky to have you.
Zach Charbonnet has now tied Mike Hart (2004) and Tyrone Wheatley (1991) for the most rushing touchdowns by a true freshman in Michigan history, with nine.
No Cody Pickett for Pitt. No Kenneth Walker for Michigan State. A Peach Bowl that loses all its luster. How much better does it feel that Michigan is playing for it all and not dealing with opt-outs.
The last time Michigan played for the national title I was 18 and went with my brother John, 20, who died six months later from brain cancer. We had an amazing experience I cherish forever. Hoping for repeat magic.
So in the last 6 weeks as our rivals claim every win we’ve ever had is fraudulent, we beat MSU the same way we’ve been beating them, PSU the same way and once again vanquish OSU. Get outta here with this “tainted” junk.
I am a staunch critic of Harbaugh and have been a staunch critic of Patterson this season but if you can't recognize a game in which the QB played winning football and instead point the finger at him for the loss, all you are is a hater.
It turns out every B10 team has a Connor Stallions, just that Illinois' works for Ohio State and Ohio State's works for Penn State and Penn State's works for Maryland's and on and on. Not sure if it technically breaks the rules but the intent was damn well there.
Whatever happens next week I have thoroughly enjoyed this Michigan football season. Excited for every college football Saturday, and largely going to bed every Saturday night feeling great.

Biggest head-scratcher ... how did Jim Harbaugh go from a Super Bowl-participating coach to someone who simply can't motivate, game plan, prepare and in-game coach his team on the biggest stages?
Indiana ranks last in the big ten and 120th nationally in big passing plays allowed and Michigan hasn’t taken one shot downfield. The coaches have turned JJ McCarthy into a check down QB. Amazing.
From a source this morning on whether Michigan's president will vote to play football: "He's trying to put out so many fires on campus that he just doesn't have the political capital to deny sports, especially when the blowback was far greater than I think anyone expected."
As a Michigan fan, yes it would have been easier to play FSU but bring on Bama. If you want to win the national title, show the world who you are by playing the best.
If Jim Harbaugh wants to be back at Michigan, the contract hurdles will work themselves out. If he wants to coach in the NFL, shake his hand, say thank you for leading us to the promised land, root for his success, & offer unwavering support to Sherrone Moore & the returning
On his record-setting day, Aidan Hutchinson passed Brandon Graham, Taco Charlton, James Hall, Mark Messner, Chris Hutchinson, Curtis Greer, David Bowens and LaMarr Woodley in going from 10 to a school record 13 sacks. That is ELITE company.
Another thought, if if if Michigan cannot get its injunction, and Jim Harbaugh cannot be on the sidelines, think the best course of action is to name someone like Mike Hart, i.e. not a coordinator. Let Sherone Moore and Jesse Minter do their jobs w/o having to focus on HC role.
As a fan, last 21 days are unparalleled in my lifetime. Rose Bowl and natty for Michigan, two playoff wins for Lions and playing for right to go to Super Bowl. This is heaven.
Michigan State fans in my mentions tonight: your team got its ass kicked. Your team sucks. Your coach should get canned (but won't). Crawl back into the shadows, shut the eff up, and realize this: your reign is over.
What a victory. Never been prouder to be a Wolverine because of these young men refusing to let all the outside noise and suspensions deter them from their mission. Go Blue!
Circling Sept. 3, 2022. That’s the day Ronnie Bell will be catching touchdowns again in the winged helmet. Until then, Michigan fans everywhere have your back. Support, prayers, encouragement. Whatever he needs, we’re gonna give it to ya and root like hell for your healthy return
State police tails me for 10 miles. Pulls me over. "Do you know why I pulled you over?" I do not. "You were going 75mph." Isn't the speed limit 75 mph? "Yes it is." Ok, then I'll be on my way. Two miles later, officer is still behind me, lurking. This is the NCAA with Michigan.
Normally my son’s 5am wake-up call is the bane of my morning. Not today. Feels like Christmas waking up and consuming every piece of media available about Michigan’s beatdown of Ohio State. Gonna revel in this a long time.
I thought Harbaugh's actual quote to ESPN might have been "Hey, tell Cris Carter he's full of shit, and if he wants to work for Ohio State, he should apply to be a coach, or at the very least, wear Buckeye gear when he goes on your show and makes up lies about me."
I got nothing but love for Cade McNamara. Kid absolutely balled out today. But so many moments in this one where Michigan lost a 50-50 play. Refs sucked. No doubt. But settling for four field goals and the defense broke over and over again. Damn. Just damn.
I don't get into much of the Michigan-MSU back-and-forth bickering, but I do find it interesting that some Spartans always complain about media bias yet the biggest media personality in Detroit is an unabashed Spartan homer that hates on Michigan all the time.
