Too many young players with an inflated sense of their ability level. Unable to see the truth, even on film. Surrounded by paid acolytes and helicopter parents, they are sheltered from reality. Kids are peaking and plateauing before they are 15. Sad but fixable. Demand the TRUTH.

Ten years ago today, me and the boys shaved our heads to support our buddy Nick, who was kicking cancer’s ass. The boys got a laugh out of it at the time, but I know they learned a valuable lesson. If you love someone, show them. Don’t just say the words.

If you spend more time tearing down instead of building up, you have no place coaching team sports. Teams thrive when the fear of failure is minimized. Questions that don’t get asked out of fear of ridicule, don’t get answered. Kids just want to know how to win. #TeachDontPreach .

Stop the false narrative that kids who transfer in HS or College are somehow "less than" and/or destined for failure in life. Projecting your insecurity onto kids just shows your own weakness. The windows for opportunity are shrinking. You had dreams once, let them chase theirs.

All parents are guilty at times of overestimating our child's athletic ability. We can't let our minds get fooled into thinking coaches are evil because they don't agree with our opinion. That's 100% unproductive. We've got to let our kids prove them wrong or prove them right.
