Thomas Cole's series paintings, including The Course of Empire and The Voyage of Life, are exemplary works of the Hudson River School. Great art.

One striking feature is the crowd following the chariot; from popes, to soldiers, to commoners. One of my favorite paintings about the French Revolution.

Lots of symbolism in the painting; dead trees on one side with live trees on the other side, the snake wrapped around the necklace, dark clouds behind the face. It gives off a beautiful and mysterious feeling - certainly an interesting portrait by Piero di Cosimo.

Very cool picture, I was interested to learn where it was from, as it looks rather Druidic; turns out it's a 1935 rendition of Dante's Inferno and wow, does it have some spectacular imagery!

Great sculpture, and its location is something to behold; the back of the pulpit of Liège Cathedral, next to soaring Gothic arches from the 13th century.

The stars.
"If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore, and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God which had been shown!"

Great artwork, stained glass windows are magnificent, especially when used in a theological context. Edward Burne-Jones is probably my favorite of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood for these, let alone his paintings.