You knew Aidan Hutchinson would get his, but incredible honor (and so justly deserved) for Jake Moody (1st team), David Ojabo (2nd team) and Hassan Haskins (3rd team) also to be named AP All-Americans.
I'm a big fan of the Michigan-Notre Dame rivalry. The ND campus is gorgeous and watching a game there is special. That said there is absolutely NO WAY Michigan should play Notre Dame in the future without the Irish joining the Big Ten. Zero. Zilch. Nada.
A personal highlight: I have accepted a teaching position at the University of Michigan for the fall semester, taking over
@Johnubacon
's "History of College Athletics" course until JUB returns. I am incredibly excited and eager to engage with U-M students.
"Every game they [Michigan] played is tainted," a source told ESPN. What BS. How about the fact that Michigan dominated your sorry program along the line of scrimmage the last two years and took your manhood away by bullying you up front.
For Jim Harbaugh to say Blake Corum is the best RB he's ever coached ... wow. That's an incredible statement. If he stays for senior year, I think he could go down as Top 5 in Michigan history. As of now, Top 15.
Michigan is 9-0 this season when it's only my wife, me and John watching them play so you can best assure I'm declining all invitations to watch the game with others. What superstitions are you adhering to for the Big Ten Championship?
Been solo parenting the last three days. Wife gets home from work trip last night and says “you’re so amazing. What can I do to thank you?” I chose 12 hours of uninterrupted college football today. Did I make the right call?
Karan Higdon is the only player in the Big Ten with 5 30+ yard runs this year. He's also the only player in the Big Ten to get called for holding when he's sitting on his couch.
Like most fans I am highly emotional during games. But that roller coaster is why we tune in. And when the dust settles, Michigan is 9-1 with everything to play for. And that’s awesome. Major props to the Wolverines that ignore our bluster and just keep winning.
#GoBlue
Sending prayers and good thoughts to Ronnie Bell. He epitomizes the qualities of what we want every Wolverine to be: selfless, passionate, determined, overachiever, committed. Such great energy and such a great team-first guy.
Charlie Baker does not “regret” his “unusual” decision to alert the Big Ten to the Michigan sign-stealing inquiry and believes it helps legitimize Wolverines title.
“No one believes at this point that Michigan didn’t win the national title fair & square"
Shared some news on the
@michiganinsider
this morning: my wife and I happily welcomed Dorothy Spath to the world Sunday, Sept. 11. She will be in my arms watching college football this weekend.
Michigan lost to an MSU team that lost to Rutgers and lost 49-7 to Iowa today. Just got outplayed in every facet by Indiana. Don Brown should be fired today. Jim Harbaugh should be told he’s done at season’s end.
My wife said to me this morning "If you're going to watch basketball all day them I'm going to Birch Run outlet shopping with my mom." So no matter what happens in hoops, I've already lost.
A year from now, five years from, 10, 20, the legacy of the Glasgow brothers is something to behold. Three walk-ons. Three NFL Draft picks. Will go down as one of the best Michigan families to ever play in Ann Arbor.
Nico Collins and Donovan Peoples-Jones have 13 targets today and have combined for 11 catches for 238 yards and four touchdowns. Please, please, please target them 20 times next week.
Officiating wasn’t why Michigan lost yesterday but would love to see
@bigten
show us the replay angle that was definitive enough to overturn the call on the field, cause this ain’t it. And neither are any of the other replays
@CFBONFOX
showed us.
Thorne does not have control of the ball.
"They re-officiating this play"
-rules expert Mike Periera (former college and pro ref, and former NFL supervisor, director, and VP of officiating).
You know what I would have preferred from Warde Manuel:
"This accusation is utter nonsense. We will defend ourselves, our coaches, and the reputation of our football program to the fullest extent."
Wait, people are actually upset about Hunter Dickinson’s comments about Big Ten schools? Fans talk so much sh..t about athletes all the time. Sports talk hosts make a living off being obnoxious (I know) and he gives a little back and people tell him to grow up? STFU.
Win or lose tonight it’s been an amazing season for Michigan and pure joy to watch as a fan. So many great players and great stories. But why not finish 2021 with one more victory!!!
#GoBlue
I certainly get why the release of the AP Top 25 is Twitter fodder, but if Michigan beats OSU and wins the Big Ten, it will go to the playoff. If it loses to OSU, it won't go and will go to a NY6 bowl. It's that simple.
As a Michigan fan you can both be extremely excited with the 7-0 start and grateful for every player/coach that got them there, including the QB. AND understand that with legit chance to win B10 title, Michigan needs far better QB play. It doesn’t have to be either or.
Don Brown should have been fired after the 2018 Ohio State game. His performance demanded it even more in 2019. Here we are in 2020 and Brown is still on the sidelines. He shouldn’t make it to Week 4.
