Oh, and another thing before I log off...
There is no world where beating the
#1
,
#3
, and
#5
ranked players in the world is considered an "easy draw."
No debate, goodbye.
-Every seeded player gets an unseeded player in R1 like huh??? That's how draws work???
-Baez is top 30 and won a hardcourt title last year 😭
-Literally everyone was praising how good Khachanov was before the R4 match
ATP Coach of the Year often gets awarded to coaches that has made significant strides with their players, not the coach of the best player of the year. It's pretty clear looking at who has won previously:
There's some accounts defending the decision by saying that these players have freedom to move out/speak out etc.
Have we not learnt from what happened to Peng Shuai less than 5 months ago?
MATTEO BERRETTINI becomes the *first ever*
#NextGen
to have reached the QFs of all 4 slams.
QF Aus Open (2022)
QF French Open (2021)
F Wimbledon (2021)
SF US Open (2019)
Some of us are too young to know what the Big 4 era was like, but for those that aren't, I think we need to refresh ourselves.
Roger, Rafa, Novak and Andy were making the SFs of EVERY tournament. SFs in all the slams, at least 75% of the M1000s, and winning the 500s they played.
I have been saying this for YEARS. Everyone has unhealthy and unrealistic expectations of tennis achievements. A single slam is an amazing achievement.
I feel like Serena + big 3 have deceived people into thinking just because you’re an exceptional player you’ll get 20 slams. Injuries happen a lot in tennis and people go in and out of form especially if you don’t have someone to keep pushing you like the big 3 had.
UPDATED list of players connected to the future Netflix docuseries:
Tsitsipas
Berrettini
Thiem
Svitolina
Sakkari
Jabeur
Fritz
Tiafoe
Paul
Khachanov
Medvedev - still in talks
Alexander Zverev is defending 600 points at Madrid, 360 at Rome, and 720 at Roland Garros. That's 1680 points in total, for the next 3 tournaments coming up.
He currently has 2140 points in total.
He is defending 1680/2140, 78.5% of his ranking points in the next 3 tournaments.

It isn't at all. No one is stopping Serena. They're protesting because they're being vilified when they did nothing wrong. Umpiring and rules reform might be needed, but the conversation atm is unfair to them.
Matteo is literally one of the best gatekeepers on the ATP , never flops to randoms, has a SF/QF/F/SF record at the 4 slams and there's STILL the talentless allegations gtfo
It's not just Wimbledon, ALL the slams seem to do this "we'll start tennis as normal and hope for the best."
They seem allergic to preempting bad weather and avoiding issues by starting earlier and would rather "we MUST start as normal and then deal with the problems later"
🎙️Tommy Paul about Jannik Sinner
"He's been playing awesome tennis. My fitness trainer taught me a term that they use in Argentina. When somebody is playing unbelievable, they say they're playing naked, and he's absolutely playing naked right now."
2 days ago people were assuming Jannik was winning Sunshine Double and now after 1 loss, some are saying his career is over and he'll never amount to anything again? 🙄
What in the goldfish memory is this? There's absolutely no middle ground on Twitter discourse.
Zverev hasn't won a title this year.
His losses, all to younger players:
ATP Cup RR l. Auger-Aliassime
Aus Open 4R l. Shapovalov
Montpellier F l. Bublik
IW R64 l. Paul
Miami QF l. Ruud
Monte-Carlo l. Tsitsipas
US OPEN CURSE ANALYSIS:
The curse, as it stands, only applies to those that win the US Open as their first slam, which is why the big 3 (and likely Iga) are immune. The first time US Open slam winners since the 2000s are:
Serena '99 (wouldn't win another slam until '02)
Streets saying AZ will have to miss RG (where he's defending SF points) for the trial. Not sure if this is true, as the date hasn't been specified (unless I missed it?).
Regardless, German law does say he needs to be present in person.
Genuine question: Is Casper Ruud one of the most accessible tennis players we've ever had, from a fan's perspective?
He publicly posts and shares all his hobbies. You can follow most members of his family, including his dog on social media.
It's also getting really concerning how players on both tours have constantly spoken up about issues (organization, balls, scheduling etc.) and there is total radio silence from the leadership on both sides.
I know some people don't enjoy it and are bracing for staying up for the Australian swing but PLEASE keep in mind that us Aussies have to stay up for ALL the European and American swings so just let us enjoy this month of tennis on our timezone for once 🙃
I have many questions that have been running through my head about this. I wish I could find the answers to my own satisfaction but we can only speculate and hope someone speaks up.
- It's safe to assume that AZ running for ATP Council was part of his PR campaign, yes?
(cont'd)
Iga dominates for only ONE year and people are complaining it's boring.
Where's that same energy for the ATP after almost 20 years of non-stop big 3?????
Still don't get the Barty hate on Tennis Twitter. She's one of the most humble on tour, has a beautiful all-court game, and is actually backing up her
#1
ranking and French Open win. What more do you want???
What is with the Ons hate?!?!?! Such an inspiring story and like, actually a top 5 player, and has already won lots of tournaments this year idgi???
She was my
#1
to win from the beginning and still is
Pre-allegations, Zverev was the darling of TT. Of the non-big 3, he and Thiem were easily the most popular players. Individually and together, they were charming, entertaining, charismatic. You are absolutely kidding yourself if you think you wouldn't have bought into our hype.
We need to reframe these Finals losses as coming 2nd in the tournament, because that's also correct.
Daniil fought through thick and thin to become 2nd of the top 128 players 😓
So confused at people saying Andrey is undeserving of a M1000 title...based on what? Been in the top 10 for ages, consistent slam QFs (i.e. top 8), too many 500s?? It's not like a 50-100 player won today.
+ he was literally seeded higher than Rune today
Heck yes, PCB deserves a M1000 title?? A duke of US hardcourts, 2x US Open SFs and former top 10 player...
He's more deserving than other winners such as, I dunno, Fognini, Sock, Khachanov (sorry).
If you want to go with an "ATP in shambles" narrative, this is not your guy
Wow! Didn't expect this slam to be the NextNextGen breakthrough slam!
Hijikata (b. 2001)
Stricker (b. 2002)
Draper (b. 2001)
Arnaldi (b. 2001)
All in their first slam R16.
Baez could also join this club.
And of course:
Alcaraz (b. 2003)
Sinner (b. 2000)
Shelton (b. 2002)
This! Why are the tennis media marketing gimmicks and drama? It only brings short-term fans that are only there for "entertainment" and not actually the tennis. Those fans will leave. Those that love actual tennis will stay. This is not a sustainable marketing strategy.
the best thing about a Ruud/Khachanov SF is that it sorts the fans who actually like tennis from people just in it for the spectacle. I appreciate drama but don't get it twisted, it's not the point of the sport
This AZ outcome was probably expected, but the best outcome was if the ATP went further and actually made a domestic violence policy to prevent future cases.
Tennis Letter is actually evil. Intentionally posting misinformation and misleading quotes, and having the audacity to immediately block the accounts they knew would expose them.
You may have heard of the Sunshine Double, but have you heard of the ANTI-Sunshine Double?
Rafael Nadal has been the 1st and only player to achieve this by being a finalist at both IW and Miami in 2011, losing to Novak.
Medvedev will be going for this VERY RARE feat today!
❓❓DOES A CASPER RUUD CURSE EXIST? ❓❓
Nadal has a notorious curse where players that often beat him frequently lose the following round. As the "Headmaster's Good Student," has Casper inherited this curse and possess his own?
Have a look at the stats in the thread below! ⬇️

We have the utmost respect for Serena, but we do think her behaviour was unacceptable in that 1 instance and think she deserves those penalties. Regardless, Serena has done more for this sport than anyone could imagine
Maybe it's time to actually ask: What's actually a bad draw for Iga? She's hasn't lost to a player outside the top 50 since Miami 2021. She has less than 5(?) players that have a winning h2h against her.
The chances of getting those exact players to line up against her is so low
